>> anchor: tonight garoppolo sidelined with a shoulder injury. reports say x-rays are negative. but there is major concerns right now about his throwing arm. we have three crews at gillette stadium to bring you the latest. >> anchor: first, a bombing in new york city. take a look right here. this is new video that shows the moment that blast rocked that chelsea neighborhood and sent 29 people to the hospital last night. a second device which did not detonate was also found blocks

reporting that sources say there may be a connection between the bombing in new york and in an earlier blast yesterday in new jersey. there are possible similarities between the trigger devices. investigators now working around the clock to find who was responsible for both of these bombings. >> we have team 7 coverage of the investigation. we begin with dan hausle live in new york city. dan? >> reporter: interesting that triggering devices of the bomb here and the bomb in new jersey because original reports said it was a different kind of bomb. with a different kind of explosive powder that the residue was showing. behind me, you can see investigators still on the streets here. 23rd street where the bomb went off. you can see some of the markers here, marking the evidence where the shrapnel went into the street. all across the street, injuring 29 people. another device found about four blocks away from here.

the bomb used in the boston marathon bombings. >> number one, whoever placed these bombs, we will find and they will be brought to justice. number two, we will not allow these type of people and these type of threats to disrupt our life in new york. >> reporter: governor andrew cuomo speaking to the people of new york sunday, vowing that authorities will catch whomever is responsible for manhattan that left nearly 30 people injured. >> i was driving a car. and next thing you know, i felt an explosion. and the car just tilted over. and came back down. what happened was i just blacked out. the next thing you know, i'm in an ambulance. >> reporter: this is surveillance video from inside a fitness studio. you can see glass shattering at the moment of the explosion. people on the sidewalk start to run. >> i heard the explosion. moments later, i heard debris falling on the ground. like, glass shattering and

>> reporter: investigators think the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster. a few blocks away, investigators found a pressure-cooker with what appeared to be a cell phone duct-taped to it. investigators say they have not found any evidence of a connection to terrorism, but the mayor says this was a deliberate act. >> it was not an accident. it was intentional. >> reporter: and the investigators are also looking into a claim of responsibility that was put on the social media net not saying whether they believe it is a true claim of responsibility. 29 people who were taken to the hospital and treat have had been released at this time. we are live in new york city, dan hausle, 7 news. >> anchor: investigators still on the scene with the evidence markers and the crime scene tape. can you describe atmosphere where you are? >> surprisingly, like any other day in new york city. a lot of tourists coming by.

stop and take pictures and then asking them to move along. tomorrow, there is a big meeting of the u.n. looking at syrian ref jeeltz. that had been declared a special security event. you the bet that after these incidents, the security will be ramp evidented up even more. but officials are saying people should go on with their lives. i saw people coming back to the blast area here. some parents with their children in a carriage. obviously, people are not concerned at this time about any kind of follow-up incident. but investigators and officials here if they see something, they are being told to say something. back to you. >> anchor: all right, dan. thank you. this explosion in new york city bringing back bad memories of the boston marathon bombings. there are some scary similarities. >> anchor: we spoke to one of the lead investigators on that case today. the former head of the mass. state police. kelli o'hara continues our team coverage from the newsroom. kelli? >> reporter: too many scary

over on cw 56. >> anchor: isis claiming responsibility after a man goes on a stabbing spree at a minnesota mall, injuring nine people. officials say the suspect made references to allah and asked people if they were muslim. before stabbing them. an off-duty policeman at the mall was able to shoot the man, killing him. >> anchor: more breaking news. patriots quarterback jimmy garoppolo hurt at gillette stadium with this play right here. he went down ith injury. and did not return. garoppolo was in the middle of a near-perfect performance. >> anchor: the scenario causing patriots nation to have a big gasp when that happened. joe amorosino here with the very latest. >> reporter: jimmy garoppolo led the patriots to a 24-0 lead. garoppolo suffering a shoulder injury. he was out for the rest of the game. the patriots were lucky to hold on for a 31-24 win. left's show you how it went

start the game. three touchdowns. 234 yards through the air. late in the second quarter, he was thrown to the turf by alonzo. landing directly on his throwing shoulder. it was a clean hit. a hit that knocked garoppolo out of the game. initial reports were x-rays negative. he was sent to the hospital for further evaluation. fbs and comcast new england, tommy curran is reporting right now that it is an a.c. joint injury in that shoulder. garoppolo will miss at least one week. despite trailing 1-3, miami had a chance to win it with ten seconds to go. ryan tannehill is picked offer in the end zone. the patriots win it 31-24. but at a cost. trey daerr reports live at gillette stadium with more on garoppolo's injuries. trey? >> reporter: joe, there is certainly a reason why quarterback t quarterback is the most valued position in all of sports. playing without tom brady, jimmy garoppolo looked borderline elite through six n.f.l. quarters. as we have seen time and time

>> anchor: many of us winding down the day thinking what rain. theiry a blip on the radar at this point. a lot of cloud cover. a mild muggy feel. i do promise there is more rain on the way for us. just on the horizon. you see some showers and even some strong storms. central pennsylvania. up through western new york state. that is coming in for us. as we head into the overnight hours and into tomorrow. and the set-is up a little more promising for that time

that is coming in from the southwest. it just needs that trigger mechanism coming in the form of a cold front. to sort of squeeze out the wash cloth. a lot of moisture up there. we just need to get it down here. maybe you noticed, the warm sort of tropical florida feel to the day today. still at 80 degrees in boston right now. and close to that elsewhere. dew points, running in the upper 60's to near 70. this is borderline oppressive humidity. it is with us again tomorrow. as well as that wet weather. running through the timeline, that the rain really favors northwestern massachusetts. then starts to push in, yes, in time for the morning commute. and yes, for all of us. it could be a slow go tomorrow. not just localized downpours. but also some thunderstorms in here. it could be some winds blowing things around. and we keep the threat of rain with us really into the evening commute. and possible... possibly even early tuesday morning before we kick it out of here. how much is on the way? a widespread half an inch.
