brandon has that part of the story. >> reporter: the mystery is how and exactly when that boy got back into the water. it was sometime between 2:15 and 2:30. that's not helping anyone. this has been ruled an accidental drowning, and clearly a very sad tragedy. >> it breaks our heart. it breaks everyone's heart, and i think the whole city is grieving that we lost such a young child. >> reporter: the boston police commissioner announced late this afternoon that the death of 7-year-old kyzr willis was an accidental drowning and no foul play is suspected. on tuesday he was at a city-run summer camp when he somehow got back in the water when everyone he was preparing to leave. >> you can only guess here that you lose sight of a kid for even seconds, a tragedy like this can happen. unfortunately, it breaks our

you need eyes on him 24/7. it's a terrible tragedy. >> reporter: the beach was shut down for hours as police began an extensive four-hour search, the worst fears around 7:00 when his body was found in the water. >> kyzr was a very energetic 7-year-old who had unfortunately a lot of energy and a lot of life. i have to tell you, he was loved. he was -- if there was -- out of the 56 children in there, he was what was described to us as the >> reporter: we've also learned the boy didn't know how to swim. a counselor was teaching him how to swim that very afternoon. we're live outside boston police headquarters. breaking news out of manchester, new hampshire. a deadly fire in early june was an accident caused by smoking material that lit a piece of furniture on fire. it smoldered for an hour and a

in flames. four people died in the fire. they were all in the same apartment, and two of the victims were children. >> a couple entering guilty pleas after a deadly meningitis outbreak in 2012. investigators say it stemmed from tainted steroids made at the new england compounding center. 64 people died as a result of taking those steroids. >> hundreds of others got sick. the couple that made that deal today won't serve any time behind bars. dan housley is live in boston with the breakingai >> reporter: that's right. no jail time for either of the couple here. the prosecutors finally brought this case almost four years after the scandal first broke to light. company co-founder doug lass and carla conigliaro leave court. they were shut down. prosecutors same operatorsful framingham company knowingly sent tainted drugs with expired

64 people died in seven states and hundreds were more were sickened in a meningitis outbreak. the defense lawyer said the couple had nothing to do with the day-to-day operation of the company. >> doug and carla conigliaro have been extremely remorseful for days one. they contributed the millions of dollars to the settlement in this case. >> reporter: the conigliaro pled guilty to money laundering for how they moved money around after the doug admitted he did to avoid bank reporting and carla did it the same way. a dozen others associated with new england compounding face much more serious charges. the head farmists supervising pharmacists go on trial. their lawyer insisted it shows how little they had to do with the tragic deaths their company

people that look forward to moving with the lives and their five childrens. >> reporter: they'll be sentenced in november. they won't say if they're promising to neve in the other folks' trials. we've live in south boston. more breaking news. no charges are filed in connection with with a video game company run by boston red sox great curt schilling. that company defaulted on a $75 million loan. we're live in the noo have now determined. >> investigators say this was ultimately just a bad deal. no charges will be filed. curt schilling, a former world series champion with the red sox, founded the company and it collapsed in 2012 after receiving a $75 million loan backed by rhode island taxpayers. today's findings come after a four-year investigation into the deal. rhode island state police say they conducted more than 100 interviews as part of that investigation, and nothing was

indictment. >> the officials who knew the $75 million increase was intended for 38 studios prior to the legislative vote did not disclose this information to the full house and senate. we have found no probable cause to establish that a crime was committed. it is the investigative opinion of the rhode island state police and the department of attorney general that a bad deal does not always equate to an indictment. >> so fully disclosed the financial condition to the state. a civil suit filed by the state against the architects of the deal goes to court this fall. and 7 news now turning to your weather. this friday got off to a soggy start for some of us. people break out the umbrellas and ponchos to stay drive. what's next? how is the weekend looking? >> not bad. a mix of clouds and sunshine right now. tomorrow is the nicer of the two

we have a few leftover showers and downpours marching through the connecticut river valley. not really related to the rainstorm this morning. it would have been nice to get this rain to stay with us the o situation, but it rolls as the storm rolls out to southeast with most towns not enough. nantucket as well as martha's vineyard at the south coast we found most of the rainfall amounts. the city of boston about .06 inches of up 60s and 70s. air temperatures not as hot as we have been. the city is at 77 and bedford at 82. that weather system moves away. another one will move into new england with a scattering of showers. we have the time line in a few minutes. the search is on for a man that broke intoing a hingham home and assaulted an eltd lee woman. what believe have revealed about

white male with thinning gray hair, brown eyes and a thin recalled. >> that's very concerning for anyone to do something like that. >> reporter: detectives think his motive may have been the sec yam attack. >> nothing was stolen? >> at this time we don't believe anything was stolen from the house. >> police say this happened on the north side of hingham and won't say what street to protect the identity of the victim in this case. anybody w knows anything about call the police. we're live in hingham, jonathan hall, 7 news. a man accused in an alarming attack appearing in court today. they say he assaulted a woman in winthrop. he allegedly offered to give the 25-year-old a ride in his car, then followed and attacked her when she refused. his 3-year-old daughter was inside the car the whole time. part of that assault was caught on surveillance video, so there's evidence.

that's what led to his arrest. former vice president al gore's daughter is back in court today. karrina gore and a group of activists were arrested last month. she pled not guilty. she was among 23 protesters arrested. a 26-year-old man is dead after a serious crash. he was killed when his car collided with a tractor trailer. now, the crash happened on washington street and completely closed downha several hours. a young girl in his car was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. a dorchester woman following directions from her gps ends up in that wire act. place say her gps ordered her to turn around and she so quickly offoa ends up vertical and in utility pole wires in vermont on wednesday. luckily, no one was hurt. cinderella the sea gull

well, a cinderella story is brewing in new bedford, but it's far from a fairy tale. it's a battle over art. it's a unique statue. >> it's part of the seaport art walk. this cinderella is causing quite

>> reporter: we all know the story of cinderella the princess, but this sea gull sculpture that shares the same name is now the talk of the town in new bedford. >> i originally made it for a public art project in brooklyn. >> reporter: boston artist donna dodson, that created several lar sculptures, finished sea gull cinderella in 2012. after a few different stops, the colorful concept is now on display on the city's seaport art walk, but this work of art is >> i'm not surprised some people don't like it. everyone has a different opinion about art. art can be very personal. >> reporter: npetion was launched to try and get the sculpture remove leading the ch writing that it, quote, reflected poorly on our city. nearly 400 people signed the petition before it was closed not everyone agrees. a rival facebook page was set up in support of sea gull cinderella. people who enjoy the sculpture

the woeekend is about here. sunday more clouds and a few showers and not an all-day rain. it's nice to get an all day rain because of the drought. today we had a few showers around this morning, most towns, though, not much rain.

that's about 2 1/2 inches of rain below normal. this weather system was supposed to deliver the goods but took a right-hand turn at the last minute and grazed southern new england with steady rainfall. nantucket just under an inch of rain. there's a batch here that flared up in the afternoon heating across new hampshire and vermont. that drops south. that downpour is crossing the corridor, and that will move through worcester quarter and fizzle out find 90s on the map. that's good news. 70s and 80s but on this map 60s to around 70s. that's heavy, thick area and that's with us for this evening. mostly clear and patchy fog after midnight, 63 to 68. tomorrow we get into the bubble drier air in northern new york and new england. that's why tomorrow is the nicer of the two days. this weather system here, a lot of clouds and a few scattered

think of this front as a highway and the area of low pressure as a car traveling along the highway. here it comes into new england on sunday with mostly cloudy skies, and again it's not like a mid-wintersetup with low pressure with widespread precipitation. this time of year unless you have something out of tropics with a name on it, it's tough to get the widespread, significant rains across the northeast this time of year. it's scattered in nature, so that's what i think we contend with on sunday and monday. a chance of showers. tomorrow, a mix of clouds and sunshine. not a muggy tomorrow, and there will likely be an isolated shower or storm in worcester hills west. you notice western boston, north and shout shore beaches should be okay after early clous and fog peel out of there. high tide in the morning and low tide at 2:43 tomorrow afternoon. sunday, mostly cloudy skies but a scatters of showers. temperatures on sunday in the
