tv   Today  NBC  January 21, 2016 11:00am-12:00pm EST

11:00 am
from nbc news, this is a special edition of "today" with kathie lee gifford and hoda kotbe live from las vegas. what happens here stays here.
11:01 am
>> that was most excellent. >> because they didn't drop us. >> by the way, jenna and i totaled up our poundage. >> you may not want to hear it. >> i'm 152 and you're -- >> 148. >> so anyway, it was 300. >> 300. >> congratulations to our guys. we want to thank everybody here on this thirsty thursday, january 21st, 2016. we're in las vegas. jenna bush is in for kathie lee. that was the royal court from caesars palace. made up of hand maidens, caesars and cleopatra. you guys, thank you so much. you were awesome, awesome. >> thank you so much. >> all right, we've got a really fun show. all the talk is -- you guys can go. you don't have to stick around. >> nice job, you guys. >> thank you. >> so hoda's on a high. >> i am.
11:02 am
>> to vegas. >> here's the thing. bye, kids. >> bye, everybody. j. lo you guys was at planet hollywood last night and she killed it. i went to bed at 1:00 and woke up at 2:00. >> she slept for one hour. >> fun. also we got lilliana. took a tour of the night life. if you like clubbing, who doesn't, this is the place for you. she's going to show you some of vegas' trendyist hot spots. >> plus, like you've never seen before, cirque de soleil. will perform a little later on. >> we were on the iconic las vegas strip, as you guys can see. i got to have a little fun last night. >> a little fun? was it the most fun night of your life? >> it was one of the funnest days ever because, number one, i got to sing backup with the backup dancers.
11:03 am
they're not stupid -- but before the show. it was like one of those moments where you're in the group, in the middle of all these dancers and you can't believe it's happening. j. lo was performing. she got up on stage and it just exploded. i think the best part was i got to sort of, i don't know, i felt like kind of part of the family. >> you are part of the family. you're hoda lopez. >> j. lo's mom was next to me and she was dancing during the show. let's watch a little bit. don't stop keep it moving let the rhythm keep you on the floor >> so here's the cool thing too. j. lo's kids were there. osbourne. so there were -- her kids were there and the thing that i loved
11:04 am
of the show and the kids had on those big -- >> how old are they, like 5 or? >> i think they're 7, maybe 6. they're twins. when there was a risque part, the grandma, j. lo's mom, took the babies or took the kids's heads to her chest so the babies weren't watching. there were lots of celebs in the audience. kelly osbourne was there, rebel wilson. >> biebs. >> biebs was there. i had a little photo bomb that was -- >> who doesn't love a photo bomb? >> they didn't. all right. but one of my favorite pictures you guys is this one. it's jenna, who's lost a tooth. >> wait, that's j. lo. oh, thank you. to go from j. lo to me with the lost tooth. >> we're going to describe about what happens in >> they promised what happens in vegas stays in vegas and then immediately, you know, they said that to me, don't worry, we'll keep you safe here, and then hoda put that on instagram five seconds later.
11:05 am
>> i had to. we're going to tell you guys where we are. we're next to the restaurant serendipity 3. >> 42 million people visit las vegas every year. we walked out of our hotel at 4:00 in the morning. packed. it's amazing. 17 of the 20 biggest hotels in the u.s. are here, which is crazy when you think about it, 17 of the 20 biggest. >> the flamingo's right across the street, the belagio and the paris are close by. the cosmopolitan just down the road. harrahs, the ramad are all on the other end to get a little perspective of where we are. >> restaurants. the biggest market here is the food. it's the biggest part of vegas. the city's home to the most celebrity chef restauranteers anywhere in the world. >> here are some of the chefs.
11:06 am
>> emeril. >> wolfgang puck. >> on top of all this stuff, every time we come here, there's something new. the city's gearing up for the final presidential debate. it's in october. it's going to be at the university of las vegas. >> that's a big deal. >> it's going to be a biggie. >> and there's a new 20,000 seat arena that will open this spring called t-mobile arena with some of the really big names, janet jackson, guns n roses. so if there's not enough to do, well, there's more. >> it's a little chilly we have to say. >> yeah. >> we're sitting next to heaters. >> it's a little chilly but the sun is rising. >> it's always a good time for a little drinky. >> look at this. i see a champagne cart. >> bernardo from mr. chow has arrived. >> wow. >> look. >> hi. >> good morning, ladies. >> so here's the thing about champagne. we do like to have a little
11:07 am
bubbly. a lot of people, and i would say most people, have never been able to try something called dom perignon. usually you have to buy it by the bottle. >> we serve it by the grass. >> glass. >> that's rare, right? >> we have the dom, we have one of the absolutely best champagnes on the planet. would you mind if i poured you a glass? >> we would not mind one bit. >> twist your arm, right? >> not at all. >> thank you. >> you're welcome. >> let's taste it. >> all right. >> so as he's pouring. >> one glass. >> guess how much a glass is. think in your head. >> i would have said $25. >> $80. a bottle is 500 bucks. >> this is like we're drinking liquid gold. >> we should point out that mr. chow's hosted j. lo last night for her grand opening and they had a lot of fun. i still am like -- i'm so happy. >> she slept for one hour but you would never have known.
11:08 am
>> i got to say, it was really fun. >> shall we? a little toast. >> thank you very much. >> thank you so much. we really appreciate it. >> thank you, cheers. >> here's to $80. >> a lot. >> really good. >> really good. >> okay. you know what's funny about me, i like cheap alcohol. i really do. >> she normally drinks champagne out of a box. >> by the way, if you were wondering, this is cool, in the middle of the night, people started buzzing, they said matt damon was here. they're shooting the bourne series here. they shut down the vegas strip. >> okay. >> and they were shooting a car chase scene and sequences. people were all trying to spot him. the neighborhood was warned. >> i did hear gunfire but, you know, because -- loud explosions and the fire -- this is the fifth film in the franchise and it's expected to hit theaters this july.
11:09 am
so there's always something going on here. >> always something good. >> always something. i still have my crown on by the way. >> looks good. >> so do you like to use instagram? we have a question for you. what is the most instagramed place in las vegas? of all the places in vegas, what do you think it is? >> well, i know what it is. >> what would you have thought before? >> i would have thought somewhere on the strip. probably that -- i don't know. the sign. >> the famous sign. well, the belagio. it's the most instagrammed place in vegas. >> we never thought we were going to get a star like this but we did. last night we saw j. lo and today we get steven tyler! come on out! >> hello, ladies. >> oh, my god. >> morning, hoda. >> oh, my god. so good to see you, wow. >> how are you? >> good to see you. look closely. look closely.
11:10 am
by the way, i know steven tyler and you look exactly like him. did you get lip injections? >> oh, my god. >> did you? >> you're asking me if i paid to look like this? no, this is god's sense of humor. first a platapus and then me. >> you do tributes, right? >> i perform for legends in concert. which is a very cool deal. we're standing behind the flamingo which is where we perform six nights a week. as of next month i think it is, 33 years, the longest running show in las vegas. >> that's amazing. >> have you ever met the real steven tiler? >> yeah. >> what did he say? >> he said we look good but our eyes are too close. we had a great time. actually steven and i, we pranked his son. >> did he believe it was steven?
11:11 am
me before. we're sitting backstage. steven puts me in his makeup chair and he called taj on the radio. he's like, baby bear, this is papa bear, get your butt, paraphrasing, up to the dressing room. taj walks in and i'm in the chair and i say, taj, daddy doesn't quite feel like himself what do you think it is? steven came up from behind. >> scared him to death. >> tears in his eyes. we had a great time. >> thank you for coming. >> give us a hug. >> thank you, steven. thanks for stopping by. >> okay, thank you, sweetie, we really appreciate it. thanks for coming by to see us. >> thanks so much. >> you know what else vegas is known for. >> i know. weddings. >> the unofficial wedding capital of the world. so there are 80,000 mirmg arriage licenses issued in a year. every single hotel by the way
11:12 am
>> mia farrow and frank sip nat safrnd sands hotel. >> demi moore and bruce willis. that didn't work. >> cindy crawford married richard gere. another fail. paul newman and joanne woodward were married here. they remained married until his death. >> amanda, do you have my prop? please. because weddings happen, and we just thought why not. why not put on a little wedding today? now, that may get you excited. that may get you excited, but it's not really happening. it's just a prop. >> okay, thank you, jenna. >> we need something sweet. we got to bring in. the place serendipity took such great care of us. justin here has something we want to call the treasure chest. >> of desserts.
11:13 am
>> it's got a little bit of everything. >> justin, you can order this? >> yes, absolutely. >> at serendipity. >> this is available all the time at serendipity, las vegas. >> golden spoons. >> justin, thank you so much. we're going to eat. i'm going to do the red velvet. >> i'm going to have a little ice cream. >> it's $99 and it's delicious. >> thank you. thanks for having us. >> she's the world's ultimate fan girl. she feels right at home here in vegas. >> j. lo makes her debut and hoda was front and center. >> and we're going to take you behind the scenes right after

11:29 am
and you try to become really efficient with what you're doing. i think we try -- certainly, i've tried to eliminate all of the things that i don't need to do during the season. just try to get to the most important stuff. so i ultimately always want to be feeling good on game day and be really mentally physically prosecuted prepared. everything else gets put to the side when football season is like it is now. >> tom, how does saturday, how preparation that led to
11:30 am
correlation of a good prep of week or do you not necessarily hold -- >> it doesn't always translate. you know some weeks you have great weeks and then don't put it together. and then some weeks it's a little slow to start. and, you know, or slow at the end. and you just tear it up on game day. so you try to always have a great week of preparation. obviously, i think the better you do things over a long period of time, the more consistent you are over a period of time, the more confidence you have in the game. sometimes it may -- the practice may -- if you have a good practice, it may not show up that first week, but it may show up the second week and third week once you start stringing all of those together. so depend on match ups and the team you're playing appear and the conditions of the game how it sets out, and whether you want to more, all of those things play into practice habits, good fundamentals are a big part of what our practice
11:31 am
we talk about fundamentals techniques which lead to execution. if you can do that at practice, it's really not a fluke when it hatches on the game. you don't want to practice poorly and just flip the itch interest and on game day everything magically will happen the way it needs to. it doesn't really happen like that. >> tom julian edelman seems to always run the ball. he calls you the clydesdale. and budweiser, what's your reaction to that and on a serious note, the way you've extended plays, even if it's not running you show well do you feel you're doing that in different points in your earlier years? >> you it's definitely something that i have worked a lot at the last couple of years. because there was a point i felt like that was becoming a real problem for me as a player, not being able to extend anything. so i think that's a big point,
11:32 am
how to buy everybody more time. : i think we've done a e better job of that the last couple years than i did four or five years ago. if it's to move the throw, i think that's always a good thing. because we'll probably gain more yards than if i start running. but if i have to run, i think that could be a completely frustrating thing for defense. how can i let this guy run, of all the things, this guy? so -- yeah. probably look like a clydesdale running in that columbine video, too, 16 years ago too. at least i haven't slowed down. at least i've maintained. hopefully improved a little bit. >> facing peyton manning, you know how excellent of a westbound quarterback, he is. does that bring out the best in you as a competitor, knowing you have to be on top of your game. >> yeah.
11:33 am
player. any time you face -- several plays. so you know, you got to be at your best. you know, you can't play anything less than your best and expect to win. because he's going to play well and he's going to have that team playing well. turn overs and short fields, that's stuff they live for in denver. they've done a great job of that all of season. the turn overs and returns for touchdowns and so forth. but peyton has been, you know, just incredible. and you know you're going to take your best effort as offense to match what they're doing on their offense. great. but we as a an offense have to do our job regardless and try to frjts >> greater importance during the playoffs, considering last week, just how close the --
11:34 am
>> yeah. they do. and turn overs are a big part of every game. we talk about that as strong correlation over the course of the entire season. look at teams with top turnovers. we're usually a 95% winning percentage when we don't turn the ball over. one of our top goals each week is not to it over. if we don't turn it over, we've got a great chance of win. you can't snap it and kneel down three times and then punt. you know, there's no risk to any plays that you're taking. i think a lot of it is, i don't want to fire it into trim pep coverage for a game. it's -- i think as a quarterback, over the course of a the game, if you're down 10 in the fourth quarter, you got to switch in your mind, you got to take more chances. i don't think you need to do that in the first quarter.
11:35 am
it's part of my false security, tackles she have their own version of ball security. they got to keep the guys who they're blocking out of the middle pocket so they can't sack the quarterback. which a big challenge, when you face, ray and barrett. receivers, they have their version, catching it, they don't want to get stripped when they get itting. running backs have their version. ball security is a team wide, it's not just a running back fumble thing, everyone plays a part. when we do it well and it leads to wins i think everyone on offense feels really good about it. >> when you're in denver and does it give you an advantage at all to having been out there previously and seen what you could do and couldn't do, what the happens on the road as opposed to to home you're able to see move guyso all over the place home? >> yeah. >> explain that to me.
11:36 am
>> it's definitely silent count there. i think a big part of it is verbal cadence and how that relates to where the tackles and tight ends are. the center can hear you pretty much the entire game. when you're under center. but everybody getting off on the same count is really important. at home it's easy because it's verbal and the communication is pretty easy. i think when you go on the road, you still want to be able -- everyone on offense to go on the right rhythm and really jump the count but you can only could that in a silent count because no one can hear me verbally on the road. >> what about moving guys in you move guys a around a lot. sometimes not able to do it. >> yeah, absolutely. it's really easy to spit out a word as opposed to, you know, signal something or, you know, you have to come up with thousands of signals for all of the things that we do. so it's really when the play clocks becomes an issue and it's
11:37 am
definitely easier. i think that's why you know, i think you have a little more margin of error at home just with your communication. because i can switch protections or i can switch an oichgs or i can change a route or change a formation really quickly. whereas on the road i don't think you have that luxury. >> what slater said yesterday that the obvious common themes is you bell chick and mr. kraft. i'm wondering how mr. kraft leadershipo or direction trickles down. >> well, it's obviously a huge impact on our team and our organization. his expectations for us and how he sets the tone for us, he sits in almost every squad meeting what we have. i think he's always got a pulse of how the team is doing. how the coaches feel about the particular week. how the players are feeling. he's always involved. so i'd say he's very hands on. he's come out to practice a lot more.
11:38 am
but not as much lately. so really sets the tone for us. >> reporter: what do you remember about the last time, two years ago in the same spot you didn't have gronk -- having him and how much do you talk to him during the week about the game play coming up. >> yeah. that was a couple of years ago it was a big challenge to go in there and beat them. they were on fire that year. we just got off to a slow start that game. so we just played from behind the entire game. made a couple of plays at the end. it really wasn't that close so we've got to get off to a better start this week. >> reporter: and your relationship with gronk and this week, how much do you talk. >> all the time. we're constant. quarterback, receiver, tight end, we're always in constant communication. there's only so many skilled guys you have. so you're always talking to the guys who you're throwing the ball to and the kind of add
11:39 am
justments that i expect and the new plays that are put in, body language stuff that they need to do in a certain route so i can anticipate throws. it's all the time. >> in boston sports figures, i wonder if you have a sense of this, you're still a southern california kid. >> northern california. northern. >> reporter: suggested that you're now the figure of this year's generation, when they think of boston sports, maybe over larry bird of any generation, when compared to bird, bourque, do you have a sense of that as a guy who has been in boston long enough. >> i think i'm still in the middle of things. so i still feel like i have a lot more football left. so i don't think about those things too often. >> is it an honor to be mentioned along the lines of larry bird. >> absolutely. i think those guys are in a different category. i think certainly looked up to a
11:40 am
being in california, obviously larry bird was so spectacular. so being here for a long time, absolutely, i feel like i'm bostonian so -- >> you don't yet feel like you're that kind of figure? >> i think that i'm -- no because i'm -- no. >> last question. experience in this game, this time of year, how much is does it matter? >> i think the one thing that's going to matter is those three hours on sunday. you know, talking about what we're going to do or, you know, thinking about what we're going to do. i think that's all part of your preparation. but it's going to come down to how well we execute on sunday. so you may not have any experience. you know malcolm butler didn't have any experience in a super bowl last year. and you know -- won the game for our team. so it's really -- whoever is called upon has to go out and make the play at that particular moment. and if you make great plays you have a great chance of advancing.
11:41 am
if you don't, you'll be watching in two weeks. thank you, guys. >> >>. >> all right. as you're taking a live look at gillette stadium. it looks like this press conference is wrapping up. we're not sure if we're hearing from a couple more players or not. we're going to wait it out and see. tom brady speaking about the big game this weekend. live from gillette. talking about the match up with the broncos and this week at practice has been so important. he said, leading up to the game. how they practice is very important. of course let's move it over to gronk and listen to what he has to say now. >> has this been a dream of yours. >> always been a dream. six years. >> reporter: gronk, how much does experience in this game now, your team is -- >> all right. looks like we have some technical problems.
11:42 am
going to send it back out there or should is to it to break and get it back? >> we'll send you back to regular programming and if we get the press conference back, we'll bring ittays in vegas? i think you were running out around night with some -- >> that was not me. >> remember the steven tyler look-alike? there's a hoda kotb running around town stir up trouble. >> for recipes, go to today.com/food. >> get ready for some mind bending moves like you've never seen before. >> an incredible performance after this we stop arthritis pain, so you don't have to stop. because you believe in go. onward. today's the day. carpe diem. tylenol 8hr arthritis pain has two layers of pain relief. the first is fast. the second lasts all day. we g ive you your day back.

tylenol . whenever i try to grow out my hair, strands always break off. but pantene is making my... ...hair practically unbreakable. the new pro-v formula makes every inch stronger. so i can love my hair longer.
11:44 am
we offered women a mystery beauty treatment. right now? yeah! that sounds great! could they guess what it was? very rich and smooth. really creamy. i keep touching my face. so what had we used? what?! wait! >> all right. headed back out live to gillette stadium up let's hear what gronk had to say. >> have to be aarea of it. maybe step up my game a little bit. maybe throw a duke. i don't know how many dukes i've got. but just got to be aware of it. it's football. and this is part of the game. >> reporter: are you surprised your feet got so much attention?
11:45 am
did it get the coach's attention. >> no. i was just having a little fun with it. hoping to get a little laughs. which i think it did. so it was just all fun and games. >> reporter: want to say anything more than the 140 characters allows you to. >> no. i'm good. >> reporter: it's the first even greater to get another? how would you describe the mind-set now versus coming so close in the past, getting the first one for you personally? >> well, every year is different. every year there's new motivation, it's a new team. and last year was great. it's onto a new year now. we've got the afc championship game. and just want to go out there and perform to my peak. and go out there and do what i got to do to help out this team. and definitely, whenever a new year turns around a new season, as a competitor, you're just always hungry to keep on competing and keep on winning and go as far as possible every
11:46 am
year as a competitor. >> rob, you joked about stepping forward for the first time in six years, do you think you elevated as a leader of this team? >> i mean, i mean, i feel like, up, every time i step into the building, definitely there's guys -- younger guys, newer guys coming in. definitely i feel like definitely ask me stuff, look up to me. and i just got to keep doing what i've been doing, coming in and preparing as hard as possible every single day for the opponent coming up that week. going out to practice, practicing hard and just doing the right things throughout the week. and i'm hoping that people catch on, players catch on, everyone is doing the same thing. the chemistry is falling right and everyone just has the same goal and that's to go out this sunday and get the win. >> reporter: is that different for you, the frat boy tight end, the party guy, is it weird for you to see your six year veteran and leader and standing out? >> i mean, definitely life
11:47 am
i mean, when i was first here as a rookie, i would never thought in six years i would be at the stage i am now, where i am now. but as a competitor, as a football player, you just want player. whatever it takes, every single week, every single year. so definitely it feels good to be where i am at. and i just want to keep on improving, keep on doing whatever i can to help the team. and help the team win on sunday. >> how much did you and tom talk during the week and how much does that help come game day that you guys are pretty much on the same page? >> i mean, we talk just about as much this week as we do any other week. tom and i, we always want to be on the same page. we always want the cem can industry out there to be the same where i know where he's going to throw the ball, where it's going to be appear and all that, where i'm going to be, where he know to put the ball, throughout the week, takes
11:48 am
practice, going out to practice, talking in meetings, going over plays. just doing little things all together. when you go out there on sunday, as an offense, as a whole, everyone is on the same page appeared we have the chemistry flowing and make some plays. >> reporter: how much -- >> i would say over the course of a season, chemistry usually you want it to improve -- if you -- if everyone is coming in, preparing hard, trying to get better every single week, you definitely improve throughout the year. you want to be at max peak of what the chemistry offense every time you hit the field on sundays. all right. thank you guys. >>ll right, you were listening to gronkowski speak at gillette stadium. i think we have another player ready to talk. listen in. >> this experience in these
11:49 am
games matter this time of year? >> i mean, plays a little factor but when it comes down to it, it comes down to us playing good. i mean, executing when it comes down to it. there's going to be a lot of young guys that don't have a lot of experience to come in here and make plays. there's going to be older guys that come in and make plays. it doesn't matter how many playoff games you've been in, just taking it play by play and try to be consistent. >> bill asked you to do a real whole lot of things on the defense in terms of outside -- covering -- support - - how much do you take the pride in your overall verse still with your game. >> the more you can do. the more you can do, the more valuable you are. it comes down to bill gives you an assignment or role for that game, just go out there and do the best you can. and just working hard and, you know, it's worked out for me.
11:50 am
i just got to go into the game with the same mentality that we've been going into for the last 21 games, including preseason and do what he has >> reporter: much about peyton's drop off in performance. never underestimate game. >> yeah, don't do that. >> reporter: >> no, peyton, is peyton. playoffs, a good team. game. and he knows how to slow the game down for himself. and he's a paid ton manning. i mean, when you hear about him. everybody knows who he is. you can't under estimate. i agree with bill on that. he's a baller and he's playing good, he has good players around him. ghosting to lead his team and we're going to try to do the same thing and go out there and try to get this w. >> reporter: denver's passing concept boost a lot of action. how difficult is it to diagnosis pass versus run? what's the difference between peyton pass to the center and osweiler under setter.
quote
11:51 am
>> just reading your keys. i mean, sometimes you might get a jump on certain things but when it comes down just reading your keys. can't be looking in the back field when your guys is running past you, certain things like that. really focussing in and doing your job and just trust that everybody else is going to do their job. guys rush the pass, guys got to cover, just cover and just do it like that. >> tom brady was in here a few moments ago and he mentioned robert kraft and how he sets the tone for success. he actually mentioned, he sits in some of the squad meetings. >> yeah. >> i'm curious what you see from that and what that, as a player, what that -- how you view that? >> every morning, every morning we see him in the squad meeting. he's sitting right there in the back, paying attention, it's good to see as a player. most owners aren't really doing that, he's in there, paying attention, he's always working through the locker room, it's good to know he's working just
11:52 am
we're on the field, he's off the field. it's good to know. good to know that your owner has your back and he's going to be there to make sure he knows what's going on also. and i mean, we like mr. kraft, we call him mean mug, that's our little thing we got. it's good, very good to see. >> where did that come from? >> it's a couple jokes. ha ha. >> a lot of turnovers in certain parts of the team, it seems the safety with you, devin and gerard, may, everybody, has been here for at least a couple of years. what's the chemistry like? it seems like you all get along? what's the chemistry like in that room? how does that translate. >> it's kind of like we're all brothers in there. we work hard. we're always competing, to see who can make the best plays and stuff like that. on top of that, off the field, we hang out. so when you're -- you have a group that's close knit like that, i mean, you're going to be
11:53 am
and hey know what you're this i and just trust in that person, sometimes you make a bad play, you're going to get made fun of. that's what keith says, good play, cool, bad play you're going to hear about it the next day. or even on the sidelines, it's good to have that that xeeps the competitive edge in you. >> reporter: curious from your perspective and the guys defensively in that room, who's the leader of the defense? >> not a bunch ofrara guys, just goes out there doing their job and hold, each other accountable for what they're suppose to do. it takes eleven guys to stop the play. one guy doeses it, a big play. we hold ourselves accountable and let the play on the field be our leadership, i guess. >> to the secondary as a quarterback why us citizen impressions of him.
11:54 am
>> coleman is a good young player. he has been through a little adversity with his injury appear stuff. he's a good player. he's young and i feel he's going to get better. and he's -- this is his first year, so he's going to have some little -- you know, little rough spots but he's good, man. he's learning, he's learning pretty fast. we're depending on him to make some plays. >> all season where you played -- a lot of scrimmage, as often as you are this year. how would you sort of describe how your role has evolved? >> i mean, years change, defenses change. game by game, game plans change, so i mean, it really just comes down to whatever the game plan is for that week. sometimes, i'm back deep more, sometimes up close, sometimes receiver. just matter of the game plan and what we have to do for that game. >> always been a effort of huge play -- sore does that take kind of -- >> i like to be in the action a little bit. so they always keep me down there and just let me play it. but it comes down to whatever
11:55 am
bill wants. bill wants a certain, you know, fit or a certain, you know, way we execute a play, that's how we got to do it. >> generally, ask you to cover tight ends, in general, you're giving away five, six inches, 40, 50 pounds on those guys. so for you, what's the key to stopping them? >> technique. i mean, working out, making sure you're strong, making sure you're explosive. and it's more technique, man. just having the mind-set, just every play is different. you might cover someone this way this play. next play he might get you. you're thinking about a good job on the last play, i should be good. no, things happen. everybody gets paid, they're good players in the nfl. so it comes down to tech -- being a technician, play by play, every single down is a different down. >> do you think you're a safety at this point in your career, bill mentioned that after the game the other night, he said run very fast in terms of -- you
11:56 am
i'm curious, you are older now, but are you faster. >> i mean, i don't know how to answer that. i mean, just -- i'm just playing football. i don't really think about me being faster or slower. just playing football and kind of slowing the game down for me mentally.
