trying to figure out what information he can release as a public police matter and what information he still has to hold as a private medical matter. we're live in foxboro, dan hausle, 7news. the mets are trying to keep controversy off the field right now, gearing up for a saturday showdown this weekend. right now their sights are set on kansas city as they make their play-off push against the chiefs at gillette. our sports director joe amorosino here to break it all down for us. if there is one team, not just in the nfl, but all of sports that's equipped to ignore the noise, it is the new england patriots. despite being subjected to controversy throughout his tenure, it seems like, here in new england, bill belichick has been largely successful at keeping his team's focus squarely on the field. that focus has been evident this week at gillette stadium where the patriots have won nearly 84% of their home games since the stadium opened up in 2002, including a 7 and 1 mark in the divisional round. 7's alex corddry reporting live

get chiefs quarterback smith on the hall of fame counterpart. joe amorosino, 7news. we're fog breaking news right now. a woman has been arrested after a deadly hit and run on washington street to dorchester here and tonight she's facing several charges. steve cooper is live in door chest we are what we're learning about the investigation. steve. >> adam, so this stretch of washington street was shut down for several hours today, and then a short time ago, boston police announced that that driver that took off from the scene was behind bars. >> i'm just nervous. i'm scared. >> reporter: shock for people who live and work here on washington street in door it chester following a deadly hit-and-run crash around 8:00 this morning where the driver kept going. then word a short time ago from boston police, a 34-year-old female driver from door chester was in custody and facing several charges if. [ sirens ] >> i saw a lot of police cars and a lot of people watching. but i didn't exactly what

but there was a tip on my door and a police officer said somebody was killed. >> reporter: boston police say the victim was a man. investigators were reviewing the surveillance video from a nearby business of a minivan leaving the area. a short time later, police located a vhs transportation van four miles away on morton street in matapan. the front windshield shattered along with heavy front end damage. the owner of the transportation company told us by phone the woman driving the van wasn't working at the time and he feels terrible about what happened. >> awful, awful, awful. terrible fours, and of course it's terrible for the persons he hit. >> reporter: detectives scoured the crime scene for hours, even as concerned neighbors explain the hit and run comes as no surprise to them. >> very common the way these people drive. they don't care about pedestrians or children around here sometimes. >> boston police haven't released the woman's name but told us that she will be in dorchester district court first

motor vehicle homicide charges and investigators also haven't released the victim's name either. live in dorchester tonight, steve cooper, 7news. and there's more breaking news tonight. one of the best known companies in the country is coming to boston. general electric making the big announcement today. 7's byron barnett live in boston to bring us the details on this big move. >> both the governor and the mayor says this is a big win for the state and the city. massachusetts beat out several states, including new york in the fierce competition for the new world headquarters of g.e. >> reporter: general electric announced its moving its headquarters to the seaport district in boston, bringing 800 jobs and an economic boost from global giant. >> we're honored to have him here and we believe they are going to be a tremendous part of the growing innovation economy that we have here in massachusetts and we're really

them. >> reporter: g.e. announced in june its intent to move its headquarters from fairfield connecticut citing a corporate tax increase in that state. >> clearly, i looked at the message that they sent in their announcement, and they want to be in boston, near 55 universities and concerned about the infrastructure and the like. >> reporter: g.e. says it chose boston because of gets business ecosystem and quality of life. in return, the state offered g.e. a $120 million tax incentives package and the city offered $25 million in property tax relief. governor baker says the deal is definitely worth it. >> the eighth largest corporation in the united states and a real leader in what i would describe as sort of the internet of things and the movement toward creating smart machines, this is a huge win for the city of boston, a huge win for massachusetts. >> reporter: boston mayor marty walsh said general electric's

a teenager living with special needs from canton scoring big time. taking the ice for his high school hockey team. he started as a waterboy and then back the team's ceo. but ail really wouldn'ted to do was to get out there and play. >> yesterday he finally reached his goal. 7's brandon gunnoe was there when the teenager's dream became reality. the officer scared the animal into getting up and in no time she was up and running like normal. >> not an easy thing. they are top heavy. right now clear sky in the city. 25, windchill 14. west wind at 12 miles per hour. the wind was the real issue out there through the day and we've noticed over the last couple of hours the wind speeds beginning to subside a little bit but still some wind out there this evening. big storm up in the maritime, slowly pulling away, generating that wind. windchills down into the teens. hyannis looks like 14... a mix of clouds and sunshine tomorrow, not as windy but the

clouds move in friday afternoon. milder with temperatures on friday near 40 degrees. just like we've seen with all the older storms, we get the cold air in here for a couple of days and then it departs out ahead of the next storm system. that does not set us up for anything other than just rain i think as we work into the weekend. saturday what i thinking is we have morning rain. might be in the middle of for wet snow across southern new hampshire. but for central boston the rain winds down early on saturday afternoon. this is not an all day thing and the most importantly for gillette, patriots and achieves, i think it's -- chiefs, i think it's drizzle for the first part of the game but a chilly breeze with numbers starting near 40 saturday morning and heading afternoon. sunday, a lot of clouds, a few snow flurries possible. arctic front. that's going to generate flurries and some snowshowers.

holiday weekend, looking good skiers will be good. blustery and cold, mostly sunny skies tuesday and wednesday. we'll have an update tonight at 11:00. fortunately for bill belichick dealing with off field distraction has been the norm rather than the exception this past year in foxboro after enduring an entire off-season filled with questions about deflate gate, the patriots are now facing controversy once again just days ahead of their play-off opener against the chiefs. despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding chandler jones' visit to the foxboro police station on sunday morning he was present for practice again today, a limited participate for a third straight day. joining jones on the feed was rob gronkowski, the all pro tightened, returning to practice after missing yesterday's session due to a knee injury or cited as a knee on the report.

foxboro on a team that remain focused on the task at hand. >> reporter: after missing at least the beginning of tuesday's practice, rob gronkowski was back on the practice field wednesday. the patriots should have gronkowski julian edelman and damon mendola on the field on saturday for the first time since week 10 but it's not likely to be a smooth game for tom brady and the offense. >> they're a great football team. they've been playing well. >> you don't win 11 games in a row by accident. >> reporter: defensively kansas city enters foxboro with one of the best yiewps in football.
