past with similar assaults. officers held a news conference. you were there, tim, bring us up to speed. >> reporter: police say a short time ago they knew who this is was for quite some time. they visited at least 15 or 16 homes in the south end of dorchester. found him and arrested him late this afternoon. a convicted rapist is under arrest again for another sexual assault he allege months after being released from prison. >> he was on a gps bracelet. from all the information we have he cut that bracelet off. >> reporter: boston police arrested eduardo rodriguez this afternoon. he's charged with sexually assaulting a woman on the south end. rodriguez was on this bike when he approached the victim on monday. rodriguez allegedly told the victim he had a knife and walked

people in this normally quiet area are troubled by the crime. >> that's terrifying, yeah. that makes me think twice about coming here alone. >> reporter: and officers tell us it's unclear if he had a knife. police say rodriguez's gps bracelet put him at the scene of the crime. >> we were working looking for this individual for the last 16 hours. we're happy we have him in who obviously committed a really atrocious act on a young female in the city. >> reporter: and the details of that 2007 rape case similar to what happened days ago. back then rodriguez found a high school senior walking alone on the street. he said he had a knife. he brought her tom a secluded area and raped her there. he served 8 years in prison for that crime.

>> anchor: following more breaking news at 7. a pilot making an emergency landing. that plane touching down safely. now kind of stuck. mass state police say the pilot was able to land on the northern part of the reservoir. officials say the pilot reported engine problems before landing. they stressed the plane did not crash. nc where a tree limb came crashing down hitting a man walking off common wealth avenue. kimberly bookman live with details for us today. kimberly. >> reporter: adam, just in the last hour police have opened up the scene. you see over my shoulder on the ground right there is the tree limb. 30 inches in length 10 inches in

belmont landscaping and tree service of trimming trees behind a brookline apartment complex. the victim is a 29 year old val a from herb chambers. the victim had come by to grab a sandwich. was walking down in the parking lot where the tree cutter was. this is video of the machine. the victim was hit by a fallen branch and taken in seriou those at the convenience store he was in say the situation is grave. >> i feel sad. someone who you see every day. thing happened to him like that is really sad. >> reporter: did he say what the condition of his friend is? >> he said it was really bad. really bad. he's not in good shape. >> reporter: we understand that that victim did have surgery. we are waiting for updates.

the details landing him in court. brandon gunnoe has more on the arraignment that happened. >> reporter: adam investigators say at least one of those sexual assaults are happened at the church behind me in june. the pastor has resigned. the details in court we can't say on television. he's facing several charges accused of forcing himself on a 13 year old girl. prosecutors say steven jes mera local church a 13 year old girl. >> shocking. i see him every morning when i take my kids to school. >> reporter: one assault took place at the jes mer's office. and there was sexual contact before that in june at the girl's house. the pastor's neighbor didn't want to go on camera and upset to hear about the allegation. >> he was a nice guy. until you see they do something like that.
