flooding forcing evacuations with a powerful preview of what is to come. florida already dealing with flooded roads. a hurricane advisory posted moments ago. >> reporter: ryan, we hold the intensity at 80 miles per hour. a category 1 storm. we're probably about an hour away from land fall. the first land fall in hurricane in the state of florida since wilmain 2005. that is saint marks with the eye that yellow and orange we're seeing winds gusting over 65. perhaps as high as 85 miles per hour. off shore it shuts down. maybe 10 or 15 miles per hour. that is the eye of the hurricane there. this continues to move northeast at 14 miles per hour. here are the stats 80 miles per hour sustained winds moving north northeast at 14 miles per hour. this is a brand new track. no significant changes to that track.

new england. it will weaken to a tropical storm tomorrow through georgia and south carolina. then off the outer banks of north carolina saturday with 50 miles per hour winds. from there it's still a complicated forecast for southern new england. we're going to anticipate blocking high pressure not allowing hermine to come into southern new england. in fact even on these last few frames here it does begin to bend to the right tuesday it's a tropical storm at 60 miles per hour. with that said i think we're going to be on the fringe of hermine. there's likely to be some wind and rain at the tail of the holiday weekend. sunday night through understand. with the highest chance on the coast and the islands. >> anchor: and the satellite image just incredible. the storm coming ashore tonight. powerful winds heavy rains and

some are staying despite these dire warnings. night team's brian enton along the florida southern coastline with more. >> reporter: along the gulf coast they are waiting thursday night for the worst of hurricane hermine. >> mostly storm surge. a little bit of wind out of it. some gusts 50 miles an hour so far. >> reporter: the storm surge here expected to rise 5 to 8 >> there's a sea wall out there and a dock. normally my lawn mower and all that is under my house. >> reporter: this is tom's back yard. he's watched the water rise since the afternoon. getting generators ready to go in case power goes out. >> that's a smaller one. this is a bigger one. just to keep my refrigerator going. >> reporter: they're gassing up

>> we're here to put it back up. >> reporter: this is their driveway. look it's now covered in water. the waves are crashing right into their driveway. and you guessed it no one is home right now. they got out of here before the storm hit. >> we'll probably have roads flooded out trees down stuff like that. >> reporter: captains are tying boats up with extra some like tom are riding out. >> i've been through storms here before where i was very nervous. today i've been pretty settled. >> reporter: they are waiting incarabell for the eye to hit this area. over the last couple of minutes we have seen the water rise. you see these boats out here. this down here. this is actually the dock. it is now totally under water down here.

rise much further into the town. incarabell brian enton 7 news night team. >> anchor: we continue to track the path of hermine. you can track it's every move with interactive radar yourself on whdh.com and the 7 news phone and tablet apps. following breaking news at home 2 pilots hurt while flying near logan airport amaka ubaka. ep while they were flying by a green laser light. 2 of those incidents happened in and around logan airport. 2 pilots were also injured. it happened on an american airlines flight that was flying from charlotte to boston after 9 p.m. as a plane was approaching a run way and descending 2000 feet. a laser beam went through the

and a second incident another green laser was reported being seen on a delta flight 10 miles northeast of logan airport. state police have been notified about these incidents and the faa is also investigating. at this point we have no word on how those 2 pilots are doing tonight. we are going to continue to follow this breaking story and have more updates for you starting tomorrow at amaka ubaka 7 news night team. >> anchor: following breaking news in dumbarton new hampshire. police investigate a suspicious death. brandon. >> reporter: ryan, investigators have been tight lipped on this one. for several hours today and tonight detectives have been collecting evidence from this home. nobody has been allowed in or out of this driveway. sky 7 hd over house in dumbarton new hampshire. the attorney generals office

investigating a suspicious death at the home. family members are still being notified. a neighbor said police and crime investigators have been at the house all day. including a major crime scene command post vehicle escorted by a total of 6 state troopers. it's clear that this is a major investigation with several law enforcement agencies and the state attorney generals office involved. but again at this point will only say they're ve suspicious death. we're told investigators say they do not believe the public is in any danger. live brandon gunnoe 7 news night team. >> anchor: try to solve a deadly hit and run investigation. that tractor trailer hit and killed a 65-year-old woman as she was crossing main street today. the driver of this tractor trailer turned himself in. tim caputo is live in mill ford

>> reporter: that hit and run accident happened on this stretch of road behind me. that truck driver kept on going. he stopped to talk to police 35 miles away. a 65-year-old woman was killed while crossing the street in mill ford. police say the victim was struck then run over by an 18 wheeler on main street this afternoon. the driver didn't stop. the police sent out these surveillance camera photos >> a blue tractor trailer with red fenders. we figured it wouldn't be long. he turned himself in within an hour. >> reporter: the driver stopped at police baracks. then told them he was the driver everyone was looking for. police were trying to find out if he knew he hit someone. friends and families were devastated when they heard the news. >> my sons are at the house and

honor in their wedding 35 years ago this weekend. clement was in the national guard for decades and well known in mill ford. >> she loved everybody. she didn't care. she would help you no matter what happened. when people got to know her and she's got a lot of relatives in this area that really love her. >> reporter: at this point that truck driver has not been charged or even arrested. investigators have to from a crime scene or intentionally hit someone. >> anchor: police in arlington say they will found her drunk high and stumbling next to be the child she was supposed to be watching. kimberly bookman in live in arlington tonight. >> reporter: police say they searched the baby sitters car and found small containers of

>> reporter: malthue wolf thought something was off. >> the little boy about 20 feet behind her tailing along. she didn't look like she was paying attention to him. she didn't look like she was paying attention at all. >> reporter: another neighbor called 911 reporting a baby sitter stumbling down the street even trying to get into the wrong house. when officers arrived 51-year-old susan of medford drunk and high. >> i think it was a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs. >> reporter: police say the sitter had been taking care of the boy all morning. the child is okay. and was reunited with his mother. mom told the police she'd been using devrow since the spring off the website care.com. >> for whoever that may be we

he is tracking hurricane hermine and she is mean. >> reporter: the eye wall is a bit ragged. you see on the doppler radar out of tallahassee r. it looks like a cinnamon roll here. the yellow and the red we have the tropical down pours and tropical tornados where you find your strongest winds. that extends off the coast off of tampa. rough night for folks in the big bend r the eye wall which is the area that surrounds the eye itself that's where you find your most intense portion of the hurricane. you get into the eye itself and the wind and the rain shut down. this is moving north at 14 to 15 miles per hour. category one storm. when we look at the computer models we like to find consistency if we had lines going every which way it would

we wouldn't have confidence. these computer models are close to each other. that's building confidence that we do not anticipate this being a direct impact across southern new england. with that said these storms it's not just the fine line. the center of the storm is down here. but you have weather going on on either side of the storm system. the challenge is the blocking high pressure. that will still be there this weekend as will not a hurricane. the brunt of it is down here. north it's beginning to graze the cape and the islands. those locations have the greatest chance of feeling some effect from hermine. this is not going to be a power house storm like sandy was for us or irene was for us. this may take on the shape and form of an early fall

miles per hour. the other thing that works in our favor is that we're catching the high tide cycle of the month at a low point. we're not concerned about coastal flooding. minor flooding on nantucket as well as the coastline of rhode island. farther north rain showers and a breeze in metro boston along the south shore. the farther up north you may go the entire weekend and have a gentle that builds into new england tonight looks great tomorrow and saturday. if you start your holiday weekend early looks awesome. temperatures tomorrow and saturday in the 70s. cape and island rise pleasant tomorrow. sunday the threat of wind and shower activity as hermine makes a pass toward southern new england. not coming directly at us. for the lakes region up near that area of high pressure it
