west of boston, there will be some spotty showers out there. look at this. we are also picking up three inches of rain in royalston. jaffrey, new hampshire, close to three inches as well. beneficial stuff. i mean, right over parts of the area that have had the extreme drought. even worcester, just close to two inches of rain. just under it there, pepperell an inch and a third. lunenburg coming in about ann an inch and a third as well. pouft, new hampshire, an inch of water. kind of skipped over the heaviest rain from north of boston now south of boston. boston area and down through the south shore saying, hey, where is my downpour? you know, we could use some rain. overall, though, we will have two areas that tend to be jackpot areas. one mere the massachusetts-new hampshire border. and one near the south coast of new england. we have a flood advisory in place near buzzards bay. up through southern portions of plymouth county and bristol county until 1:00 p.m. then the secondary flood advisory across parts of the cape. essentially, close to hyannis.

worked in and a lot of towns in and around the buzzards bay area, falmouth, and barnstable, up into plymouth have quickly picked up on some rain the last hour or. two even some spots, when you start getting underneath these reds, showing indication of rain rates, one to two inches per hour. you can quickly pick up half an inch of rain when that comes on through. we have seen that. mainly down pinned to the coastline. now, you work your way up route 3. up 24 into boston. a gentle light rain right now. some light rain still steady into worer right along the south coast. although we are starting to see this blossom up a little bit back into central connecticut. that is going to keep some shower chances going. in boston. and up through the merrimack valley. at least into the late afternoon hours. again, not consistently heavy rain. once in a while, there may be an embedded downpour in that. we go through overnight tonight into tomorrow. we start to dry it out. although a couple of lingering showers likely around southeastern massachusetts overnight tonight and early tomorrow. by the afternoon, getting back to partly sunny skies.

the rain. but it's been beneficial out there. you are taking a look at the drought monitor here from extreme drought stretching through southern new hampshire out through central and northern worcester county. and across much of eastern massachusetts. where did we put down a lot of the water? a lot of the rain did fall across parts of that extreme drought. in fact, it is raining hard enough where it has been... a couple of flood advisories in efek for the cape as well as southern bristol and plymo in the last couple of hours. in terms of the heavy rain, it's almost been like a split decision. not all of us enjoying that soaking rain. we have lost out on the heaviest. cape ann through boston. south of the mass. pike. all the way down through southeastern massachusetts. you start to get south of route 44 and especially near buzzards bay, we picked up on quite a bit of rain. how much rain? one to two inches, generally, a theme here across southern new hampshire. the massachusetts-new hampshire border. even a few towns picking up

royalston, massachusetts, three inches of water coming out of. this even worcester, just under two. then you have to skip all the way back down to the south coast. to get close to one to one and a half-inch reports. you can see some of these cells. they are isolated in nature. you get a burst of rain. then it pulls back a little bit. then you get another burst down near falmouth. boston, out to worcester, generally, a steady light rain at this time. we continue see some steady rain out through connecticut and some embedded downpours percolating back up across western massachusetts. the theme of some scattered showers and storms certainly there in the forecast throughout the rest of the afternoon. 70 in boston. 74 in norwood. soupy air mass in place. you feel the tropical feel to the air. there is a ton of water vapor

front slides off to the east of us in its wake. we dry out. wednesday into thursday, another beautiful stretch of weather. warm but with low humidity that go-round. mid to upper 70's this afternoon. wind is out of the southwest. you have to start changing that wind direction out of the northwest to dry us out. we will do that tomorrow. this evening, overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, a couple of showers around leftover. mostly acrossth by the afternoon, partly to mostly sunny skies. temperatures lower to middle 80's. this is going to be a pleasant night at gillette. thursday night football in foxboro, 72 degrees at kickoff. back into the 6's throughout the game. not bad. right? fall officially arriving on thursday. although it won't officially feel like it until the weekend. breezy and cool saturday and sunday. >> sarah: a bizarre beach rescue taking place in rhode island. a man gets his head stuck in some rocks.

>> christa: yeah. they had to work against the rising tide here. and very fast. certainly, not your everyday type of call for first responders in narragansett who say a man got himself wedged between two rocks on a jetty. >> the area was off-limits. he was pretty far down there. >> christa: after two and a half hours, they were able to free him with an outside the box approach. >> olive oil did trick. we managed to spray him down and apply a lot ol olive oil. we were able to dislodge him. reporth firefighters say the man was there with one other person when he dropped his phone. when he bent down to pick it up, he got himself stuck all the way up to his chest. they knew they had to get him out before the tide came in. >> that was one of our concerns. where we would be later on. in the event. had the event lasted longer. f >> reporter: firefighters didn't use air-bags out of fear the rocks would shift, making matters worse. the man went to a nearby
