of days but we don't have we have another cold front. that is the main event moving through. that is offshore. and this second front moving through, it's not going to night. it's leading to a couple of isolated showers, that is the case this evening. still some wind out there. winds gusting 25, 35 miles an hour, boston gusts to 41. nantucket and new bedford gusting to 40 miles an hour so we have a wind advisory in effect until 7:00 meaning winds occasionally gusting over 40 miles an hour then i think after 7:00 pm, the wind will settle down a little bit. although even overnight through the day tomorrow we'll still have some wind out there and it becomes a chilly wind. wind are out of the southwest. once the second front moves through the winds will shift to the northwest that. will send temperatures downhill. now 50 degrees. we did reach the low 60s very early this morning. for much of the day we hung out in the 50s, but as the second front moves through, it'll allow the colder air, it's bitterly cold.

records. burlington is 39. albany 41. the chilly air moves back in the northeast. temperatures tomorrow seasonal. meaning afternoon highs to upper 30s to around 40. the weekend forecast coming up. >> adam: the storm that hit us overnight packing a punch not just here but across the country. it sparked dozens of tornadoes to south of us and left hundreds o thousands without power. roads shut down, all the way from virginia to new york. the powerful storm system which brought tornadoes to the deep south tuesday barreled into the northeast overnight. in pennsylvania, 50 homes damaged. high winds brought down branch, toppled trees and left thousands without power. >> our traffic peen is wrapped around the -- trampoline is wrapped around the telephone pole. >> reporter: those gusts are blamed for knocking over a tractor trailer and snarling traffic on the george washington bridge. the world's busiest.

more than 20 tornado warnings, more than just year alone in one day and it's only february. virginia took a deadly punch. two men and a toddler died wednesday when they were' tossed 300 yards from a trailer. >> i that saw the roof flying every where and what can you do? you snow, you just -- you caught up in it. >> reporter: a man in south carolina killed by a falling tree. >> he was laying down and the tree was on top of him. he was hurt. he was hurt. he was. >> reporter: the storm turned snow across the nation's mid section and in new york and parts of new england thousands of flights delay and cancelled. fueled by the strongest el nino on records leaving thousands of americans wondering which piece to pick up first. a risky rescue off the coast of new york. a coast guard vessel capsized frying to help a fishing vessel that ran aground. that is coming up here on 7 news in about ten minutes from right now. >> jadiann: following

sky 7 over the scene where a car has slammed into a parked van. this is happening right there on mount pleasant avenue. and roxbury. you can see there are police on the scene as they are trying to figure out what happened here. a lot of damage done to the car. no report of any injuries and we'll bring you more details as the story unfolds. >> adam: also on 7 a car slams into a school in springfield. you can see crews at this elementary school, the car smashed into the front of the building. police say the driver had a medical issue which caused her to lose control of the car. she was taken to the hospital. no one else there was injured. >> jadiann: also bad weather is being blamed for a teen tragedy in barry. police say a 17-year-old was driving to school when she lost control of her car on an icy broad. john kukos has reaction from the town. >> reporter: friend say britney was out going and popular. she was a senior and an honor role student at

where she was also a cross country runner. very smart and nice. `she has a lot of friends. >> whenever i saw britney, she was always smiling and the she always looked pretty happy. chefs', she was a good student. >> reporter: it was on her way to school wednesday morning after a two-hour delay too to icy roads, she lost control of her car on tree. police say she was killed. her younger brother a was seriously hurt. >> there was a two-hour delay due to weather conditions and we believe that the roadway was in some spots covered with black ice or some slush. >> no one knew then towards the end of the day people started to find out and people were just crying and they didn't know what to say. >> reporter: right now, family and friends say they're all trying to support each other and the family as they mourn this tragic loss.

cameras,est ward sigliano not commenting on his punishment of probation. the firefighter stole tens of thousands of dollars from the city the attorney general's office says and in one case they say he even bought himself a 52-inch tv with city funds. >> this is not any larceny or any procurement fraud. this is larceny and procurement fraud by a public employee invested with the public trust. the evidence in this case shows repeated conduct over multiple years. >> reporter: however the firefighters sat shaking his head during his sentencing clearly disagreeing with the prosecutor said he did. he was an air force veteran who helped out on 9/11 even rescued one firefighter from a burning building. the 46-year-old was a victim of bad politics.

very good man. and this is was a witch hunt >> reporter: you don't think it was a mistake -- did he write the checks? >> i don't know. i don't know. >> reporter: as part of the sentencing he will have to pay back all the money. city says he stole. news. >> adam: new details about a deadly tent collapse in new hampshire. a florida based circus operator is fighting the more than $33,000 in fines proposed by federal safety officials. officials say the company failed to put up the tent properly and ignored severe weather warnings last august. a vermont man and his daughter killed when storms blew down the tent at the lancaster fair grounds. the video of chandler jones' incident outside the foxboro police station will not be leased to the public. william galvin rejected requests for the footage to be released citing jones' privacy.

>> jadiann: turning back to the wild weather that swept up the east coast. a dramatic rescue in new york today. the storm causing a coast guard vessel to capsize. the crew was trying to help people on a fishing boat that ran aground. >> adam: a initialing boat getting into trouble off the coast of new york. >> they were' getting water over the railing going into the vessel. >> adam: the fisherman on board did all they could but they couldn't stop the 74-foot boat from running aground. >> they were' using punches to pump it over and overtime they floated and this is where they ended up. >> reporter: that is what the coast guard was called in. but what started as a routine rescue turned no even more trouble. the rough waters were no watch for one of the ships sent to help and it capsized in the waves. five coast guard members

when you go back to the first of the december, the first day of meteorological winter which meteorologist look at the three coldest months of the year we've had 33 days where the temperature has been at 50 or warmer. that's a record. last winter we only had nine days where the temperature was higher than 50 degrees. that all happened in the front half of winter because the back half was cold and snow. here we've 40s and 50s across eastern new england. the air is colder back through toronto and buffalo and pittsburgh going from the 50s down to the 20s, we'll go through another cold front but that will not lead to thunderstorms but what it'll do is send temperatures tomorrow morning for the commute back toed lower 30s. the moving process of moving the warmth out resulting in a clouds and a scattering of showers but the showers are not overwhelming or heavy but there will be a few rain drops out and about across

this storm system right here. that is the front that came blasting through southern new england last evening with the severe thunderstorms. and it has a long history. this started down along the gulf coasts and roared up the eastern seaboard through the have as and the mid atlantic and into new england last night. all the little icons right here indicating where we had wind damage and, i counted these up individual. in massachusetts alone, over 50. those are just the ones reported. i'm sure there were many others that didn't get reported. unreal thunderstorm activity. it's not unusual to have the occasional thunderstorm but last night it's once in every 25-30 years, so winds gusting 25-35 miles an hour. wind advisory south shore, south coast. their wind will fade but westerly 10-15 miles an hour, tomorrow northwest wind 10-20. makes it a much colder day with temperatures tomorrow 36-42.

officially charged with raping a child. let's get to tim caputo with details for us. >> reporter: the information just coming in to. a main accord firefighters under arrest charged with raping a child. this incident allegedly happening back in 1991. police say 59-year-old james mcgillvray was arrested earlier today. earlier this month on february 5th he was placed on administrative leave with the fire department as the detentives started an investigation to allegations of the sexual assault of a child. he has been a firefighter in the town since 1986. again arrested at his home earlier today for a charge of raping a child with force. a termination hearing for his role with the fire department will be held in early march according to town officials. as for his criminal case, he will be arraigned in middlesex superior court tomorrow morning. the latest live from the breaking news desk, tim caputo, 7 news. >> jadiann: first at 5:30 a legal battle brews foing
