like that could happen around here. >> scary. that's not something you would think about in a quiet neighborhood. >> amaka: the woman told officers she was walking around foundry street at 6:00 a.m. thursday when a man came up behind her and kicked her. she told police she lost consciousness briefly and she may have been sexually assaulted. the woman was able to get away, getting help at a nearby business. she was then taken to brockton hospital. but i've never seen or heard anything like that before. >> amaka: officers were back in the neighborhood friday patrolling the area. police say the woman was unable to give a suspect description. ryan sloan says his wife normally walks their basset hound around the neighborhood but since this attack, not anymore. >> she seems pretty upset about it. she normally walks the dog by herself every day, so i'm pretty sure that won't be happening for a little while. >> it definitely makes me want to double check over my back. >> amaka: police don't have a

reporting live from woburn, kimberly bookman, 7 news night team. >> adam: the two people convicted in the saugus snapchat trial sentenced today. 21-year-old rashad deihim and 21-year-old kailyn bonia both face four five years in prison plus three years probation. they were found guilty of sexually assaulting a then-16-year-old girl behind a saugus middle school while a friend recorded and sent the video out at snapchat. prosecutors say it was a vicious crime. >> it was a targeted, vicious, they had her so badly misused, violated and disrespected is really deeply troubling. >> adam: both must register as sex offenders when they get out of prison. >> also from the might team... >> everyone that carries a gun is a pad person. not everyone that does a crime is a bad person. ism step by step boston's police superintendent is pushing for peace and unity in the city. he spoke with 7news's political

well-being of the community -- and instead of looking like a clint eastwood macho cop, i'm like, hey, this person is human. >> andy: gross' challenge is to change how people see police. >> what i learned is that not everyone who carries a gun is a bad person. not everyone that does a crime is a bad person, but as police officers, our job transcends us from locking people up. we what they did. >> andy: but don't think he's soft on crime. >> you are not soft if you have empathy, care and respect for people. as a matter of fact, you're stronger. >> andy: and gross is strong enough to admit what many officials won't. >> everybody knows there's racism. we acknowledge that. >> andy: at boston police headquarters, his office is filled with reminders for the struggle for civil rights. i ask gross what he thinks when he sees all the anti-police

>> adam: all right, so in boston, this bird is the word. her name is she has a rare disease that prevents her from growing feathers. >> jadiann: a local woman gave this bird a second chance. now the bird is finding newfound fame online. the night team's brandon gunnoe has the story. >> brandon: meet ria, the two-year-old featherless love bird. she may be naked, but when her vet said she needed a new home, she just had to have her. >> i fell in love with her. i have been an animal lover all my life.

that can be fatal. it's very contagious for other birds, and her owner fell in love with her. it seems to be mutual, even if it wasn't at first. >> she didn't let me touch her at all, at all, but after two weeks now, i can actually grab her and touch her, pet her. she cuddles with me. she likes me very much now. >> brandon: and the world loves ria, too. in six weeks ria has more than 74,000 followers on instagram. >> in the beg negative. people were telling me it was disgusting and weird. i was scared it would be too negative. i'm using this hashtag naked and beautiful, and people go along with that. >> brandon: the bird has to have blood-work done once a year, but mostly she gets cold without her feathers. >> she's very funny.

she hates the cage, loves being on people's shoulders. she's very loud. >> brandon: isabella and her boyfriend also have a teacup yorkie that's very jealous. the dog and the bird have a love-hate relationship. in boston, brandon gunnoe, 7news night team. >> jadiann: and a saved by the sea in wellfleet today. crews rushing to the rescue of a stranded dolphin. now, this dolphin was struck in the flts off the herring river. there you can see crews rolling that animal to the water. crews also rescued 16 dolphins from that same area yesterday, bringing them to barnstable to none were injured. very happy ending. >> adam: 60 degrees right now. i think that's the temperature taken out at logan airport. so another chilly night. ism definitely. maybe grab a swett. >> jeremy: cooling off late tonight and early tomorrow morning. a fantastic day tomorrow. partly to mostly sunny skies. sunday will feature more clouds, also more humidity on sunday with a few passing showers. nothing widespread or long lasting.

downpours into new england on monday. here's your weather map tomorrow. high pressure close by. and then on sunday, here comes a cool front, slow-moving cool front generating more clouds than tomorrow. a few showers. you see these green blobs scattered around the northeast, those are scattered showers, but no widespread significant rain on sunday. so have the rain gear on stand-by. now for monday, the same front is actually still here during the day. but what it will do is try to scoop up some leftover moisture from the remains of tca she's not going to bother. she'll stay put and fall apart. but leftover moisture may work itself up into new england in the form of some showers and downpours during the day on monday. so again, sunday, not much rain. i think a lot of you probably go the entire day and not have any rain at all. then on monday, the higher chance of rain and heavier rain, as well, perhaps upward of an inch of beneficial rain to start chewing into this extreme drought that we have across southern new england.
