tropical cyclone. you can see that tail here, trop tropical storms tend to be more in shape. we're losing the clouds to the northeast of this storm's center. it's still packing a punch with the wind. 70 mile per hour sustained max winds at this point. and being loo looking at the most recent update, we're looking at su tuesday, wednesday, still dealing with the effects coming from hermine with a very -- wind field at this point. that blocking high pressure that's just slowing the storm to a crawl as it tries to move to the north and northeast. we have watches and warnings to be aware of for our area. a tropical storm watch for the south coast, cape, and islands. and also a tropical storm warning that's shaded in the red. that's really for the waters

through the next couple of days. the difference is the watch means that it's possible we could get tropical storm force winds, 39 miles per hour or stronger. but again, expected more south and east of boston. could just be breezy for us. we keep the temperatures cool and then hopefully getting showers out of this, though many of us could miss out on any wet weather as we head into monday. we'll talk more into hour-by-hour as we get into the extended forecast in just a few minutes. >> brie, thank you. hermine is ruining labor day plans for some people. if you have plans to cookout for grill, that may not happen. the storm is sending in big waves all along the eastern coast. people in maryland and new jersey are preparing to feel hermine's wrath. >>reporter: with its high

hermine is putting many on high alert, ruining labor day plans for people up and down the east coast. >>man: we would have stuck is it out. >>reporter: its path from florida to virginia, damaging homes, businesses, turning streets into rivers. it's also killed two people. a homeless man in florida hit by a tree and a truck driver in virginia. his >>woman: we planned for this all summer. we come to ocean city all the time this week. >>man: we know the storm path is going up the east coast. we thought better get out now and go to st. pete. >>reporter: residents are preparing for what's to come. hermine could become a hurricane again, now sitting in the atlantic florida's waters.

choosing to get out while they can. >> and people along the cape are also preparing for hermine. events in martha's vineyard have already been cancelled. kelly is continuing our team coverage. >>reporter: people are here at the docks, rushing to get in or off the islands. that's because everything is sold out tonight and ferry service to the vineyard is going to bece thing tomorrow morning. that's because the storm is churning up the coast. if you need to get to the vineyard, there are ferries available tonight. now, ferry service again, is cancelled for the next two days, also between the islands, too, that's because they don't want to take chances with the storm. people said they were lucky to jump on board. >>woman: we were going to leave

new york/connecticut border. the deputy attempted to pull the driver over, but he sped up and went off the road and hit a pole. the driver and three passengers died immediately from the impact. a distracted driver hits an mass dot worker this morning. the driver was reaching for glasses when he the worker. both the driver and worker had to be taken to the hospital with minor injuries. police are searching for a woman who ripped off an atm. that woman seen in these surveillance videos that you see here. investigators are asking for the public's help identifying her. police are looking for a man they say stabbed two people. the suspect brent young is wanted for alledgedly hurting a

something to pay attention to as we head through the next few days. let's talk about the winds, that's the main headline for hermine at this point, coming out of the north east and then building tomorrow. i think the peak winds arrive sunday into monday. we are we're talking about the possibilities of the wind gusts getting to 40 miles an hour. you can see that as look here. it may just be a breezy day with showers expected. look at this, not a big rain maker, unfortunately. we know we need the rain but if if one of these bands gets going and moves through the area, we could pick up an inch in some locations. others could miss out all together. cape cod is going to be a rough go with the winds and showers expected into monday.
