the force of the explosion sent pieces of a home flying and its collapsed. four people including a child had to be pulled from the debris. one adults and two kids were outside the house which had collapsed. four others including one under

from inside what was left of the home, investigators say the child had significant injuries. what i can tell you is that at least four people, we confirmed were in the house when its collapsed. several of them were outside when responders arrived and they were injured and have been transportsed to the hospital. since i have been here rescue crews pulledded a young child from the home. >> reporter: you can see police digging through the debris and the explosion did not leave much serious condition. the cause is under investigation. in the newsroom, ryan schulteis. >> jadiann: some of boston's finest fighting for the city to protect police. the police union calling for better protective gear like helmets and vests. tim tim caputo is live at boston police headquarters. >> tim: that police union september a letter of demands to the mayor and police commissioner asking for more

firepower. tonight the boston police commissioner said the letter is self was offensive but he does understand their concerns. police officers were ambushed at murdered in dallas and baton rouge and many believe not enough is being done here. in a scathing letter to the commissioner william evans the police union said enough is enough and begged officers and equipment. we have requested long guns for the pal officers and we now demand it. a very new hostile environment that we live in and it is a requirement that to be able to quickly neutralize a threat we require long guns. the heed is necessary and now. commissioner evans thought the letter was offensive. >> it is what it is.
