dramatic save. byron. >> yeah, this is getting to be a regular thing with the patriots. last year it was vince wilfork right after the afc championship game and now it's darius flemming doing the same thing essentially and he's being called a hero. >> watch out. darius flemming falls down there. >> reporter: patriots linebacker darius fleming in saturday's play-off game against the chiefs. just two days after getting 22 stitches in his leg during an act of haimple. >> the doors were jammed and i couldn't open, i was pulling pretty hard. >> reporter: flemming says he saved a woman from a smoke-filled car on route 1 and walpole on his way home from practice at gillette and says the woman had just been involved in a three-car crash. >> i saw her panicked and i said i'm going to kick the window and eventually it broke and i pulled

leg was bleeding pretty bad. >> reporter: in chicago, flemming's high school posted his plaque and praised his heroics. i want to say i probably scratched it on the way out. i don't even know who the lady is honestly. once i got her out of the car, she said thank you, i said you're welcome, and i got out there. >> reporter: flemming's teammates were so impressed they made him give a speech. >> we got great guys around here, no matter the time, play-offs, regular season, always out in the community trying to save people. >> i don't think i'm really deserving of much. i thought anybody would do the same thing, just trying to do the right thing and that's what i did. >> and flemming says his leg injury did not affect his play against the chiefs. that's the story live at gillette stadium, i'm byron barnett, 7news. good to hear, thank you byron. 7's jonathan hall continues our coverage now with what police are saying about the crash.

walpole. >> well, we've got new information from this police report from the walpole police department and a newton woman who was driving an acura 2001 model is very thankful for this pate the rots player's quick action. the walpole police chief says his people just spoke with her again after the story broke late this afternoon. now identified as darius flemming, he warned her to back off, to get away from the glass because he was ready to break it and free her from a dangerous situation. , then he pulled her out. the police confirm a three-car rearend collision on route 1 and the woman's car was last in line

>> a lot of times you may believe that that could be smoke, it could be mistaken for smoke, that, you know, the interior of the car fills up. >> reporter: state police tell us they did not respond to an accident thursday as did foxboro and walpole police at least initially. there was talk at first whether the incident really happened and darius flemming tweeted, quote, people are quick to try to bring you down. so sad. >> do you think it's wise for a player to risk his health this way before a play-off game? yeah, i wish we would have stuck around so he could be standing here instead of me. >> well, the chief says now the driver was hurt and of course those stitches. the woman has been charged with driving a suspended license, failing to stop. she did try to go online to identify flemming in the patriots roster on the web site but was unable to do that. she just wants to thank him.

clear in boston, 29 right now. norwood 30 degrees. worcester 24. still some wind out there at this time, had the wind all day long. windchills down into the teens around 20. they will hang out there this evening. the wind will fade away and the temps themselves will finish in the upper teens to around 20. next two days are quiet. mostly sunny skies tomorrow. mix of clouds and sunshine on friday. still a bit of a cold breeze tomorrow. lower 30s. friday also in the lower 30s. the storm, the thought process are hasn't changed all that much. i still think we are right on the northern edge of what will become a huge powerhouse storm in the middle atlantic states but when you have the powerhouse storm and you find yourself on the edge of the storm, living on the edge, it's an all or nothing in terms of the snow. you go from a couple of flurries quickly into like 2, 3 inches of snow. and i think that's what the hal we have here in southern new england, is figuring out where that northern edge will set up. clouds and snowshowers in the mid atlantic this evening.

this moves across the deep south and really intensifies as it moves into carolina during the day on friday. if you have travel plans, business or leisure down through the middle atlantic friday, saturday, not a good idea. they already have blizzard watches in affect and i think with great confidence this is where we think the heaviest snow will line up, south of new england for a change, unlike last winter. do you move into southern new england and i think there is a slight risk of heavier snow along the coast south -- south coast and back out west towards connecticut and rhode island. metro boston saturday evening, saturday night, a coating to an inch, maybe a little more on the southshore and north of the pike, north of town, clouds and some flurries. that would be about it. we'll also watch the wind because even though the storm is well to the south, it will generate a lot of wind out of the northeast between 30 and 45 miles per hour. and we have two astronomical high tides of concern, saturday 11:00 p.m., sunday 11:00 a.m. so there might be pockets of minor coastal flooding on the
