entire event. it starts to peel away as we work after midnight because of the lighter round of snow thinking one to 3 inches of snow in the city and you move north of there and the numbers really drop off. a coating to an inch. 3 to 6 inches. plymouth, out toward fall river and you head into the south coast. 6, 7, 10 inches of snow, strong wind likely tomorrow night, but again, the snow is done sunday morning. 40 mile-per-hour wind gust. higher wind gusts on cape cod, leadg to minor coastal flooding. for more on the storm right now, here's bree. an impressive one to watch, yesterday, ripping through the south with severe weather. there was a report of a tornado along the gold coast states, here is the power house

bracing for one big storm in washington, d.c. a few inches already on the ground and you heard her say 2 feet or more possibly when it is all said and done. >> chris welsh is our nation's capital with a look at the conditions, right now, conditions are worstening. that's the truth we are seeing tonight. snow continuing to come down at a heavier rate, wins are coming faster and more furiously. we continue to head into really the brunt of this storm, which will happen between 1:00 am and 1:00 p.m. that's what the national weather service tweeted out a short time ago. that's what everyone had been expecting with this storm. here in washington, d.c. last official count a couple of hours ago, only 3 and a half inches. we have seen more than this where we are here on the national mall. washington could see 2 and a half feet of snow when all of this is said and done. this storm has turned deadly,

deaths so far. at least 6 of those are from north carolina and they are all traffic related accidents, so it hammers home the point that officials there in north carolina have been making and that's to stay off the roads. we can tell you the state of virginia reporting before 6:00 p.m. more than 800 traffic related accidents were phoned in just before 6:00 p.m. and just in the state of virginia. things not looking up. right now, things only going to get worst as the night goes on. i'm chris welsh reporting in washington, d.c. back to you. the storm is expected to hit the cape the hardest. john cocoa is a live in sandwich with a look at how they are getting ready. >> we saw people getting firewood, in case the water reaches some of the shore roads

>> anchor: a valet driver making a splash in cambridge. he ended up taking a wrong turn into an indoor pool. this happened at a condo building. >> tonight we're learning how the suv ended up taking that dive. night team's elizabeth in cambridge to explain. that driver told investigators the gas pedal got stuck on the floor mat causing it to move forward through a window into that swimming pool. a val lye driver goes on a crash course driving through a window ending up many in a condo complex's swimming pool. >> a loud shutter. saw people running over to the pool. >> people living here in cambridge were shocked. >> first was everyone okay. we thought maybe we had no idea what happened.

roof or something. lucky the valet was okay. night. >> totally unexpected. >> reporter: friday it was all about the clean up. the 22,000 gallons of water had to be drained because it was contaminated. it was sent off as hazardous waste. crews had to check the structure. the accident report states the valet told investigators the pedal got stuck causing it to move forward. he says he thinks he accidentally hit the gas inside of the brakes causing this mess. the valet says the jeep started filling with water and he was trapped inside but was able to kick the door open and escaped with only a few scrapes. >> really glad the valet was safe and he is going to be okay.

tonight the window is boarded up. we're told the valet driver was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. live in cambridge tonight, seven news night team. >> anchor: the latest the winter weather. give you a look at washington d.c. where they're bracing for up to 20 to 30 inches of snow. they could get two-and-a-half feet and it could end up being one of the worst storms in that city's history. >> this is philadelphia and we're talking about the storm impacting the mid-atlantic region. but we've got a map that jeremy reiners put together. to show how it's going affect us locally. especially along the coastline. >> you can see the wealth service has watches and warnings up for the storm. blizzard warning for martha's vineyard. you also notice there's nothing in affect for boston,

it is a drastic stop to the serious affects from the storm. we were thinking that was going to be the challenge all week. it really is the challenge with this forecast. >> it does look like a 12 hour storm. midnight tomorrow through midnight tomorrow night with patchy light snow around metro boston through the events tomorrow afternoon and evening. if you are watching going can i leave my house tomorrow at noon in boston? i have to get to the merrimack valley. you can. just allow a little extra time. different story south shore, south coast and the cape. that's where we think the heavier snow will be. there could be localized coastal flooding at the 11:00 a.m. high tide on sunday. here's the storm system right here. all sorts of moisture coming out of the gulf mexico in the atlantic ocean. a closer look on the doppler radar out of metro d.c., baltimore. plumes of heavy snow. we're talking two, three, four lucky to have thunderstorm overnight. we lived this for several storms last year. we don't need to do it again

i think for the city itself we're going miss out on this opportunity for significant snow. i know everyone including yours truly. i would like a little snow but we don't need 20 to 30 inches every five day like last year. high pleasure toss thank. it nudges the storm out to sea. such a good job of doing that as we work into sunday skies clear. light snow around metro boston. steadier snow narragansett bay, buzzard's bay. watch the steadier snow. the blue. it never does make it up into boston. it does pretty much stay confined to south east mass for the entire event. by midnight tomorrow night already metro boston the patchy lake snow and flurries winding down and the fedier snow -- steadier snow moves away by sunday. the thinking has not changed all that much since last night with metro boston.

around the metro inside 128. north and south shore. head up toward route two a coating to an inch possible. farther south i have added this. of the day. i've added more snow because of that heavier plume of snow coming off the water. six to ten inches likely in the pink. three to six inches along route 44. i think as you work out towards chatham and nantucket a heavier, wetter snow at times mixed in with rain. higher gust osz the cape and islands. that's the northeast wind and that's going to pin water at the coastline for two high tides. 11:00 p.m. tomorrow night and the 11:00 a.m. on sunday. that might lead to minor coasto flooding from boston to scituate on sunday. mix of clouds and sunshine on sunday. some asking this is the start of another blitz? no way jose. look at next week. tuesday we're going to flirt
