newst 4:30. >> jadiann: breaking news here at 4:30. amtrak signal problems causing trouble for commuters all day long. amtrak officials announcing itself issue will not be fixed tonight. crews are having to manually operate the train switches. so that limits how many trains can enter and exit the station. the trouble on the tracks causing nightmares for people travelling in and out of boston this morning. you can see literally thousands of people were left waiting on packed platforms and at south station for trains that never came. the updated schedule is on whdh.com. more on tonight's tough commute at 5:30. >> adam: a revere police officer rushed to the hospital this morning after crashing his cruiser there in chelsea. the officer was chasing another car when this accident happened. >> jadiann: officer taken to the hospital with serious injuries. jenna is live with more on what happened. >> reporter: this was a police chase that started in revere.

a report of a suspicious person in a car. witnesses say that officer was going very fast when he crashed into this telephone pole you see here. they rushed over to help him. a revere officer lost control of his cruiser slamming into one telephone pole than another. it happened just after 8:00 this morning. >> we heard a loud roar. like car racing. >> reporter: ortiz saw a person in a white car speeding ahead of the officer. >> the car length behind it chasing right after it didn't make the turn so it spun out. >> reporter: ortiz ran to help. >> when we got close enough the cop opened the door. fell out. someone help me. >> he was in shock. he couldn't stop shaking. we threw jackets over him and put one jacket under his head. >> reporter: how was he doing? >> not doing good. he wasn't even talking. he said help me. help moe and we got hip out. he was bleeding. he was holding his ribs.

hours stabilizing and righting the poles. revere police say their officer should be okay. something ortiz is glad to hear. >> hope he is doing okay. just crazy moment. just happened so fast. >> reporter: the officer is at mass general hospital. as far as the suspect. that person was last scene speeding away from the scene heading tort east boston in a white car. police are searching for the person. jennifer egan, 7 news. >> adam: new at 4:30 a tractor trailer truck crashing feet from a home in today. you see the pictures here. the truck hit a tree and two poles before come to a stop. no one was injured. power. police working to determine what caused the crash. the mashpee school superintendent accused of trespassing at a student's house is found not guilty. brian hyde was facing breaking and charging and trespassing charges after prosecutors said he walked into the home without

rummaged through a 17-year-old's belongings. they say he was checking to see if she lived in the district. today a judge said he couldn't be convicted from the home. >> jadiann: a bad break allows water to pour no a haverhill school library damaging costly computers. leaders at the school say a burst pipe is to blame. workers are using the february break to clean up before kids come back. susan tran report with how much more works needs to be done. >> reporter: it sounded like a shower. that someone turned on in the middle of a haverhill school library. >> books, compute e everything got covered with the materials from the ceiling and the water. >> reporter: all of it ruined. >> this is the office area. >> reporter: superintendent james scully took us on a tour of the damage at the school. where everything wet had to go. >> there is materials, fire proofing materials on the

and some of that material has asbestos into it. that is why we take precautions. >> reporter: an asbestos removal team called in. haverhill had a springler head break flooding a classroom as well as the high school but here this pipe did the most damage. the water rained down into the library. the hallways and the offices. >> if you had a bad behavior record you probably are absorbed of your crimes. if that record has been destroyed. >> reporter: hundreds of books, dozens of computers gone. the good news, school was out for winter break. but the race to get the classrooms ready for school to start monday. >> it's an awful lot of damage. everybody is working hard to get it solved. >> reporter: susan tran, 7 news. >> adam: new details about the florida teenager accused of posing as a doctor. 18-year-old malkaye robinson

at what authorities call a medical practice that he set up. prosecutors said the practice was being operated. the teenager accused of posing as a doctor does not feel he lied to community. >> i've gone into steps that were necessary for me to take to become where i am now. like i said, some people may say the steps were not at quaid or were not the traditional route but i've never been a traditional guy. >> adam: he was also accused posing as a doctor last year wandering the holes of a nearby hospital but never charged. >> jadiann: a jury acquitting a man accused of stalking a famous actress. gwen eliminate palro says the man sent her dozens of unsolicited gifts. the man was committed to an constitution in early 2000 after he was accused of

>> adam: evans is facing felony, aggravated battery and drug charges. >> jadiann: a man in florida took a joy ride in a backhoe. police say it started when the man dumped boulders on a highway. he then drove up and down the bridge -- for an hour and a half. deputies noded to use strike strips to stop him. it's a smash and grab. suspect smashing windows in order to get to the merchandise. stealing thousands of dollars worth of stuff vandalizing the store and the suspect are still on the run. the burglars used cinder blocks not just to break through but to break into the glass display cases. four suspects who trashed this store in washington state. >> glass all over the floor. cases were smashed. the whole place looked like a bomb went off. >> reporter: the store manager feels violated twice. once at loosing $18,000

it's easier to feel the warmth as we make it through the next few months. spring is on the way. clouds that are on the outer cape and this is where we could see a few flakes tonight. ocean effect snow showers not out of the question. i don't expect any accumulation out of this. for the rest of us, with clear sky, those temperatures will be dropping. so a very cold night ahead of us. lows in the teens for most spots. 13 worcester. 15 bedford. 19 degrees for boston. that will be those lows, very early tomorrow morning. if you have maybe a pike ride or long run planned, if you can hold off until the middle or afternoon. clouds move in new in the afternoon but temperatures will be warmer than where they were today and close to exactly where we should be for this time ofyear -old. normal high for boston is 39. tomorrow we make it close to high pressure keeps the sunshine around for the first part of the day and we could see flakes out of this warm front. seems contradictory but we're pushing in milder air for the weekend and into the

from high above around the area of route 128. stoneham, woburn section. not moving too badly. the northbound traffic is leaving the area, southbound coming at us and both side moving along relatively well. making your way to downtown boston, not so great. this is 93 northbound and southbound. right in the center of the city. southbound ride combining with the backup on the expressway, 93 northbound is about a 38-minute ride. leaving the city and making your way over to route 128. tight traffic here on the pike westbound heading out to the weston area and clearing the 128 toll plaza, 128 northbound been on the brakes as well up by route 3 in burlington and getting by route 93 in the woburn area. southbound on the expressway tight volume down by morrissey boulevard but no accidents or breakdowns. >> jadiann: thank you. ahead boy scouts going above and beyond.
