child died aftering its by a car car. kim khazei is live in the newsroom here with the details and all of these breaking stories. >> anchor: busy da. first the arrest in connection to the umass amherst lock down. the teen-ager in custody is from framingham and not a student at the university. 19-year-old william mccowan waived his appearance p court but is being hell on several charges including assault and battery with a danger use weapon weapon. police say he turn himself in today after framingham list found a car connected to the incident. now school leaders had told students to shelter in place last night. that was campus wide when reports came in that two men attacked a student in one of the dorms and that one of the attack attackers showed a gun. that student by the way suffered a small cut to his head. and about two hours later, the school lifted the lock down. and heart breaking news out of roxbury just five months old a baby hit by a car late last night on hum bolt avenue has died. the mother and baby were both hospital.

suspected he vie layed his parole for a drunk driving crash crash. now the case has been moved to adult court. he could face 120 days in jail for violating his probation. the trials of several police officers charged in death of freddy gray had been delayed. maryland supreme court said it would take up the are uof whether william porter could be forced to testify against the other officers. porter is facing a retrial in the case. the could you's decision means the other officers will not go to trial until the testimony issue is resolved. freddy gray died last april after suffering a spinal injury when he was placed in the back of a police van. he was handcuffed and shackled but he was not restrained by a seat belt. the officer the were indicted in may. state and fall officials are sending money to flint, michigan to help with the city's water crisis there. the city's water had been contaminated with lead. the state approved 30 million water bills. the governor also announced a $2 million grant to help the city replace some of its pipes.

eventually it will turn to some time line getting ahead of myself here. right around midnight tonight seeing those flakes flying but they dent last for very long so it won't amount to very much. it's those areas that want to hold on to the cold a little bit longer up in north of route 2 that we see the best chance for a coating to an inch of accumulation. look at that mild air that starts to surge in by the time we hit daybreak tomorrow. five, 6, 7:00 a.m. we're already up to 40 degrees so what's left that moisture turns to rain early in the morning before a dry period midday make it up to 50 degrees for a high and then a spot shower, a chance after spot shower as we get into evening hours of toll. how much snow are we in for? as i mentioned, better chance north of the mass pike even bet are chance north and west of 495 495. a coating to an inch it will quickly be gone when those temperatures rise tomorrow. overnight tonight 27 to 35, those temperatures rising as the night goes on and then tomorrow 46 to 55.

a chance to thaw out with those temperature well above average. closer to april standards than february but it doesn't necessarily mean that we're done with winter just yet. can't put a fork in it. we do have an active pattern as i mentioned seing up for us next week and that starts on monday. this is more aggressive i think for as far as forecast models go this storm system on monday it's more of a short wave. it just sort of passes by out southeast but it could bring us some sleet and it could coat the roads with some snow for the morning commute on monday but it's more of a nuisance than a major problem. the big headline will be the midweek storm system and we're still watching that one latest forecast models are resulting it could come in the form of two different systems, wednesday and thursday which means we have a shot at rain snow mix beth of those days but we'll continue to track it. >> anchor: who says grilling is just for the summer? this week we're getting to take

it's sox spring training on 7. 7 news at 6:00 starts now! first at 6:00 breaking news out of framingham. police arresting a man in connection to an attack at umass amherst. that attack injured students, sent that campus into lock down . >> anchor: today the suspect turned himself into police. dan house lelive in framingham with the breaking details and why it ends up here in framingham. dan? well, framingham is a long way from umass amherst, but police in amherst always said this was not a student suspected in the assault and this man has an dress in framingham and as you said he turned himself in. william, did you attack that kid at umass? >> reporter: william taken out of the framingham court house it a waiting prisoner van that will take him to hampshire county where investigators say he assaulted a umass amherst student late thursday. the armed attack sending the sprawling campus into lock down. the students were told to

say two men attack a student in a freshman dorm, one of the men pull a gun. the student suffered a small cut to his head. today, framingham police announced his arrest in the case and investigators say the teen turned himself in after a car concerned to the case was found here in framingham. back at umass amherst, campus police say lacks dorm security played a part in the assault. they knew so these people clearly were escorted into the residence hall by a pier pine hall resident. and as i mentioned yesterday that building as well as all of our umass buildings are 24 hours a day locked. and require an escort and that indeed was confirmed by video and witness statements . he is expected continue arraigned in hampshire county monday on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. and at that monday court appearance we could learn more about the allege adsalt possible low a motive behind it. police say they have been talk
