lori dawe was killed on this road during tuesday's snowstorm in what police say was an accident that probably couldn't have been avoided. her family and friends say she was an absolutely exceptional person. >> those words -- never forget them. >> reporter: bill and linda dawe getting the news no parent wants to hear, the loss much their daughter, 31-year-old lori dawe of derry, new hampshire. >> doorbell rang. >> it was at that moment my heart went to my feet. and -- >> when they said -- >> two officers came in. >> reporter: lori was driving home from work during tuesday night's snowstorm coming down this hill in hamstead, new hampshire. when her car skidded off the road. police saylory got out to call for help on her cell phone. >> vehicle came up mind her and ran into the same scenario and actually slid the same way into her and struck her investigate and struck her.

>> she was' just such a nice giving loving person. haverhill. colleagues who walk past her now empty desk say she was' passionate about caring for children. >> the last hours of her life was with the children and they just gave her so much. >> i'm going to miss her walking through the door. >> reporter: bill dawe, a retired firefighters has seen many tragedies. now he and his family are suffering through their own. >> just happens so many times we see it with others and to be in that feeling what they feel it is difficult but the love and support that we're receiving from others is, is wonderful. >> reporter: the driver is a 17-year-old from derry, new hampshire. police say that there was no alcohol, drugs or excessive speed involved.

accident and lori's parents say that their hearts go out to the driver and his family as well. that is the story live from hamstead, new hampshire, i'm byron barnett, 7 news. >> adam: a multifamily holmes home in taunton goes up in flames. fire pouring out of the roof around 1:00 this morning. when crews thought flames were out they reflared. offices say that fire spread through spaces in the walls that were created when the building was cop -- converted over to apartments. two young men driving bay stopped to help out. >> i could barely breathe. >> could have been much worse. seems to be burning down to the ground. there could have been people inside. everybody got out o. k's which is the most important thing. >> reporter: the fire department says people were home in five of the seven apartments. they got out safely. they're investigating the cause of the fire. >> kim: all smoke at sandwich high school today.

smoke from a heating unit on the roof began pouring into the building. crews responded. they determined the source of the smoke. one student did have to go to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. firefighters rush to the rescue when a dog fell through thin ice. using special suits and a rope they were able to pull the dog to safety. they potioned for the picture. one of the firefighters took off his coat to help warm the pup. >> adam: happy by the fire there. the wood stove. >> kim: much better than before. >> adam: comparatively speaking a junior jackpot. meet the two local powerball players who are a whole lot
