happened. steve cooper continues our team coverage for us. steve. >> adam, while grief stricken family members and friends in seclusion tonight, boston police are very busy right now, trying to piece together exactly what happened in connection with this tragic event. >> it's heart-breaking. >> reporter: the grief is unimaginable for family and friends, shaken to the core over the tragic death of 7-year-old kyzr willis of dorchester. a frantic four-hour search before the young boy's body was found 15 carson beach early tuesday night. police say he wandered off by the l street bathhouse. >> it's an active investigation. we have investigators here now and just trying to find out, you know, the last hours, what happened to the child. >> reporter: the bathhouse remained closed through the day where earlier camp staff gathered to meet with grief

parents like colleen burns, who has spent a lot of time at carson beach with her own kids, are heart broken and anxious for answers. >> i think the water is very danes. it's dangerous for people even if they know how to swim. it's just dangerous. can't take your eyes off kids that age. >> so while police are continuing to interview witnesses, one thing they don't have access to is any surveillance video because there are no cameras here along dade boulevard. they're also awaiting the autops live in south boston tonight, steve cooper, 7news. and we're following more breaking news at this hour. police in mashpee in a standoff right now. >> they're saying a man is barricaded inside a business. jonathan hall live in mashpee with more breaking details. do they know yet if this guy is armed at all? >> adam, they don't know for sure, apparently, although, we're getting very little information from the police. you can see route 28 behind me is blocked off from deer

line where we are. this is in the 700 block of falmouth road where this is happen at a business park. the mashpee police chief told a local teacher he's concerned a man is holed up in a business, possibly with several weapons, possibly high-powered weapons, but he said they don't know for sure. the chief says this began shortly after noon. the man was despondent and the situation escalated. police tactical units responded. but po the public. we spoke with scene who heard a shot and was then evacuated. >> they took good care of us. they got us across >> they were telling you to stay away -- >> stay away from the windows so -- and just be patient. >> the police are being patient. it has been going on, as i say, since just about noon. a six-hour ordeal with route 28 blocked off. we're told a trained police

also here on 7, a race to the rescue in spencer. a man crashes into a house. the driver gets trapped, and then witnesses tie to do some heavy lifting to help this person. >> very heavy lifting. 7's kelli o'hara live in spencer. she spoke to one of those people who really tried her best to help out. >> this entire neighborhood trying to help out. this is what they tell me happened. that man was at the stop sign right here when he had a medical issue, a instead of the brakes. he ended up slamming into this. the fire chief says luckily that neighborhood came together to help that man. because of, that he's lucky to be alive. the vehicle is on the driver's side and people are coming down here.

robber on the busy intersection after a driver crashes into the side of the home and then flipping it. you can see people running over to help including save the driver including one good samaritan that didn't want to show his face on camera. >> unfortunately, his arm was out of the window and when the vehicle rolled on its side it landed on his arm and about 8 of us were able to rock the van up and get some blocks underneath it >> reporter: the driver suffering a major medical issue, not only injuring his arm, but his head, as well. >> neighbors say it was important to get him out as soon as possible. the good samaritans say they were able to free the man by finding bits of wood from the wreckage and freeing his arm just in the nick of time. the fire chief says any longer and that driver may have not been so lucky.

right in to help them out like that. >> and you can see the impact of that crash as caution tape surrounds the porch. as for the condition this man, well, he did have surgery last night on his arm but still in the hospital. doctors are monitoring his condition because did he have a severe head injury, as well. in spencer tonight, kelli o'hara, 7news. and there's more news today. two people are dead after a head-on crash in police say a 24-year-old, a middleboro woman, was driving the wrong way on route 495 south when she smashed into a car head-on. the driver of that car was a 27-year-old taunton man. both drivers were killed. an suv engulfed the flames in brookline. it began smoking and burst into flames. the fire even spread to a nearby fence, as you can see off to the right there, that wooden fence. the suv is a total loss. >> brigham women's hospital successfully helps a bulldog in a sticky situation.

a break in the heat wave for some of away from the coastline, though, the heat wave rolls on for many locations. if you're sitting there going, it was just as hot today, i get that, but we did have a sea breeze that knocked those temperatures down, at least for boston, but also along the coastline for a time today. and that sea breeze is still kicking. so i think our opportunity to jump up to 90, it's been past. so we're done with that. tomorrow we're back foot 90s for most of us. and you can see still warm away from the coastline as well. cooling off into the 80s for

tomorrow, 94, looks like our average high. and then on friday, relief from the heat and also from the drought as we start to track some downpours, moving through the area. this looks like beneficial rainfall. first this cool front. that's on the way to us tomorrow, and as that sags to the south, i i'd give it about a 10% chance for an isolated shower or storm. a better chance comes on friday. here's why. here comes that front. it just so the of stalls out to the south of us and a low-pressure system forms, wants to join that would give the atmosphere a little extra scweejing of our sponge or washcloth to are put some beneficial rainfall over our area, as we make it through friday afternoon and into the evening hours. though, i wouldn't rule out a scattered shower early on in the day on friday, as well, if you have plans. it might be a wet one. we're looking at an inch to 2 inches of rainfall on the way, not out of the question with heavier amounts focused across the south coast. here's a look at your 7 on 7
