we're following breaking news out of waltham. police are investigating a double stabbing at a home on weston street. officials say a too-year-old woman was stabbed several times. and an 83-year-old had a wound on her hand. both victims were rushed to the hospital, a suspect is in custody. the d.a.'s office says this was not random, the suspect and the victims, they say know each other. >> breaking news out of new york city. take a look at this. a man trump tower there, fifth avenue, with suction cups as he continues to scale that building. police are responding. you can see some of the holes they've put in the windows there as they try to make contact with him, try to get him to come back in. he is climbing up with suction cups. we'll keep an eye on that for you also. here on 7, a night of

turn. an argument quickly everythinglating into a fatal fight and right now a man is facing assault charges. >> police are piecing together exactly what went wrong there. 7's dan hausle is live with the latest on this alarming crime. >> it's a tragedy on this street, the suspect's house is back there, the yellow one you see on the left and the victim's house is right next to it. they were partying and the night took a deadly turn. >> reporter: thomas maxwell aggravated assault after police say a fight left his friend and neighbor dead. police sale 32-year-old don o'malley wasn't moving when they found him outside maxwell's home tuesday night and later pronounced dead at the hospital. the men's mothers live next door to each other and friends say the men were socializing when they got into a fight over a beer. >> donald started pushing back at tom, and tom finally sat him down and said, you know, i'm not

>> reporter: police arrested maxwell on the assault charge but in court the prosecutor says that may be just the beginning, depending on what the medical examiner finds as the exact cause of death. >> there is as autopsy pending. >> reporter: maxwell's sister and father had nothing to say. friends said he had medical problems including heart and kidney issues and say o'malley's representatives don't want >> when everything comes to court, the family is going to be going and asking them not to press charges. >> he didn't do anything wrong. it was just an unfortunate accident, that's all it was. >> friends of victims and suspect agree this was some sort of unfortunate incident, police, prosecutors and the court take a different view.

held on $50,000 cash bail. dan hausle, 7news. an officer is taken to the hospital hurt during a wild case in rehoboth. he flipped had his car off the road just after 3:00 this morning. the man got out and ran. one officer getting a head injury while running after him. police have arrested the suspect. police say a man driving a subbrew was pulling out of the parking lot when he truck. he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. police issued him a warning for failure to yield. firefighters make a quick save after a little boy gets his arm stuck inside a pool table. the little boy's nanny came running to the desk attendant and asked for help. the boy was apparently reaching for something inside the table when he got stuck. the attendant called 911. >> they disassembled the whole

he was smiling for the majority of it actually. i believe he was 5 and he did pretty well. >> witnesses say the little boy is doing just fine. >> a florida community shaken when an accident kills a have during a police academy exercise. police say an officer shot the woman by a mistake during a shoot or don't shoot demonstration in front of dozens of people. no one else was hurt. the department calling the shooting a horrible accident. the officer who shot the woman >> we are mourning and missing mary as she was a vital member of our community. we have complete faith in our chief of police to ensure that this outside investigation is conducted thoroughly. >> the state department of law enforcement is now investigating. a public plea from a father in new york city is asking for help after his 30-year-old daughter was killed while out for a run.

i just gripped the sides harder. >> we didn't think much of it. >> we told the people at the bottom like get you out of your thing, we told them, and they didn't really say anything. >> so the slide is now closed for the rest of the season. police say mechanical failure is to blame the accident that dumped three children from a ferris wheel at a tennessee county fair. investigators say the failure sent the basket over dumping the girl's nearly 45 feet to the ground. a 6-year-old girl suffered a traumatic brain injury in that accident. a daring rescue caught on camera. a southern california woman was stuck inside of her burning home yesterday. firefighters quickly arrived and were able to saw the bars often only window she could get out. they were then able to use a chair to pull the woman to safety and she was not seriously hurt. >> a man in spain going the distance to catch his flight, bypassing security and running

athletes are up to. >> and not just aly raisman making headlines, 7's sports director joe amorosino takes a closer look at how they're doing so far in rio. >> jadiann and ryan, there were plenty of local stars out there competing today. we'll start with ellie dirschwitz. she was upset in the first round of the individual fencing. he is now out of medal contention. strong winds making it interesting today as our local olympians set sail for team usa. dave hughes who was from maine competed in the men's 470. two top 10 scores from those preliminary races have them sitting in seventh place. the daughter of former rhode island governor lincoln chafee making her olympic debut in rio with her partner today, louise chafee and bore are in 11th place after their first two races. joe amorosino, 7news. thanks so much, joe.

well, today is national more is' day and to celebrate the girl scouts announcing a new more is' cookie offering two versions. one will be a graham cracker sandwich cookie with chocolate and marshmallow filling and the other a cookie dipped in cream icing and it'll all be available next year. >> tracking showers and downpours. this is a good thing. using the radar tonight, we haven't done that very much this summer but we will take the showers and the downpours, this right here jumping off of cape ann and there are more showers and downpours. and even a few rumbles of thunder possible. this is lined up all the way back out south and that's the connecticut river valley. we'll have the on and off

start to go up. tomorrow because it will be so hot and humid, there is about a 10% chance of a shower or storm, much the same on friday, but a slightly higher chance late saturday afternoon and into sunday. tomorrow, hazy, hot, humid. temps in the lower 90s. but when you factor in that humidity, it'll feel like the middle and upper 90s. the airport temps tomorrows friday the risk of an isolated temps on friday into the low 90s. into the weekend we go, saturday, i this i that's a decent beach day. chance of showers and storms but not until the middle to the end of the afternoon. temps on saturday will be hot, though, mid-90s. and on sunday, a lot of clouds, a few showers and downpour pos. temperatures reaching 90 and falling back into the 70s by sunday evening. see you at 6:00. an up next, a diverse athlete looking for another gold. what kayla harrison is doing to make sure she is rio ready.

let's go back into the olympic zone, 2012 olympic gold medalist kara harrison is the first american to win a gold medal in juno. >> here's more on tonight's hometown heroes. >> kayla harrison made history at london olympics when gold. four years later she's back and ready to defend her title. >> reporter: it was a golden moment for kayla harrison. >> it's surreal, to this day it's still surreal. >> reporter: an historic win for her country. >> kayla harrison just won the gold medal! >> reporter: at the 2012 olympic games the 26-year-old became the first american to win gold in judo. >> it happened, and i was like, wow, okay, so this is what this is like. >> reporter: it was a win that

the sport in the united states but on the new olympic champion. >> you dream your whole life and plan your career for that one day and then you win but you didn't prepare for what happened after you won. because you can't. >> reporter: four years later, kayla, who lives in danvers, is ready to add to her collection. but her road to rio wasn't easy. after london kayla discovered she had been fighting with a dislocated knee, an injury that required major surgery. >> he had to break my tibia and realign my patella tendon. >> reporter: but k down. >> when you reach your dreams, you sort of lose that passion and that fire for a bit, so having a reconstructed knee and having something to fight back against gave me that fire back. building herself back up with kevins in wakefield. >> they've both been so instrumental not just in my career but in my life. >> reporter: while kayla has accomplished a lot on the mat, she says she's most proud of what she's accomplished off it.
