investigate more than 100 incidents of alleged racism and bias. passengers run for their lives as a plane crashes and explodes. new at 11:00, restaurant review rage. a local restaurant overrun with negative reviews as a worker posts about politics the us women's soccer team kicking off the olympics in night. first at 11:00, some breaking news to report from london. police investigating a possible terror attack. several people stabbed, one of them killed. tonight, we know an american is among the victims. >> let's get over to ryan. >>reporter: only evidence here, investigators believe this was a terror attack and moments ago, the bbc reporting a 19-year-old man is in custody after the stabbing rampage.

hurt and one of the injured appears to be an american. this all happening in central london, russell square. the incident comes hours after authorities announced london would increase its presence of armed police. tonight on 7, saving face. >>man: missed her by not even a couple inches. a driver narrowly avoids a piercing pole. lost control, slammed into two cars before slamming into a pole. >> it missed her by a couple of inches. >>reporter: well, this is the pole that we're talking about right here. it's the top of the fence. it pierced the windshield and went straight through the car. a metal pole slammed through a car windshield missing the driver by mere inches. >>man: thank god she's alive.

wife lost control of her car around the corner from their home. >>man: she collided with a couple of cars and the fence. it missed her by not even a couple inches. it grazed her elbow. >>reporter: the family was preparing a barbecue in the backyard when the crash happened. >>man: all the sudden, bang. it's like wow. >>reporter: their grandchildren were in the nearby pool and narrowly missed. >>woman: i heard them scream and i looked and said oh, my god. mom had gone food shopping and was heading home. when she was late, he went looking for her and came upon the scene. >>man: the first thing i saw was the pole through the car and i almost freaked out. that was kind of the thing that made everything inseed of me drop. i'm just happy that she's okay. >>reporter: somewhere along the way, a light pole was also hit, falling across the road. the driver's family said the fact that she made it through

getting up and going to see her at the hospital instead of worse. so for that we're fortunate. >>reporter: and the driver's family believes that their loved one suffered some kind of medical emergency. she's spending the night at the clinic for observation. new at 11:00, police responding to the scene of an accident in lowell where two pedestrians have been struck. e street. they were both taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries. no word on their conditions or the cause of the crash. turning to a school scandal at boston latin. looking at more than 100 potential cases of racism on campus. tim caputo is live tonight. >>reporter: yeah, adam, that new report shows more than 100 incidents of prereceived through probable racism here that

years. one of the most alarming part, in several incidents, nothing was done about it. students felt like school staff didn't do enough to stop racial issues at the elite school. report revealed today that teachers, administrators, and students of boston latin violated policy more than a dozen times and could've done more to address biassed based incidents. in june, the head master resigned amidst the controversy. the four month reports of alleged racist cases since 2012. a number of reported incidents shows there's an issue. >>man: doesn't matter if there's one serious one or series of incidents. there's a problem at boston latin school and now we need to do something about it. >>reporter: of the 100 plus reports, they found six cases where administrators failed to take appropriate action, four

follow policy and several cases where students didn't follow policy. the report said "the nature and extent of student and staff experiences, attitudes, and perceptions are comparable to other countries." >>man: that's not enough. excellence should mean intolerance to insensitivity and that's what we've been calling for. >>reporter: they also responded to the report saying "any in schools is unacceptable and that's why we've implemented a reporting system that will ensure that every student's voice is heard. i am confident that the new leadership at boston latin will ensure all students are in an environment where they feel safe to learn." the school district says some of the staff involved will be disciplined. others will have to do additional training. district wide, they want to have a more deeper discussion about

and upton police make a disturbing discovery inside a home after neighbors complain about a horrible smell. officers still inside finding cats and filth. the night team's brandon live for us in upton. >>reporter: according to police and neighbors, there was a similar situation at this house five years ago but now they say the conditions inside this house are so disgusting the home is actually being condemned. meanwhile, there are still cats crews with protective suits spnt hours trying to remove the cats from home. neighbors say the smell is too much to handle. >>man: just recently, the past year or two, especially this summer, the stink has been getting real bad. >>reporter: after neighbors complained of the smell in upton, the board of health visited the house. two dead cats were removed. they're at the animal shelter.

cats because they were hiding but still say a dozen more are still in the home. >>man: i don't get it that bad except when it rains because it's stagnant and goes all over the yard. >>reporter: the two sisters who live in the house were taken away in an ambulance for precautionary incidents. neighbors say this isn't the first time. >>man: we went down and presented our problems and what we had. they came up here with the spca, like a week or >>reporter: we're told crews will come back on thursday to try to catch more of the cats which could take days. >>man: you see them in the windows, everything. >>reporter: now, the cats that are being taken to the shelter, they'll be up for adoption once their health is evaluated. no charges though against the two women living in the house. friends and family mourning

who died early this morning after his dirt bike collided with a police cruiser. officers responding to a 911 call in the area when the teen failed to stop at an intersection and crashed. a plane back on the ground and up in flames. >> passengers make a great escape from the intense somehow, all passengers on board that plane did make it out safely but a firefighter died while battling the blaze. >>reporter: investigators seem to be focussing on weather as a possible cause for that. we are seeing the dramatic images from inside that plane as passengers scrambled to get out. new video shows this bowing 777 sliding and smoke pouring into the sky.
