could get a patchy freeze or freezing drizzle too. north and west of 495. the cold air is limited however, there will be a brief window mid to late morning that can mix to wet snow with accumulation in the higher terrain. wee will talk more coming up. >> thank you. right now the search for survivors is on after a midair collision in hawaii. military officials say a dozen of marines were on a mission when crashed into each other. coast guard has it on it for hours and spotted debris in the water as an empty life raft. the stocks taking a plunge on wall street. you can see here dropped more than 400 points. 432 points right there. it comes off the price of oil fell to less than $30 a barrel. it's the lowest it has been since 2003.

6 to 8 miles an hour now and we do have partial sunshine at times filtered out by the clouds that are rolling on through. i call it overall on average a mostly cloudy sky and temperatures this afternoon, mid 30s to near 40 degrees and the best chance of hitting 40 south of the city of boston. here is the storm and plenty of moisture. this is what we are tracking for late overnight tonight and the first half of tomorrow. quick moving storm and pack a punch here if we get into the overnight hours tomorrow. thereafter a little bit of rain breaking out and temperatures will be close to the freezing mark inland. north and west of 495 and may be some patches of freezing rain in wooster county and middle sex and new hampshire. watch the precipitation coming in and starting to taper off early in the afternoon. if we get heavy precipitation mid morning, we are talking

morning and can translate into wet snow. i think the best chance for a coating of wet snow if that happened would be through wooster and perhaps just north and west of 495. several inches of snow once you get your way up to north and west likely. it's a soaking rain. 1 inch of rain likely for many towns and over and done with. kick off temperature of 37 degrees. over to you. >> thanks, keeping an eye on the tropics, alex was the first hur hurricane to form in the atlantic since 1938 and moves north. we will see the cold air. it won't impact us. cold air in the next week, temperatures with mid 20s and snow showers early monday morning and then tuesday low 20s with wind. because of that wind chill factor it will feel even colder out there. average highs for this time of

week, rob bronkowsi was missing from practice and it was believed that he was at a hospital yet for his injured knee that he hurt back in november and chandler jones is apologizing for any off field distractions he caused his team this week looking for medical attention as he walked into the police department. in a new report jones got down on his knees and stiff as a board but cooperative and desperately seeking assistance and not committed any crimes. >> are you in any trouble? i understand your question but right now my focus is trying to hone in on kansas city. >> they currently have an 11 game winning streak and new england has dropped 4 out of the last 6 teams. >> everybody that comes out on this field gives everything they have. >> this is it. we try to put everything we got on the table.

and once in a while some sunshine trying to speak through the cloud cover. this is the storm we will track off the coast line that will promise to deliver us some rain and higher elevation snow which is certainly a possibility. upper 30s near 40 degrees this afternoon and overnight tonight the evening is dry and once we get into the late evening hours, midnight and patchy freezing rain is a possibility north and west of 495. that will go over to rain for a little while and then mid morning we are talking about 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 or 11:00, there may be a burst of heavy precipitation that can change the rain over to snow especially across the higher terrain. by 495 maybe a little bit of snow mixed in. high terrain by the hills and northwest new hampshire, we will talk more about the forecast and what to expect over the days ahead. >> we are following three big breaking stories. walmart is closing more than 350 stores world wide and more than

we just learned that the sams river in seekonk is among one of the ones being closed. the store says they are concerned about the increasing like amazon. the stores. stocks taking a big plunge right after the opening bell on wall street. the dow is now down 520 points. today. this comes after the price of oil fell too less than $30 a barel which is the lowest it has been since 2003. the dow is down actually 521 points if you want to update that. nasdaq is down more than 182 points. and we are learning that rough waters are causing problems in the search for the 12 marines that are on two helicopters that collided midair. right now crews are searching about 2 and a half miles off

>> it's remarkable what nasa has been able to do in the years and getting the technology out there and getting it back to us. 35 degrees in boston. 36 in bedford and 37 north. how about the milder air in place. i know it's relative for the time of year. 37 is not a heat wave but any stretch but we will take it. breeze is out of the east and southeast 6 to 8 miles an hour of the has not been strong and won't be strong this afternoon. clouds, we continue to battle that. sunshine has been limited. overall averaging mostly cloudy skies. temperatures mid 30s to 40s. here is the rainstorm marking its way up the coast line. plenty of moisture and it's not lacking moisture. it's lacking cold air here is new england.

be surprised to see patchy freezing rain. mid to late morning how intense the precipitation is. not a lot of cold air but it's marginal and if you can get the heavy bursts of precipitation to get in. you can mix enough cold air to transition from rain to wet snow by hoverton up towards new hampshire, that's the best bet for heavier snowfalling over your area. several inches and could get a coating to a couple of inches close to 495. predominantly this is a rainstorm and over and done with by 2:00 in the afternoon and certainly by 4:30 by kick off, cool and dry. >> alex, the first storm in the atlantic in january since 1938. no longer a hurricane now. it's a tropical storm.
