quarterback. >> and we begin at 5:00 with breaking news out of new hampshire where a stand 8 has a home there on lock-down. it's coming to an end we understand right now and we saw s.w.a.t. teams with guns drawn surrounding that home just a short time ago. the person inside we're told is now deceased. >> police were keeping people away but just starting to allow them to go back into homes. it's happening in brentwood, jonathan hall is on the phone to give us details here. >> good afternoon. one man is dead but not after neighbors are exposed to a very, very intense situation in this neighborhood. a s.w.a.t. team is where an armed suicidal man was believed to be inside.

committed suicide. police found him dead in his home and neighbors had to stay in their homes, those who had gone out could not drive in. had to meet at a clubhouse. they say they like this neighborhood but bad things have really happened here. look at this firey scene an officer was ambushed, murdered on the job. the killer set off multiple explosions in the home. it burned and police say they acted today out of an abundance of caution. turned out nobody was ever in any danger. i asked the police luther has whether the man has fired shots at any of his neighbors and he says no, they were being cautious. jonathan hall, 7news. >> a troubling discovery at the brain tree police department. drug cases are being thrown out after an audit of the evidence room. an investigation into some missing evidence revealing

but the left lane is open and traffic is slowly creeping through. the lane will remain closed until the telephone poll can be fixed so that it's not dangerous for drivers. sky 7 hd was on the scene when this crash happened around 11:00 a.m. the car hit the at the time pole and fire crews had to pull one person from the passenger's side because he was trapped inside. using the jaws of life, state police say t to beth israel and one of those individuals is in serious condition. back out here live, you can see again that crews are out here working to fix this telephone pole. we expect that one lane eastbound on route 9 will be closed into the early hours of the evening affecting the commute. you can see right now that traffic is coming through slowly at a trickle. of course, as soon as that one lane re-opens, we will let you know.

7news turning to your forecast, it's this summer's last dance. humidity in the air, temperatures in the 80s but we're tracking a cool front this afternoon that's triggering scattered showers and some brief downpours. jeremy reiner tracking it all for us. >> right now showers and downpours and even a few thunderstorms marching across southern new england. this right here, that's the one that blasted through boston about 4:4:15 now well off this came through the worcester area. it would be this narrow band of rainshower activity and downpour activity that will slide across gillette over the next 30 to 45 minutes. i think the actual concert, the shower and storm threat will be over. farther north, here is the cold front right here kicking off showers and thunderstorms across southeast new hampshire racing towards the scots.

everyone the shower and storm threat will fade away early this evening. cold front now moving through new england as the leading edge of much more comfortable air. muggy across southern new england but feels like fall across southern canada. we'll talk more about it in a few minutes. >> there's more news today, a bus stop scare in norfolk, a 2-year-old boy hit by a car when witnesses say he stepped into the street. the toddler was rushed to the hospital. this afterno cuoco is live on the scene with more. >> we know the child was awake and stabilized before being transported. you'll hear in these calls just how tense it was here this morning. >> that child has been hit by a car. >> reporter: a scary 911 call wednesday morning made after neighbors in norfolk saw a

>> a child is struck. >> reporter: witnesses told police the boy was walking to the bus stop with his brother and mother within he ran into the street. >> i heard the screaming and yelling of the children and the parents that were out there waiting with their children. >> reporter: emergency responders found the toddler on the side of the road with his parents. they say he was, and alert. he was taken by helicopter to tufts medical center. neighborhood as the boy. >> this little boy was lying on the side of the road. a couple minutes later he did stop to moan a little bit and then he started to cry. >> two other children witnessed this crash. school officials say they're helping them and say they went into classrooms with counselors. neighbors say that is known as a dangerous stretch of road. >> you can't see police say all

investigation. live in norfolk, john cuoco, 7news. a new trial for a convicted murderer getting wrund way in federal court. jury selection started in the indicates against gary ley sampson convicted of killing three men back in 2001. sampson was sentenced to death 13 years ago but that was thrown out in 2011 because of juror misconduct. a new jury will decide if he will spend life in prison or get the death penalty. >> the bait rots putting they will go up against the dolphins this year. randy gillette is here this afternoon and what the team is saying. >> gronkowski back at practice surrounded by players you would think running sky high after a season-opening win on the road against a tough arizona team. >> any w feels good.

it's full of junk is the concern. obviously, you see the tires off to the left there, whether any of those are on fire. doesn't appear right here but what's burning right now is clearly producing some very black smoke and there are a lot of flames there, looks like i see the front of a car there, looks like a bunch of garbage. not sure exactly where this is in bridge water but the concern right now is getting the fire out and whether any of the fumes being produced by the fire could be toxic and where the wind blowing. something firefighters are taking into consideration right now. several trucks are spraying water over the top this fire, looks like multiple points of this area of this junkyard are on fire. how it spread from two cars like that to, you know, jumping over to this area it all looks pretty strange, but either way it looks like several crews are on scene, trying to get ahold of it with those big trucks. doesn't appear the firefighters are very close because if probably is also concern of

methuen. authorities releasing new information about a murder suspect. so here is a look at the tattoos on amelio delarosa. one is a big cross on his neck and upper back. the other, the name wanda written out on his arm, that's the name of his exgirlfriend, delarosa is accused of strangling her inside her methuen home. police say their 4-year-old son witnessed the crime. delarosa still on the a scatter, of showers, downpours, even some thunderstorms, this right there now north of province town, racing away. this came through metro boston about an hour, hour and a half ago. farther south we do have other showers and downpours. this right here right on top of gel lith stadium, it's right about there, and again the heaviest part of the downpour is south of gillette. so the good news here is that once this clears within the next

after a high of 90 degrees. we did hit 90 degrees in the city this afternoon. burlington and vermont, i went too fast there, 67. so that's the cooler more comfortable air. humid, mostly clear and cool after midnight tonight. for most of us mid-50s. boston around 60. some of the cool spots 52. and for tomorrow, mostly sunny skies. maybe a little bit on cool side, especially boston north, temps in the mid- and upper 6 farther inland near 70. and friday we start in the 40s, and then by the afternoon hours temps in the mid-70s. so the tropics, quite active. this is tropical storm julia near charleston south carolina. will not do what hermine did and barrel up the eastern seaboard because this front that's coming through new england won't allow it. it will pin it right there at the south carolina coastline. this right here is thunderstorm ian. way over here, that is a clump of thunderstorms right now, a tropical depression that may
