5:23 pm
rhode island moving up into massachusetts, reports of flurries in worcester and hubards ton. there is some steadier snow south of massachusetts. it's down here, connecticut and rhode island. perhaps you can see is at home. those are the heavier plumes of snow and they will try to move north into massachusetts. i think dry air will rip them apart or reshape them. it's a weather system that really is going to have to fight to get your attention. and i think it will for a few hours this evening, later on this evening and overnight tonight but even with that said, warm air does win the battle. so the storm time line again we'll see the patches of light snow and flurries work north through massachusetts and then eventually up into new hampshire. so it will be snowing steadily for a few hours. emergency mark valley
5:24 pm
just after midnight and then at that time then milder air begins to work the rain-snow line off the south shore, slowly off the metrowest. this is a slow process back towards 495 and the merrimac valley. the snow easily flips over terrain. the morning commute tomorrow, it's probably a slow-go but not because of snow or sleet or freezing rain but there will be a burst of steadier rainfall tomorrow morning and then it will taper off to just lighter rainfall activity through the day tomorrow. how much snow before the change over. i'm thinking one to two inches of snow. you know how storms are, there may be one to two towns with closer to three but generally one or two. closer to the coastline i think there's more and more warm air that's fending off those snow flakes. coating to an inch in the western suburbs, even city, jp, hyde park. then you get down towards the waterfront, north shore, south shore.
5:25 pm
snowing but i don't think it accumulates to much more than the grassy, elevateed surfaces but prim low wet roads in downtown boston, north and south shore. traveling over the next couple of hours okay. i do think for a few hours it will be poor travel out toward 495, worcester hills and tomorrow during the day, it's not because of snow or ice, it's because of rain. and rain in the summertime can slow you down. part two of the storm is way down here. it's the warmer portion of the storm but it takes all day to warm it's cool and raw tomorrow with periods of rain. as we work toward tomorrow night, then we get a shot of briefly heavy rain into early thursday morning. the amount of rainfall on the way tomorrow night and thursday morning, about an inch, inch and a half of rain and the wind will gust briefly thursday morning between 30 to perhaps 50 miles per hour on the south shore as well as the cape. that's thursday morning, morning. in any event some sun thursday afternoon and a spring-like day.
