willis. behind me here, you can see all here to honor, remember, and mourn a playful, energetic and loving little boy. ? why should i feel... ? >> reporter: trying to console a fam relatives of kyzr willis dressed in white, saying painful good-byes. 7-year-old kyzr died tragically last week. police say it was an accidental drowning at curley community center day camp in south boston. police say he wandered away unnoticed at carson beach after a frantic search, his body was found in the water hours later. >> the lord does not take kyzr. the lord receives kyzr.

>> reporter: in response to the death, mayor marty walsh ordered new rules for the city's summer day camps. hourly checks of all campers. lie preservers for all kids swimming. more training for staff. at the funeral service, family members gave their reflections and thanked friends and strangers for their support. >> it is a tragedy that the situation happened, but what we have to remember through all of this, that kyzr, at the young age that he is, actually saving lives today. kyzr, i'm going to his your energy. everything that was special in so many ways to so many of us. i'm going to miss the pride i feel when people watched you in amazement because you were truly the coolest kid in the room. >> reporter: once again here, this is a look at the horse-drawn hearse that will carry little kyzr's casket

the church here at morning star baptist, as things... the funeral winds down here. bishop john borders reminded everyone of how this tragedy touched the entire city of boston. he said when kyzr was born, he said this to the parents of kyzr. when he was born, he was their son. when he died tragically last week, he became boston's son. that is the latest live in ap >> christa: all right, byron. thank you. an american killed overseas in london in a knife attack. that the hour, police are releasing new details about the suspect who is 19 years old. fast norwegian of so mali origin. >> sarah: they believe mental illness caused him to kill the woman and injure five other people. matt bradley has the latest. >> reporter: the u.s. embassy has confirmed that the woman killed here in russell square

additional information about that or her identity. we do know from scotland yard today that the attacker, the perpetrator was, indeed, a norwegian national of somali descent. he came to the u.k. from norway back in 2002 when he was four or five years old. that bit of information coming from the norwegian ministry of foreign affairs. there were five other victims. they were wounded. three have been released from the hospital. some other new information we are getting. we are talking to eyewitnesse which took place last night around 10:30. right here in the heart of central london. >> there was a body laying covered with a blanket. it seemed to be blood. more police arrived. at the time, the police were just... it was intense. really intense. >> there is a lot of anxiety running through london right now. report t u.s. embassy has not released any additional

that this may have had some sort of terrorism tie-. in just today, scotland yard said there is no indication that the perpetrator was radicalized in any way. they are saying there was no ideological motivation behind this attack. nbc news, london. >> christa: right now tracking earl this afternoon. it has now weakened to a tropical storm. after making land-fall in belize as a hurricane. the storm packing 80-mile-per-hour winds and heavy rain. belize, hdu for some areas. let's go to meteorologist bri eggers tracking the latest. >> bri: yet we could use some rain here for us. the drought conditions deepen here in massachusetts. then we are in for high and dry weather. staying quiet through the next couple of days. if you are enjoying these temperatures at noontime. already climbing into the 80's. mid to upper 8's for highs this afternoon. we get to keep the sunshine around. but as i said before, we could use the rain. unfortunately, it looks like our next chance to get any of those showers and storms

i know that is not the best for a weekend forecast. especially this weekend. pan mass challenge going on. a lot of things happening outside. it looks like scattered storms, the scattered storms as we work through saturday afternoon. we have to run through the timeline and talk about that in more detail in a few minutes. >> sarah: a close call in woburn. a pole crashed through the windshield of an s.u.v. it just missed the driver's head. to be alive. victoria warren is live in woburn. the driver's family is now talking about this ordeal. >> reporter: they are. because they are still in shock over this accident. you can see what's left of the accident scene. this is within walking distance of this woman's home. she lost control somehow. nearly impaled by the fence that used to stand here. she is still in the hospital. today her entire family is thankful she is alive. a metal pole slams through a car windshield, hising the driver by mere inches.

thank god. >> reporter: stephen sawyer says his wife lost control of the car around the corner from her woburn home. >> she collided with a couple of cars and a fence. went through the windshield. it grazed her elbow. at the home where the crash happened, the family was outside. >> all of a sudden, bang. it is like, wow. >> grandchildren were in the pool which was narrowly missed. >> i heard them scream i said oh, my god. report tt driver's son says his mother was food-shopping and it was getting late. he went looking for her. >> i saw the pole through the car. i almost freaked out. that was kind of the thing that made everything inside me drop. i almost kind of freaked there. i'm just happy that my mother is okay. >> reporter: the driver's

made it through this crash is truly a miracle. >> to be honest, i don't know what happened. i don't think she is, you know, really... she is trying to figure it out herself. >> reporter: the cause of the crash itself is still under investigation. i did speak with her husband this morning. he says she remains in the hospital. her injuries from the crash, those are minor. she continues to undergo some testing. he says that he believes she may have suffered some type of medical emergency place. live this morning in woburn, victoria warren, 7 news. >> sarah: conflict in donald trump's campaign. the chairman admitted a rift between trump and his vice presidential candidate mike pence. pence allegedly endorsed paul ryan a day after trump declined to do so. trump's goal is to bridge the republican f party together, the chairman insists.

minor. but she continues to undergo testing to see if it was a medical emergency she suffered in the first place. in woburn, victoria warren, 7 news. >> christa: police in plaistow, new hampshire are looking for a suspect after a young girl has a frightening encounter with a stranger. a man waved to the nine-year-old girl, tried to get her to approach him. they say this happened after she got off the bus tuesday afternoon. she immediately ran away and reported what happened. >> sarah: police in walpole on the hunt for a robbery suspect. investigators say this man robbed a game-stop store on route one north late last night. they say he got away with a large amount of cash. >> christa: two people recovering after being hit by a car in lowell on branch street. both victims were taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries. at this point, no word on their specific conditions or what might have caused the crash. >> sarah: officials returning to this house in upton today.

neighbors tipped off police to disturbing discovery. jennifer eagan shows us what it took to get those animals to safety. >> reporter: the mspca back at this home in upton. >> we want to make sure the animals are safe and healthy. >> reporter: neighbors didn't want to speak on camera but tell us they had noticed a smell coming from the home along school street. >> just recently, the past year or two, especially this summer, the stink has been getting real bad. report tt board of health animal cruelty investigators were called. in nine cats were removed from the property yesterday. two cats were found dead. today, the mspca returned with have a heart traps, looking for several more. >> we definitely want to make sure that all the cats are out. at that point. you know, the town will do what they need to do. as far as the conditions of the home. investigators say there was a similar situation at this home five years ago. >> we worked with the owners.

they willingly signed the animals over as they did yesterday. when the case was closed out, a couple years back, the home was clean. any animal that was left behind was vaccinated and spayed and neutered. >> you see them in the windows. every time, the drapes, the shades are down to the bottom of the window sill. never open. the cats don't go out. report tt two women aren't facing charges at this time. the cats were taken to a shelter in boston. they will be up for adoption once they have been checked out. in upton, 7 news. >> christa: the games are under way in rio already. soccer kicking off yesterday. >> sarah: in the days to come, the venues there will fill up with spectators watching the athletes compete for the gold. nancy chen is in rio. and gives us a look at where the winning moments will be taking place. competition for the olympic games will be happening all

and rio is show-casing its best locations to really make it all shine. over the course of 19 days, more than 10,000 athletes are going for gold in rio de janeiro. hoping to be the world's best in 28 different sports. rio itself is hoping to shine as well. the first south american city to ever host an olympic games. and it is trying to make a splash, organizing its venues around its most iconic sites. there will be four competition clusters in the city itself. with the journey officially kicking off americana. its legendary soccer stadium will host the opening and closing everything is moanies, as well as the soccer finals. rugby will be to the north. and equestrian. and the famous co. pa cabana beach will have volleyball. and the home of the olympic park and olympic village where the athletes are staying.

gymnasts, tennis players and swimlers compete behind he here. the i quaddic stadium. they will all compete. you can see the water design on the building. it also has 15,000 tiny holes built in to keep fans and spectators cool. and it is home for us as well. we are inside the international broadcast center. this over here is our work space. inside the nbc news newsroom. one trait o is just how compact it is. these arenas will host judo, wrestling, fencing and basketball. they are supposed to represent the mountains of rio. this is where it all happens. the world coming together in a spectacular celebration of faster, higher and stronger. and those venues will all be opening up shortly. the olympic park isn't open to the public just yet. but the opening ceremony will bring everyone on in after friday.

amesbury making a surprise delivery on 95. they say a mother was trying an at-home birth on tuesday but had some complications and then had to call an ambulance. well, the baby would not wait. so paramedics pulled over on the highway. they delivered her. they say they made sure the baby girl was healthy and breathing and then continued their drive to the hospital. >> mom did a great job. she did all the hard work. we were there to help her out. i'm glad we could be part of it.
