deadly weapon and disorderly conduct. he is being held until a court appearance on friday. also break firefighters responding to the orange line at back bay station for an electrical fire. that's what they determined. the mbta said service is delayed because of fire. >> adam: more breaking news, a driver on a collision course is facing charges after his car ended up in the cape cod canal. you can see some of the video blind me. the car dropped 30 feet before crashing into the water but somehow the driver was not seriously injured. let's get out to jonathan hall live with the latest for us today. jon. >> reporter: this story the talk of the cape today. you know this little road 100 years ago was a hoy to cape cod over the brand new canal. this morning a guy drove through here as if it was still a highway. a bourne resident in his 50s swimming in the cape

drive off of a cliff. >> are you all right? >> reporter: the man drove his 2006 ford folk u.s. into the water. plunging down 30-40 feet after crashing through a fence, live power lines and apparently clearing a well born bike and jogging pennsylvania two men walking up a walkway toward the overlook spotted the man slowly following them into his car until they got to the overlook. >> he paced back and forth and d else. j.d.said i think this guy is going to go for it so he turn around purchase i said he is leaving. >> reporter: seconds later the man gunned his ford. it's about 10--- 10:20 this morning. >> he came barreling down the road. hit this overparks took out the guard rail. hit the two wires and landed in water. >> reporter: e.m.t.'s rushed the man to a rhode island hospital for

a framingham state university police officer in court today facing disturbing charges. he is not answering questions as he left the courthouse but he is accused of inappropriate conduct with a student and is facing several charges including gross lewdness and witness intimidation. he is banned from campus. fighting the use of police body cameras, boston largest's police union is asking a judge to delay the start of a new program andto testified. brandon gunnoe live in boston to tell us exactly what happened at today's hearing. >> reporter: kim, here in court city attorneys were suggesting that the boston police union doesn't want its officers to wear body cameras. the union president said that is not true but it is a complex issue. there are a lot of questions that are unanswered. you see back in july the police union agreed to body cameras on boston police officers like other parts of the country.

guess how many did? just one. so the commissioner ordered that 100 random officers to wear body cameras and that would have started next monday. the union said that broke the agreement and in court the union wanted to stop the body cam program until an agreement was reached. both sides said they agreed body cams are in the best interest of the public. >> i thought it was important for the citizens to know that i believe these cameras are going to show case our members, the boston. we have nothing to hide. >> i realize that they want us to be as transparent and as accountable as we possibly can be in everything we do whether it's hiring, whether it's the body cameras, whether it's the internal affairs. >> reporter: the commissioner ended by saying that the boston police force is the best in the country. especially at community policing. court resumes tomorrow and the judge said he wants a
