>> this is 7news now. >> christa: good morning. if you're just waking up or if you were kept up by the severe weather overnight, we have lots to talk about on "today in new england." >> sarah: wild weather moved through the area this morning. strong winds doing damage. this tree came down on a car in cambridge, crushing the roof and breaking the windows. there are also thousands of power outages throughout the state. >> christa: in boston the the heaviest rain rolling through around 3:30. boy did it bring quite a lightning show. there were also rumbles of thunder with these storm, as well. >> sarah: speaking of lightning, look at these pictures sent to 7 from barbara in framingham. it's hard to believe these were taken early this morning, making the lightning -- the lightning

middle of the day. of course it was dark outside. even driving enter work this morning, the bolting of lightning were so strong, seeing them come down toward the city. >> christa: a lot of water on the roadways. two hands on the wheel as you head out. chris, how long will it stick around? >> chris: it looks like for the next two hours. the morning commute, 6:00 a.m. and on, mabley dry. severe thunderstorm getting set to expire. down through plymouth county, these strongest storms now off to the east. we had quite the lightning show marshfield, duxbury, up into scituate and gusty winds. still have some gusty winds, just not as strong as the worst of the storm has passed off to the east. in the city of boston, an amazing light show 2:45, 3:00 a.m. not only, that we had damaging wind gusts coming down. we had wind gusts 69mph in boston and 83mph on top of blue hill. out toward carver, back toward
