i have to be honest, my daughter, courtney, who food styled this, i said i would really use about a pound but that's just me. you're going to saute this. you're going to render the fat out until it gets fairly crispy but not too crispy and then you're going to take that out and you'll take all of the bacon out and just leave the bacon fat in there. >> do you like cooking your bacon in cast iron or put in the oe it here because you have the fat. take sliced up onions, pepper, rosemary, oregano and saute this until it's translucent. not brown but on the translucent side. you'll cook that down and saute it until it cooks up nice. >> back up the bacon truck. >> we'll take a dozen eggs.

milk in there as well. >> what does that do? >> it puffs it up just a little bit. you'll let this set for just a tad and then once it sets a little bit, you're going to add your cheddar cheese. okay. and you're going to add your chives. your basil. just going to let that set in there. once it starts to set on that heat, you're going to take your cherry tomatoes and sprinkle those in. your lovely heirloom tomatoes. imagine bacon going in there. >> we got a little left. >> never okay not to have bacon. put it in there. >> you're going to put it in your oven at about 350 for around 15 to 20 minutes until it just starts to puff up. once it does -- >> beautiful.

if you want to get more -- if you love cheese as i do, you can take some extra cheese, sprinkle it on top and then put it under the broiler for just about two minutes and it browns up nice and you have this. you can do it in these lovely individual cast iron skillets so that everybody gets their own. and to continue the vegetable theme. we have a nice green salad. in dressing all we got is tomato, vinegar, and a little strawberries. olive oil. you can put balsamic in there. boom. we toss some lovely toasted almonds. >> i like it family style. everybody can scoop in. >> so simple. you can beat the eggs earlier and just leave them. it's fantastic. to get this recipe e-mailed to you, sign up for "today food"
