pilot is safe and on shore. john cocoa live at the scene what do you know? >> reporter: we spoke with him. that helicopt ser still out here in the water. the ashland fire department say they got a call about the ultra light helicopter going down around 4:30 in ashland state park. we're told he lost an engine on the air craft. that caused it to crash. the fire department says he's very luck helicopter is. it will be up to the state and police to get it out. it is in deep water. live in ashland john cocoa 7 news. >> anchor: and also following breaking news in boston. the district attorney attorney says the shooting of a man with ties to terrorism was justified. a boston police officer and fbi agent shot and killedrahim last

cvs. >> anchor: the suffolk county district attorney's office released details of the investigation. tim caputo with the breaking details. tim. >> reporter: initially there were a lot of questions from people why 5 police officers armed with hand guns would need to open fire with a man with a knife in his hand. they feared for their safety and the safety of others. after an extensive investigation the suffolk county district attorney said law enforcement officers were justified. >> mr. rahim continued to advance the officers. responded by saying you drop yours. why don't you shoot him. >> reporter: agents tapped his phone and said he was going to new york to kill someone. >> mr. rahim abandoned the plan to travel to new york city and

officers here in boston. >> reporter: rahim was carrying a 13 inch knife that morning. and police approached him in a parking lot. >> an eyewitness described this approach as casual rather than confrontational. >> reporter: rahim kept advancing. rahim's family has been briefed about the investigation. the attorney believes police overstepped their authority. bo in sharp contrast to what law enforcement reported directly after the shooting claiming that they approached usama with the intent to threaten him. >> there is no question that the members of the joint terrorism task force had probable cause to arrest mr. rahim. they did not require a warrant to do so. >> reporter: the attornies

in the prior rape. >> this defendant approaches her indicates to her that he has a knife, that he will stab her, walks her to a secluded area and rapes her. >> reporter: hold rodriguez on a half million dollars bail. hearing that he's an alleged repeat offender is troubling. >> i don't know about the case to say did he come out rehabilitated. it's a situation that we don't want to see happen anywhere. >> reporter: and poce this case the suspect actually cut his gps bracelet off. all of the information they gathered leading up to the rape and during the rape helped them nab this guy. kimberly bookman 7 news. >> anchor: police in salem are looking for the people in this video scene setting off explosives. the video shows a crowd of people gathered before they start running away. the boom was heard up to a mile
