7 news at 7:00 starts now. all right, a wet saturday for some, a few storms and showers popping up on the radar as you can see there. the good news, though, we are seeing some cooler temperatures. >> that's right, we have your first check of the forecast. >> very picky and choosy where the storms end up and where they dump the rain and we've had a hot spot here but those showers as they've been tracking to the east, they just fall apart before they even cross 495. nevertheless to the west of 495, we've seen some spots with a whole lot of rainfall, one to 1 ? inches, even up to two inches in some isolated locations. so we do have a flood advisory in effect for douglas and franklin and that will be in effect through 7:30. some ponding on the roads, things you want to watch out for

rio debut this morning. bolt chasing history as he looks to become the first man to win three consecutive olympic 100-meter gold medals, coasting across the finish line in this heat, he will race again in the semifinals and most likely the finals, that will be tomorrow night. and winning bronze in the women's team saber event. the u.s. beat italy 45-30 to take third place. this is the first women's medal in rio. she's the first olympian to wear a hijab during competition. and the tennis player looking more like himself in the semifinal against japan's fourth seeded player after a tight quarterfinal match. murray will compete against juan martin, and a big day for rower stone. she officially announced her

her first olympic medal. stone earned silver coming in just over a second behind the reigning world champion from australia. it's the first women's medal in the event since 2008. stone tells me she plans to apply for residency. meantime, another young woman from massachusetts who is doing some celebrating here in rio, heading home with some medals, allie all-around and also, a team gold. i had a chance to talk with allie and the rest of the final five about their time here in rio. >> reporter: it's the traditional way of making it in sports, being on the cover of a cereal box, an honor for only the most elite athletes, a group that includes the final five but at the end of the day they're also great friends who love to laugh. >> we're having so much fun. >> reporter: they tell me that's what surprised them the most about the games.

you're not going to enjoy it but we're having the time of our lives, it's been like such an incredible experience with each other. >> reporter: but being role models is something they don't take lightly. >> you know so many little girls look up to us, and it's so special to be able to be here at the olympics with all of these amazing girls and we got the job done and we got our gold so i think there's going to be a lot of little girls, coming up to us, wanting pictures and autographs but it will be really fun when we get back home. >> reporter: they've seen their endless hours of hard work pay ever been more prepared in our lives. >> reporter: and they're enjoying their time in rio. allie is heading home with some mementos. >> she loves her pins. she's got 50 or 60. >> where are your pins? >> it's a secret. >> they're hidden somewhere special. >> this is more valuable than your medals? >> huh-uh! gold in the men's 4x100-meter relay. volleyball takes on austria and on the track, the women's 100-meter sprint final along with heats of the men's 100-meter featuring usain bolt. police searching for the person who robbed a new hampshire bank at gunpoint. this alarming crime happened at citizens bank at 9:00 this morning. 7's keli o'hara is live in windhawi >> the sign says it all, closed for the day, that's because first thing this morning, an hour after opening, a man walked in with a gun in his hand, demanding cash and police need your help. >> you wouldn't expect that. >> it's kind of a quiet place. >> crazy to think this got robbed. absolutely crazy. >> reporter: customers reacting to the news that their citizens bank was robbed first thing saturday morning by a masked man who walked right through this door and pointed a gun at the teller.

i used to be scared of that. it does happen. >> i would be freaked out if i was here at that time. i don't know what i would do, just give them whatever he wants and move on. >> reporter: new hampshire police releasing this photo and they want you to take a close look. you can see the robber wearing a green hat with a black scarf around his face, a white t-shirt with a large logo of a skull with wings. detectives say after this man made off with the cash from the bank he took off down the highway in a black car with a people we met shocked that something like this would happen around here. >> pretty surprised. >> unbelievable. not something i would think would happen in this area. >> and again, anyone with any information about this, call police asap. keli o'hara, 7news. tips continue to pour in as police in princeton try to find this woman's killer. she was found dead on sunday.

public to help in the search for answers. 7's brandon gunnoe is live in princeton with the latest on the investigation. brandon? >> well, six days later and detectives and state police were back out here in princeton today for a few hours investigating. they say they've received close to 600 tips and they continue to investigate every one of those leads. the 27-year-old was visiting her mother in princeton last sunday when she went for a jog and never came back. police discovered brutally murdered in the woods only a half-mile away. her killer is still on the run and authorities again are asking for everyone's help. at least three dozen detectives were on the case. what we know so far, the d.a. has said she was killed by a man and that she put up a fight so her killer would have cuts, scrapes and bruises. police are asking the public if you know anyone with new injuries, such as that to contact them immediately. also, if anyone noticed a car

that they didn't recognize, to give them a call, as well. so again they say they received about 590 calls to the state police tip line but they are asking everyone if you remember anything, no matter how small to give them a call, that state police tip line is on our website at www.whdh.com, as well. we're live in princeton, brandon gunnoe, 7news. three boats on an apparent crashou the regency drifted into two boats as it returned. we're live in boston to explain what caused this. >> according to the coast guard, the regency had a mechanical failure, causing it to drift into those other two boats, rookie and aurora. if you take a look at behind me you can see that rookie is still here. and we've also just learned that the engine of another boat was also damaged in the crash. the coast guard says this has

7news also learned that the boats rookie and aurora did in fact, have passengers on board. as did the regency. the regency was damaged above the waterline, including some windows and cod-zilla will need to be repaired before it returns to the water. there's no pollution in the water. that's the latest in boston, 7news. we are following some breaking news, the leader of a new york city mosque and an associate ve in a daylight attack. they were shot in the back of the head as they left the mosque in queens at around 2:00 this afternoon. this mosque serves a community of bangladeshi immigrants. police saying no motive has been determined. the race for the white house traveling through new hampshire. democratic v.p. pick tim kaine campaigning in virginia today. he spoke at a rally in manchester, emphasizing the differences between hillary

we are pleased to announce that the signals of wlvi have been reinstated to the direct tv lineup. we apologize for any inconvenience. onto the weather, getting a break from the heat today. a live look over downtown boston. it's a little cloudy but it was definitely cool today. it was nice. what can we expect through the rest of the weekend? >> nice relief, right? a lot of us enjoying that today but hot and humid once again for us tomorrow with yes another chance for an isolated afternoon to evening storm tomorrow, as well. with that main threat being

this evening. we'll get to that in a second but look at these temperatures, highs today 82 in boston, it actually happened after midnight last night so we've been stuck in the 70s through much of the day, 69 degrees right now in the city of boston. it reached 90 in orange. you can see where that back door front kind of made its way in, close enough to -- a 20-degree difference from 20 hours ago and look at where those dew points are back in the 60s. still a littleug still in providence, new bedford with those dew points in the mid- to upper 70s. boy, that's tropical. let's talk about where areas are seeing some rainfall right now. good downpour working through athal right now. and you can see that tracking to the east and we do have some flooding issues as you get off into southern new hampshire, specifically in king where that flash flood warning is in effect

through the evening hours. storms not moving very quickly and so they're able to dump a whole lot of rain within a short amount of time. now, we did have a hot spot here earlier this evening and that was able to drop a lot of rain. again, these storms are very picky and choosy where they end up but an inch to two inches of rainfall in some of these places, an aerial flood advisory still in effect for the next ten, 15 minutes until 7:30 through franklin for some when you have drought conditions, you can't get the rain to absorb into the ground as quickly so most of it runs off. as for storms tonight boy, a lot of action as you get off into new york state and central new england. we're going to keep that action in that area. there is a severe thunderstorm watch that's in effect through 1:00 a.m. for all of these places that you can see here in pink but that only includes berkshire county so western mass, better chance to see the

for tomorrow, though, we're worried about the heat once again. heat advisory that's in effect for inside of 495, it might be hard to believe when you look at our current temperatures. 69 in boston but we'll see those temperatures climb overnight. and the dew points will be creeping up as well so heat indices tomorrow, it will feel like triple digits once again for us where highs top out in the mid- to upper 90s. it's hot again on monday but i think dew points a little bit lower, so it won't be as oppressive with the humidity on monday. and then we cool back down into the 80s for midweek and looking out for scattered storms once again through tuesday and wednesday. and now, time for 7 sports with trey daerr! >> couldn't swing a deal for a franchise changing player but in the eyes of isaiah thomas, the summer is just fine and the point guard is a happy camper. thomas hooping it up with opponents a little bit closer to
