others all over new england. dan hausle was in the courtroom and joins you now live from lawrence with more of the details. >> anchor: well, police say these guys stole phones and cars. they used in the atm burglaries. they say the one thing they were caught actually buying were the tool they used to break in. prosecutors say david barker and another man are one-half of a sophisticated gang ofburg also who broke into atm's across new england stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars.pr stole put them at or near the scene of most of the crimes. the nights of break in these defendants are generally disciplined enough to turn off their cell phones and put them in airplane mode. in some cases the phones travel approximately partway, turn off during the course of the break in then turn on on the way hole. sometimes like if hanover they keep them on the whole time and the phone pings at the atm.

or what caused that crash. >> anchor: more news today. providence police are vetting a murder suicide involving a retired officer. investigators believe the former officer shot and kill his wife in his home on friday. authorities say he then drove to new jersey with his wife's body and then turned the begun on himself when officers spotted him on the highway. police say they became suspicious after the retired officer called his children saying he had done something bad to their mother. by the way, former officer osgood was talking that we were concerned with the safety for both his wife and himself. >> anchor: right now police are still looking for a motive behind that shooting. >> anchor: parts of southern california going up in flames. a lot of fires out there. this fire continues to burn 300 extra fire fighters have been sent into battle this raging wildfire. this is like we said monterey that charred about 40,000 acres since it break out more than a week ago.
