timing. >> it's hitting right at the height of the evening commute and it is expected to slow down most everyone. jeremy's tracking it for us. >>reporter: in worcester 30 degrees. fitchberg 33. boston 37. coastline city of boston versus farther inland, that's going to slow down the accumulating snow. that's why the further west you are, you're dealing with snow. metrowest, bolton, stowe, rain in providence. as this weather system works through the metro, and it's about to happen over the next one to two hours, i think at the immediate coastline including downtown boston, it is going to start with rain or at least go back and forth between rain drops and snow flakes and so that will cut down on from this weather system here, the center of the storm passes well to the north of us but this arctic front right here is generating some snow

out ahead of it and that's what we track for the next four to five hours. it's fast-moving. it's a skinny weather system. it will foul things up if you have plans this evening. we're just getting into the brunt of the snow and the rain along the 95 corridor. 128 is likely it take on the form of snow. i think into the city of boston as its winding down. that's when the cold air will take hold and shove the relatively mild air back out to sea. the coastline, cape ann, perhaps down to cape cod, you get a burst of snow showers, perhaps a squall or two and it's over for everyone around 10:00 tonight. ending as some snow in the city. a coating to an inch possible. 128, west of 95 we're thinking one to two inches of snow. if there's a steadier squall that sneaks through here, three inches of snow to move

american sailors on board. >>reporter: adam, the crew of two small naval boats are being hell by iran but american officials are received assurances from troin will be returned. the incident happened near an island in the middle of the persian gulf. the boats were moving between kuwait and bahrain when they lost one of the boats encountered mechanical trouble. the crew was picked up by iran. secretary of state john kerry has called iranian officials immediately. learning of the incident president obama is also now involved so we will continue to follow this story from the breaking news news room right now. we'll continue to follow the story. patriots have one shot to change the

two people hurt after a wrong-way wreck in lexington. police say a person was driving on the wrong side of 128 and slammed head-on into another car. both of the drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 128 north was shut down for about two hours during the morning commute. in the fight against isis, recalls now say the terror group is behind a deadly explosion in turkey in which at least ten people were killed and 15 hurt. a suicide bomber attacked a popular tourist spot in istanbul. isis has not claimed responsibility. president obama's final state of the union just hours away now. the white house says the commander-in-chief will take a different tone than years past. they are call it an optimistic look at the >> but republicans will tell you it's going to be more of the same. here's ryan schulteis with a preview. >>reporter: his focus won't be on pushing new proposals but looking at where we need to be

bullet that came flying into his home. police say that he is an innocent victim. >> and investigators say it happened when people in two cars started shooting at each other. jonathan hall spoke to the teenage's family in brockton. >>reporter: 17-year-old zack seen here with his little brother is in the icu at a boston hospital after being shot in his own home last night. all of boston is praying for your son. >> thank you. >>reporter: do you think he's going to pull through? >> yes. >>reporter: zack's mom says he was in his kitchen when shots rang out at 8:00 p.m. and his life suddenly changed. >> he's a good kid. >>reporter: just at the wrong place at the wrong time? >> in his own house? no. >>reporter: are you ready to move? >> i would love to. >>reporter: 18 shell casings were found outside the home. one bullet traveling more than 150 yards hitting zack in the back.

radar filling up with snow flakes. steady snow hopkington, snow in stowe, out toward bolton. boston not yet but it's going to close in. the city and down along the south shore it may go back and forth. milder air, just mild enough, that's parked itself in the metro. so that may prevent any significant accumulating snow. worcester hills. now again even out there, significant accumulating snow is one to two inches. this is not going to shatter records but it's been such a quiet record so far. arctic front blasting to new york state out ahead of it popping off snow showers and even a few

it's a fast-moving weather system. it does not spend a lot of time with us but it's the timing that's the worst part of it happening during the backside of the evening commute. by 9:30, 10:00 tonight already quickly winding down. even some leftover rain right out on the tip of cape ann. probably what will happen you see this yellow and orange in here, those are steadier showers that we'll be able to reach up in the cloud and drag some colder air down. you'll see the steadier rain showers flip over to snow showers an wind down as perhaps a little bit of drizzle and everything is done mid to late evening. there could be a couple more flurries in the worcester hills around midnight with the actual arctic front. how much snow is on the way. in the white shading here, i'm thinking it's going to go back and snow. temperatures in the upper 30s will slow down accumulation on road surfaces, patio furniture and deck railings and car tops may end up with closer to an inch or maybe in some locations two. generally coating to an

roadways. farther inland just inland like 128, that's where we're talking, not that far, one to two inches of snow. so you'll have to do some shoveling or plowing when it's all winding down or early tomorrow morning. a bit of a mess out there but i'm not anticipating any travel conditions on the roads because the road crews they will be able to get out and do their thing. 37 in boston right now. fitchburg and worcester, only 32 degrees. plasterie and cold tomorrow with a mix of clouds and sunshine. 27 to 33 but it's a windy day tomorrow. wind advisory in effect the entire day. winds gusting 40, 45 miles an hour around the metro. 45 to in some locations near 50 miles per hour possible on the cape which will keep wind chills pinned down into the teens for the entire day. so just a cold nasty day tomorrow.

on thursday much less wind with mostly sunny skies. friday mix of clouds and sunshine. a little milder on friday with temperatures on friday near 40 degrees. here comes our next weather system on saturday. this one gives me the heebie jeebies because it's trying to figure out which one is going to be the primary defense. it's like the quarterback hands off to the running back, who do you guard? who do you focus your attention on. i'm thinking it might be the running back here, a little area of low pressure south of new england. what that will do is start with rain on saturday and then as the weather system moves away, i think we see the rain change over to some snow at the very end. light rain but it's real close. temps in the lower 30s. this may actually be in the form of some light snow at the very end of the storm on saturday but still thinking predominantly a rain event on saturday. we have a few day to see
