so, think about it: new hampshire can choose the special interests' senator with kelly ayotte... or a people's senator, for a change. i'm maggie hassan and i approve this message. >> sarah: we are following breaking news. a tense five-hour-long standoff at a convenience store in rehoboth coming to a dramatic end. that man was surrounded by swat teams. taken into custody, he jumped out of the car and took off. we want to get to nicole oliverio with the breaking details. nicole? >> reporter: a dramatic scene playing out here at the cumberland farms. the suspect was taken away in an ambulance. you can see police remain here on the scene collecting evidence. all of this starting just before 7:00 this morning. a nearly five-hour-long

away running. but officers were ready and quickly made an arrest. a spokesperson for the store says around 7:00 this morning, a man walked in and threatened to hurt one of the employees. everyone inside made it out safely. but the suspect remained. allegedly, threatening to blow up the store. >> we really didn't see anything. we looked down the street. and there was cop cars. that is all we saw. we weren't sure what was going on. >> reporter: police blocked off a large stretch of routes 44 and 118. causing a major detour and forcing stores country kitchen to close for the day. >> it hurts. we are a little mom-and-pop trying to get started. this doesn't help the situation. >> reporter: police from nearby departments have the store surrounded. it is unclear what the man said to store employees or what the demands are, if any. cumberland farms employees remained closed to the scene. they couldn't talk about what happened. a spokesperson says no one inside was hurt. >> it is scary. we go to cumberland farms every day.

>> reporter: we are still waiting for an update from rehoe bot police. as you can see, several agencies remain here on the scene. collecting evidence. the standoff came to an end when police used the flash grenades and then caught the suspect after he tried running away. break nicole, thank you. police in ohio a 13-year-old boy. columbus police opened fire when the teen pulled a gun from his waistband wednesday night. it turned out to be a b.b. gun. police say the teen and two other males matched the descriptions of the robbery suspects. now officials in ohio say they are investigating that officer's actions. >> once the investigation is complete, the prosecutor will present that to a grand jury. and the grand jury will then decide whether or not criminal charges should be filed.

the street to perform their job if i don't trust them to be capable of doing so. >> anchor: the officer involved is now on administrative leave. >> sarah: also on 7: a dollar store employee called to court. he is facing alarming allegations. accused of videotaping customers inside the dollar tree store in malden. steve cooper live at the courthouse with all the details. >> reporter: so that suspect you talked about came to court here this morning. he pleaded not guilty to the charges. but according to investigators, they captured the whole incident on store security surveillance cameras. 29-year-old christopher molina had no comment after facing a judge in malden district court on charges of upskirting and photographing an unsuspecting nude person. investigators say molina was arrested last night after witnesses told police they saw him taking pictures with his

on broadway in malden. molina, an employee at the store, was working at the time. the victim was an unsuspecting customer. and it was witnesses who confronted molina and alerted the manager. >> you can tell there is awkwardness and tension. nobody is talking about anything. >> reporter: sources say police have seized molina's cell phone and surveillance video from inside the store that captures the incident on camera. >> have you done this before or was this a first time for you? can you tell us why youe >> reporter: police are talking about the incident. detectives want to know if this was an isolated incident or if molina has done this before. prosecutors were requesting strict conditions for his release. >> we would ask that mr. molina stay away and not contact the named victim and the witnesses in this case. and stay away from the store in question. the dollar store. on broadway street in malden. >> reporter: so molina was released on personal

dew points are going to stay in check for the next couple of days. highs this afternoon, only climbing into the upper 60's. and low 70's. we are actually going to be below average today. we will get closer to that average temperature tomorrow. then as we head into the weekend, upper 70's. but we do have to talk about the chance for some rain sunday into monday. more on that coming up. back to you guys. >> sarah: more news today: the search for a missing swimmer continues in a pond in resurface wednesday afternoon when he and two friends jumped out of a boat and into the water. the coast guard searched by helicopter and by boat. crews had to call off their search last night due to a thunderstorm. >> anchor: a 17-year-old will face a judge today after he stabbed a man during a violent home invasion. according to investigators, the teen entered a home on livingston avenue last night and demanded money before stabbing a 25-year-old man several times. the victim was taken to

>> sarah: police are investigating criminal concerns in braintree. this could put hundreds of suspects back on the street. investigators say a former officer tampered with evidence and lawyers are already asking for judges to drop their case. >> reporter: missing evidence from the braintree police department contained hundreds of criminal days. this newly released audit says almost 5,000 pieces of narcotics evidence property evidence and more than $400,000 in seized cash went missing. >> i find the auditor's report of unaccounted-for items and poor record-keeping practices by the police department to be deeply troubling. and unacceptable. >> reporter: the alarming turn of events began in may with the suicide of officer susan zapotti who was in charge of the evidence room. she took her own life days

and at least two of the guns that turned up missing were found in her home. fallout has already started. today, a 47-year-old stephen o'brien, allegedly caught on surveillance vild owe trying to kidnap a 13-month-old child in a store and also had a previous drug charge will now have those charges thrown out. despite county prosecutors having a strong case. >> with the current state of the evidence room in braintree, we cannot prosecute the case at this stage. report tt defense also be dropped. >> this is really going to open up a can of worms or a whole pandora's box. in that they may have to look at some of these prior convictions. people either pleaded guilty in the face of evidence that could have been tampered with or they lost trials and they may have to try to undo all of that. >> anchor: an hours-long standoff in brentwood, new hampshire comes to an end when a man commits suicide.

barricaded himself inside with a gun. people who were trying to get home were kept out of their neighborhood during that standoff. >> sarah: new details in the search for an alleged killer in methuen. we are now seeing new photos of the suspect's tattoos. authorities release these two pictures, hoping it will help catch emilio de la rosa. he has a big cross on his neck and upper back and then on his arm. police say their four-year-old son witnessed the crime. >> anchor: a murder suspect's cell phone helped police track him to rhode island days after he allegedly gunned down a north carolina police officer. police in coventry, rhode island arrested irving fenner yesterday morning. fenner is accused of shooting a shelby, north carolina officer on saturday. he is being held without bail right now. now to the race for the white house. hillary clinton will be back on the campaign trail today.

since sunday, as she recovers from pneumonia. the democrat will hold an event in greensboro, north carolina. this is her first stop since taking a break after video surfaced of her unsteady on her feet at a 9-11 memorial on sunday. the former secretary of state colin powell slamming trump and clinton in leaked e-mails. now officials are saying they believe the hackers have ties to russian intelligence services. powell called trump a national disgrace and said clinton was greedy. of the e-mail, saying the hackers have a lot more. >> sarah: donald trump will be in laconia, new hampshire tonight for a rally at the middle school there. recent polls show clinton with a 5% lead over trump in the granite state. that is a lower lead than she had in august. trump visited an african-american church in flint, michigan yesterday. and when he started attacking clinton, a pastor there stepped in to stop him. >> i invited you here to thank

(inaudible) >> that was reported during the standoff. you know, the thing you have to understand is, so they were in the armored cars, if you will. reported to one of his supervisors. had something in his waistband that appeared to be the butt of a gun. we have yet to determine. >> did you say what the charges against him may be? >> we are still sorting that out at this point in time. at this point, we are just glad to have him in custody. nobody has been injured. and we will move forward from this point. i will certainly advise you of

similar to this? >> no. no. >> how far away were the officers when they were in the vehicles? >> the closest swat officers were within ten feet. >> what kind of vehicle was it that he rammed into? >> yes. they brought two armored vehicles. in they put one in front of his vehicle. and one in back. because they were afraid at some point, he may jump behind the wheel and attempt to flee. so to minimize that, they placed the two vehicles right up against his car front and back. they remained there with swat members around their vehicles. throughout the standoff. he had extensive conversation with the crisis negotiators. we are trying to talk him into,

>> was he making any demands? >> not that i'm aware of. i wasn't involved in that end of it. directly. when we bring in the regional swat team, they have a team of negotiators that they bring in. so i wasn't, i wasn't really on that end to hear specifically what the conversations were. >> there was an officer in the vehicle >> there was... the one that he backed into, there were swat officers in those vehicles, yes. >> do you know what triggered him to sort of ram the vehicle and then, obviously,... was it something that happened prior to that? >> for some reason, he jumped over into the seat and threw the car into reverse. struck the vehicle. and then jumped out and

he was driving a silver saturn s.u.v., i believe it was. >> you said you didn't negotiate with him directly. i mean,... >> he was making threats to the officers. he was in a very agitated state. so he is at morton hospital. he will be evaluated by the crisis team down there. there could be some mental health issues as well. that will need to be determined at morton hospital. but he was in a very agitated state. continuously threatening the officers. at one point, when the second and third officers arrived, he pulled the gas off the pump and threatened to blow the place up. shortly after the swat team arrived on scene, he leaned out of the vehicle, grabbed

was not successful. we had the pumps shut down immediately. >> sarah: all right. a press conference from the rehoboth police about this standoff at cumberland farms. we do know, as we see in the video, the suspect was in the passenger seat of this car before he took off. thankfully, though, we have learned no one was hurt in this. but rehoboth police throughout all of, this even after the suspect was taken into custody, he continued threatening police. even trying to this... light this area on fire. unsuccessfully, thankfully. >> anchor: he pulled the gas hose off the pump and threatened to blow up the store there. cumberland farms saying they had shut down the gas pumps after all of this began. this began, apparently, when he threatened an employee there. police responded. this is on winthrop street in rehoboth. after a five-hour standoff, police did make an arrest. >> sarah: we will have much more on this with a live

that man was surrounded by a swat team. >> anchor: we want to get to nicole oliverio live with the breaking details. nicole? >> reporter: jen, we just spoke with the police chief. he is give drag mattick accounts of what happened between the standoff between police and that suspect. so this all began just after 7:00 this morning and came to an end around 11:00, 11:30. finally, police used a flash grenade to get of the car that he had been sitting in for hours. the suspect tried taking off. but police had the cumberland farms surrounded and quickly made an arrest. they did say they had to use the bean-bag guns on him. and that suspect did suffer some injuries. this all began just after 7:00 this morning. cumberland farms says that the suspect, 38-year-old benjamin kimball of north attleborough had gone into the store and threatened an employee. now, it is unclear exactly what he said to the employee. but as he came out of the car,

according to officers, they say that kimball then grabbed one of the gas tanks, grabbed the hose of the gas tank, with the lighter and threatened to blow up the cumberland farms and the gas station. fortunately, those pumps had already been turned off. at that point, the suspect jumped in his car and had been sitting in the passenger seat. this came to an end just after 11:00 when police say he then jumped behind the driver's-side, got behind the armored cars and that's when they used the flash grenades. that is when you saw him running. that suspect has been taken to morton hospital. he is expected to face a number of charges. nicole oliverio, 7 news. >> anchor: breaking news in ohio. police there shot and killed a 13-year-old boy while responding to an armed robbery. investigators say columbus police opened fire when the

released on personal recognizance with those strict conditions ordered by the judge. he returns to court next month. and the investigation according to police is ongoing. in malden, steve cooper, 7 news. >> anchor: boston drivers may be going hands-free. the city will be one of the first to test driver-less cars. boston was chosen out of ten applicants because of the city's transportation innovations. city officials say a key part of the plan will be developing policies for the new technology. the legality of driverless here in massachusetts. in pittsburgh, tests have already begun with driverless ubers. there is an uber engineer at the wheel, though. reactions are split. >> i would definitely feel comfortable riding in a self-driving car. i trust it over human drivers. i just took an uber. they asked me if i would take

>> sarah: mark wahlberg regrets requesting a pardon for a crime he committed as a teenager. wahlberg was convicted of assault and battery against a man when he was 16 years old. the actor says one good thing came from the pardon request. he got to meet with the victim and his wife as well as their daughter fbs. he apologized. and in an interview, the actor said "i didn't need. that i spent 28 years righting the wrong. i didn't need a piece of paper to acknowlge doing it. i certainly didn't need to or want to relive that stuff over again."
