>> 7news at 5:30 starts now. >> we're following two breaking 5:30. first police on the scene of a shooting. officers say someone opened fire during a fight about a parking space. investigators also on the scene of an explosion, this happening in quincy. >> several people were injured in that blast. adam williams joins us now with the details. >> reporter: first an update on the shooting in dorchester. the victim has been rushed to be all right. police say this started when a man parked his car in a cleared out spot on nightengale street. that's when another guy got angry, telling the driver he shovelled that spot out for his own car. when the thriver didn't leave the spot quickly enough, police say the other man shot him in the stomach. investigators have identified the gunman but are looking for him at this hour. out to quincy. an explosion at a water treatment plant sent five people to the hospital. they're ought maintenance workers for the massachusetts

officials say this explosion happened three floors below ground when something went wrong with a piece of equipment. firefighters immediately evacuated the building. all five victims suffered minor injuries. officials are emphasizing this has nothing to do with drinking water. we will be staying on top of both of these breaking stories. in the news ram, i'm adam williams, 7news. >> we're following more breaking news. a former patriots player accused of foul play at a bar in foxbor. jj what areton was arrested over the weekend accused with sa with assault. >> he says he is claiming self-defense. >> reporter: j.j. what areton played four years at the university of central florida returning punts and catching passes. the pay trees signed him to the practice squad this month, but it appears his career in new england it over. foxboro police charged the 24-year-old with three felonies including indecent assault. it's claimed he brabbed two

out a boyfriend of one of them. >> it was wrong of him. it looks bad for the team. >> reporter: a foxboro police report lists what areton as 6' 2", 2 #- 10 pounds. police say he was went to the eye rush pub friday night and got into tubl as he left at 1:00 a.m. officers officially responded to the bar, got a description of a car and pulled over the vehicle and found what areton with a man and two women inside. police say what areton claimed he had just left boston but later admitted had he been at the pub. the report says he accidentally brushed up against a woman and was confronted by her boyfriend. the report says j.j. claimed "he tried to run away from the boyfriend but he would not leave him alone. he had to punch him in the face and it left him unconscious." >> sad it had to happen now. >> just lost the championship and now more bad news

>> reporter: we got no response to a door knock at a home where the male assault victim lives. >> police in concord, new hampshire are searching more an armed robber who allegedly stabbed a convenience store clerk. officials say the robber walked into the store on main street, drew his knife and demanded cash. the clerk fought back and that's when the attacker stabbed his hand. that clerk is expected to be ok. harvard university is closing a case after an alarming vandalism last november. university officials say they confind the person who put black tape over these photos in law building. investigators believe the photos were targeted of african-americans. the law department says security cameras will be installed in building come the near future. >> mayor marty walsh spoke the a graduation ceremony for firefighters this morning. 50 people graduated from boston's training academy.

investigators say the situation quickly escalated. >> it's a relatively quiet community here, very close knit. it's just shock. >> police say they're working to figure out who shot first and if the survivour victims will be charged with a crime. >> a man takes a deadly drive through the wall of a parking garage in an atlanta mall. the driver killed in this. his car smashed through concrete, hitting a worker and an adjacent hotel. the worker was not seriously hurt. witnesses say the driver was speeding. >> firefighters in virginia struggling to battle a home up in flames hereafter heavy snowfall buried fire hydrants across the area. the massive snow storm dropped over two feet of snow over the weekend. you see firefighters working to put that fire out. officials are encouraging people to dig out their hydrants to avoid another situation like this one. >> the water crisis in flint, michigan is under investigation. the state's attorney-general announced an independent

wooster, 33 . gorgeous winter day today. lots of sunshine. yes t. was a little bit cold this morning. and throughout the afternoon a little bit on the cool side. more clouds off to the south and west and within the clouds we've noticed a couple of sprinkles but milder air. the tradeoff not as bright but milder with temperatures tomorrow heading for the middle and upper 40s. tonight, not as cold. partly cloudy skies. the numbers tonight just after midnight are in the mid scpl upper 20s. those temperatures will start to slowly rise by tomorrow morning. through the day tomorrow, mostly cloudy. breezy tomorrow but, again, it's a southwesterly breeze helping to warm things between 45 and 50 . the city tomorrow around 49 . framingham, 49 as well. dartmoth, melting that snow from the weekend at 46 .
