nick 'em obs live in lawrence to give us breaking details. what happened, nick? >> reporter: adam, kim, what we've learned this officer has been identified as joseph carbury. officers were responding to his home around 12:30 this morning for a domestic call. they were told he was intoxicated and armed. when the responding officers showed up within minutes they say they heard gun shots coming from inside the they noticed the front door was open. a large dog ran out. it was aggressive. they were forced to open fire hitting the dog once. carbury became upset his dog was shot. he came to the door. officers convinced him to surrender. they believe they found what they thought was a self inflicted gun shot wound to his

police say carbury had a permit to own a gun. 2 hand guns outside. a 357 magnum and a 40 caliber. the wife is cooperating. she's obviously very shaken. there is no history at the home or with carbury himself. he was arraigned in lawrence general hospital. facing several charges including assault with a dangerous weapon. disorderly conduct and to commit a crime. being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing that will be this upcoming friday. latest in lawrence nick emmons 7 news. >> anchor: police had a meeting with students at weston high school today. >> anchor: there's concern inappropriate pictures of students may have been posted to the popular app snap chat. tim caputo live in weston to tell us more. >> reporter: weston police were

to look into this. sophomore boys specifically just sophomore boys were tricked into sending naked pictures to a popular app. explicit photose of themselves to a fake snap chat account. >> i'm shocked i guess. no one knows who it is yet. >> reporter: the rumor spread around school. the school's principal held an assembly >> this is a teachable moment for us. it's an opportunity to reflect as parents with our kids to say you know be mindful of what you're being asked to give out there. >> reporter: weston police were at the assembly as well. it's believed the fake account did not target female students. only sophomore boys were asked to send naked pictures of themselves. >> no one knows if it's a student or outside student or adult. it is scaring people.

alleged compromising photo. the sergeant warned students sending pictures like that could be considered child porn. alarmed parents and school administratives alike. >> we're always reminding them you know not to put anything out there you don't want everyone to see. >> reporter: at this point police tell me there's no active investigation. they are asking if students here at the school who know information or were victimized in this case they're asking them to come forward. live in weston tim caputo 7 news. ; fire fighters responding to this scene on the orange line of the back bay station. they say it was an electrical fire. no one was hurt and it's out. >> anchor: we are tracking the remnants of hermine. the storm inching along. we're still feeling some of the lasting effects today.

canal. hard to believe this guy suffered minor injuries. the focus went down 30 to 40 feet through power lines into the bike path and canal. >> flames started here. his vehicle went nose diving. 15 top 20 seconds later he emerged from the water. >> reporter: they walked up 150 yard path which is clearly marked no vecl this point. he got out commented on the view paced back and forth and adjusted his mirrors. once the engine started roaring we knew something was going to happen. >> reporter: police are investigating whether this was a crazy stunt or a suicide attempt. >> we're fortunate he survived not a busy saturday or sunday. >> reporter: minor injuries here and considering the fact that

him. the power lines could have electrocuted him. the water could have drowned him. it's an amazing story of survival after this dangerous drive. >> anchor: a camera controversy gaining momentum in boston. the city holding a meeting about equipping police officers with body cameras. >> reporter: the commissioner says he supports body cara public and protect his officers. he doesn't like it being mandated and feels the department should take the initiative. >> so help me god. >> reporter: pat rose answering questions in court on why he feels the city should weight to require police officers to wear body cameras on duty. >> we have nothing to hide. i wanted to tell the public. we agreed to the public. we're willing to go with it. i was proud of it.

agreed to body cameras if 100 officers volunteered. how many volunteered? 1. in a program that would have started next monday. the police union said that broke the agreement. the police commissioner said he was luke warm on the idea of body cameras at first. it will help to show the job his officers do on the streets of boston every day. >> we're the best police department in this incident away from what happened in other cities. >> it would be inappropriate to make a statement at this time. we're in the middle of a hearing. >> reporter: you think things went all right in there? >> have a nice day. >> reporter: court resumes tomorrow. and the judge said he wants a ruling by friday since this program was supposed to start on monday.

man behind the wheel in a deadly hit and run appearing in court. anthony buchanan faced a judge after driving drunk and speeding. few hours later detectives say the 39 year old turned himself into police and committed the crime. here's the woman who was killed. her name genet sims and her family heart broken. >> it was a weekend for him you know. my sister it's a li i feel like he hasn't -- he hasn't [inaudible]. >> anchor: buchanan is charged with motor vehicle homicide, driving drunk, speeding and leaving the scene of a crash. >> anchor: his cruiser was rear ended by a woman who police say was driving drunk. and did suffer nonlife threatening injuries. the 21-year-old woman who hit him was arrested. >> anchor: a car flips in a

wilter dormaville pled not guilty to all of the charges. he's accused of conduct and witness intimidation. a student at framingham state where dormaville served as that police officer claims he exposed himself to her at the station. later apologizing and asking her to forget it happened. he is banned from the framingham state campus right now. >> anchor: a new tolling taking a toll on drivers. transit officials say they plan to get rid of all toll booths by 2017 on the mass pike, the tovin bridge and boston tunnels all of them. drivers will be able to use easy passes or mailed bills. 6 more public meetings held to discuss those plans. ; preparing for the cardinals. the patriots hitting the field in foxborough. and what happens when bill
