we'll bring it state to you here on. news, police in arlington have charged a baby sit err with reckless endangerment. police say they found the 51-year-old medford woman wondering around drunk and high watching a 3-year-old little boy. the boy's mother says she hired the baby sitter using care.com. the child was not hurt. more on those stories coming up on news at 6:00. >> ryan: an alarming attack at a billerica armed with an ice pack stabbed a worker then took off. >> reporter: we spoke to the attorney for this woman. he says his client went on the attack after finding out that her daughter died of a heroin overdose then she took matters into her own hands. 57-year-old barbara tucker tried to cover her face with her shirt in court thursday afternoon. she is accused of attacking

police say the man was stabbed in the back while other people were in restaurant. no one else was hurt. the attorney says his client was overcome with anger after finding her daughter dead on the floor from a haren heroin overdose. >> she went looking for the person she thought might have supplied the heroin to her daughter. say the victim had a relationship with tucker's daughter but didn't have anything to do with the heroin. the victim said he didn't want to press charges and simply asked to go back to work. >> he didn't go to the hospital. no ambulance was called. he didn't seek a restraining order so basically i think he felt probably just as bad as the mother did. >> reporter: tucker was arrest and thissed with attempt -- with attempted murder.

driving a van in town tuesday morning he was trying to help, not hurt her. >> it appeared show was perspiring, looked like she could use a drink. this individual dropped. he provided or offered a water. >> reporter: the encounter spooked the woman. she called police. >> if something like this happens i would rather have you report it and let us look into it. the public safety comes first. she did the right thing. >> reporter: the woman's reaction is indicative in part of the unease in the princeton advantages mark cott was murdered out for an afternoon jog on august 7. investigators have received several hundred tips but haven't mate an arrest. police in shirley glad they were' able to resolve their case within two days. >> it was a good samaritan stopping because he thought this woman could use a bottle of water. it was a hot day. i'm happy nor that because there is still good people in the world. >> reporter: the jogger was able to give them a

the man down. he is a 71-year-old veteran who transports disabled patients to medical appointments. that is what he was doing when he stopped to offer the jogger water. when they spoke to him he was surprised this caused the air left arm that it did. >> jadiann: the landlord of a home zeit cited after the home went up in flames. when firefighters got to the scene yesterday at the two-family they discovered it was an illegal rooming house. authorities say the landlord was monthly or weekly. inspectors say there were several violations including outdated smoke detentors, they say a sprinkler system and more exits are needed. >> every single bedroom had a dead bolt on it. all the roughly 10 rooms. >> jadiann: landlord has 30 days to make those changes. or he will face criminal charges for fines. >> ryan: crosswalk vandals

>> reporter: tracking a few showers and downpours leading to pleasant weather tomorrow as well as saturday. we will watch hurricane hermine because it is looking likely that at least some rain and some wind for southern new england, more so south opposed to north of the mass pike. right now, short-term we're focusing on a cool front about to deliver the goods in refreshing air.

70s to around 80. there you go. saturday much the same. lots of sunshine. see more clouds saturday afternoon. high then clouds which may turn the sky a milky sunshine then high overcast by saturday evening with temperatures on saturday mid 70s, here is the area of high pressure. as we advance our timeline it doesn't move much. hurricane hermine is going to couple the eastern seaboard f. it wasn't for the high the hurricane or tropical storm would have england but that high is not moving so it's going to norse this weather system, whatever is left of hermine south of new england. i do think that hermine will be able to throw some moisture, some tropical rain activity up into southern new england as well as some wind. although it does not look like a direct impact so i'm not advertising very strong winds or copious amounts of rain but i do think some rain and some wind possibility sunday evening

hurricane hermine swirling in the gulf of mexico. it's gaining steam as it prepares to make land fall tonight. the latest projections show some of us in new england will have to deal with it for the holiday weekend. >> ryan: let's get over to chief meteorologist jeremy reiner, what is the latest? >> reporter: she was' upgraded to a category 1 storm with winds at 75 miles an hour, doppler radar out of florida showing well defined eye right there. the certainty of circulation where we find the strongest winds, also the feeder bands that feed into the storm system. in fact right here, this line here likely for this severe weather in the form of tropical tornadoes. the hurricane continues to move northeast expected to make land fall appear lash cola happens between 10:00 pm and midnight. the first lands falling hurricane in the states of florida since 2005.

storm. this is the latest forecast track from the hurricane center. still not much change. still very difficult forecast for us in new england, but you notice the redline does not come up into new england there so may be fringe effects from the storms but it doesn't look like a direct hit with the activity of the rain and the wind. as we show you these hurricane models, they're doing all their thing here but they have a general agreement that none of the lines, none of the computer models move the storm straight up into southern new england some rain and some wind from hermine late sunday night and into the day on monday with the greatest chance of that happening would be down along the south coast, cape and the islands and more so down to the middle atlantic states, especially the jersey shore where they have a tropical storm watch in effect already for hermine. >> kim: thank you. so families we know in south florida are boarding up their homes dealing with some flooded roads. brian joins us from south florida.
