>> anchor: a killer on the loose if princeton after a woman goes out for some exercise and is found dead. now police have a warning for that community. >> anchor: one more nice day tomorrow then we track beneficial rain by midweek. >> anchor: we'll take you live to rio where some local favorites shine brightly in competition. >> anchor: and the race for the white house heating up as both candidates outline to add jobs. >> anchor: we store at five o'clock with breaking news out of princeton. this is a woman who was out walking and jogging alone on a rural road. we're asking people in town to use an abundance of caution. >> anchor: a community on alert as the search for a missing woman comes to a tragic ending. police in princeton say the young woman was murdered when she went out for a walk near her mother's house. the victim was only visiting for

the loose, police are warning everyone to use extra care. we have a team of reporters working this story. dan hausle has reaction from people who live in her town but let's get started with steve cooper at the princeton police department to tell us we know at this moment. >> reporter: so much shock and sadness tonight from a community that is on edge. all this while police are now turning to the public for some help here as they scramble to locate a killer. shocking to of princeton shaken to the core over the mud of 27-year-old vanessa markot. her body located by a state police k-9 unit in the woods around 8:30 last my. sources say her body showed signs of being burned to her head, hands and feet. right now the family is going through an awful lot. i doesn't want to say too much beauty have a horrible set of facts, horrible set of circumstances here right now. from sky 7 hd you can see homicide detectives who spent the daying thering for evidence

it's horrible. i don't know the family but this stuff doesn't happen in princeton. >> reporter: the district attorney says marcon, from leominster, where she worked as an account manager was in town visiting her mother. the bu grad left around 1:00 sunday afternoon to go for a walk or a jog. she was reported missing three hours later and by last night her body had been located just a half mile from her mother's trying to figure out if this was random or marcot knew her kille. we cannot tell whether or not it was a random act at this point so we're asking residents in princeton to be vigilant. >> reporter: with that warning >> we're in and out of our lp house all day, you know, doors are unlocked often. not any more.

vanessa ways much loved member of the google teamworking in our new york office for the last year and a half and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of boston sports. we are deeply shocked and saddened and our thoughts are with her family and friends. we do know that an autopsy was conducted on her body this afternoon. the results of that not being made public right now. all we're being told by the district attorney is they said they are hoping for a break in the case. they are asking some help here and at the same time we now know that princeton police have added extra patrols out here in the community and it will be that way until an arrest is made. live in princeton tonight, steve cooper, 7 news. >> anchor: well, touching on what steve just said people in princeton are afraid. it's just a crime that is shocking this small community. dan hausle joins us live now with their reaction. >> reporter: well, whether you

likely to find yourself here at the mountain side smart and when you are inside you usually talk about weather or sports but now the tragic murder has changed all of that. it's all anyone can talk about here at the mountain side market the tragic murder that has shaken this sleepy little town. it's a rural town. your first reaction is, what's going on? it's not very comfortable. this doesn't happen around here. >> reporter: many people jog or hike in the area, like amy or her daughter. the mother now checking her watch and worrying when her daughter is not back on time. i get a little panicky just because, you know, she is my kid. i think it's terrifying. i'm eterrified to be running or hiking alone around here. i just accident know who would come to princeton with that in mind. >> reporter: police checked a security video and asked employees if they noticed

this was the running route that she was on yesterday. we wish we had more information because we love to help out in the investigation. >> reporter: locals also can't help but wonder about the killer or killers. i haven't looked at people differently but you certainly wonder, protect yourself. >> reporter: people are glad there will be extra police patrols but until investigators can come up with some solid answers, they will be very scared around here. live in princeton, news. >> anchor: and we are following more breaking news. a massachusetts state police cruiser recovered after someone stole it from a maintenance facility this morning. in fact, whoever took it dumped it in somerville a short time later. >> anchor: so right now investigators are trying to find the person who took it in the first place. nick emmons live in southie with the latest for us today. nick? a bit of a mystery on how something like this could have happened just for perspective i want to show you what kind of state patrol vehicle this was.

the one you see her at the barracks in south boston. so this cruiser apparently was stolen from the massachusetts department of transportation maintenance facility on d street in south boston. it happened this morning. the cruiser was in the service yard for engine problems and it was taken again by someone this morning and once state police figured this out they deactivated the cruiser's radio system and an important reminder is once they realized that it was taken, they shut all of wanted people to know that there were no guns on board, no weapons on board this car because they said that this cruiser, which is marriaged, is not assigned it a specific trooper. it's a replacement vehicle in case a trooper has to get a loaner so to speak. so again, no weapons were on board this car, no damage was done to the suv. the big question now is figuring out how a state police trooper vehicle can be taken from a mass

facility. there are surveillance cameras on site. this investigation is ongoing. that's the latest live in south boston, i'm nick emons, 7 news. >> anchor: also today sky 7 hd over a fire the a home in peabody we're told neighbors helped get a woman in herself entries out of that home safely. no word yet on what started the fire. >> anchor: in roxbury a car burst into flames. sky 7 hd above the corner of columbus avenue and washington street. you can see fire fighters thereafter they put out the flames not much left of the front of the car at least. whether anyone was injured. >> anchor: let's take a little time out here. live look as we head into the olympic zone. this is rio. another day of the games is well under way. some big names in fact have already competed team u.s.a. goes for more gold and in fact our team is leading in the medal count now . >> anchor: there are some big moments from last night that a lot of people are still talking about today including aly

>> reporter: more sunshine for tomorrow, low humidity. tomorrow is a great day the middle of the week, wednesday, a scattering of showers and storms, some beneficial rain i might add and that eventually leads to oppressive humidity for the end of the week. we add heat to the mix as well. 70's and 80's at this time. the city at 78, bedford 86 but here are the numbers. the dew point temperatures, this is crazy low. these numbers are down in the 40's in ought of are you kidding me in this will change though by wednesday, thursday and friday. these numbers jump into the 60's to around 0. we'll feel very uncomfortable across southern new england for

with partly to mostly sunny skies, high pressure is with us again tomorrow and then this weather system which is a little bit sleepy right now, it's not generating much in the way of rain, it is in the virginias but this slides away. this weather system starts to flex its muscle then waiver and meander into southern new england by the middle of week. increasing humid at the and increasing some chance of beneficial rain. for tonight mostly clear, comfortable, 55 to 65. through the datomorrow partly to humidity once again tomorrow. that will be it though for a while. so enjoy it if you can. temperature tomorrow 82 to 87. boston tomorrow afternoon 83. lakeville 83 not of town low 80's at the sea coast. middle and upper 80's back through the merrimac valley into the worcester hills, fitchburg 87. jaffrey at 85 and out on to the cape and islands a great beach day. chatham at 77. the beaches tomorrow again water temperatures 60's and 70's, low humidity. temperatures tomorrow 79 to 84.

lay. red sox back home taking on yankees first pitch at 7:10 will be warm but no humidity. temperatures tomorrow evening in the low 80's. and then wednesday mostly cloudy skies, here comes that weather system from the ohio river valley with clouds and a scattering of showers and storms. temperatures on wednesday near 80 degrees so here you go. wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. a lot of clouds and eventually i think we will see a scattering of some showers and thunderstorms. going to be along south of the mass pike but even north of town i do think we'll see at left a few scattered showers and storm. in terms of any rain out of these weather systems, showers and storms, again, in some of the downpours you may get upwards of a half to as much as 3/4 of an inch of rain but most of us at left a quarter to a third of an inch of rain. that's not it. by the end of the week into the weekend we'll hold on to the chance of some beneficial rain. of course the down side could be thunderstorms as well. hot and human. look at those temperatures

sister priscilla fondly remembers her former student as she proudly shows us the lowell native's old yearbook where you can see a smiling then eighth grader of a young man who would grow up to a well like and respected college baseball star. he was fun loving, he was very, very outgoing boy, friendly kind of guy, guy you would like to have as a friend. >> reporter: the sister said she was in shock to learn her former student that relowed to california with his family spot in san francisco the now 20-year-old college pitcher gunned down while playing pokemon go with a friend of the investigators mystified by murder saying reilly was shot in the chest saturday evening. that shootings here are unusual. back in lowell, she says her community is praying for calvin and his family. you expect students to grow old gracefully. you don't like to hear that they have been shot violently. you can't love somebody that
