across the pond. how a woman from england dialed police here in massachusetts. >> and a teacher off the job after some say he took a lesson in free speech too far. first here at 5:30, we're following two breaking stories. first, a verdict reached in the trial of a man accused of shooting and killing a veteran in boston. >> also, a wild wreck in roxbury. police were on the scene after an suv, flips, rolls and lands on its s that crash. >> solet get straight over to 7's kem casey. she's in the newsroom with more with breaking details for us. >> we know three people are in the hospital as a result of the roxbury accident. police say the suv you see there was stolen and they stopped it in traffic on mlk boulevard. the driver they say took off barreled around the corner and

two people were pinned inside the suv. they've been taken to the hospital as well as one person from one of the other vehicles involved. and also break at this hour, a guilty verdict in the 2012 murder of u.s. army veteran steven perez junior. 28-year-old peter castillo found guilty by a jury who deliberated for just 90 minutes. castillo shot and killed perez after an altercation outside a bar in the theater district back in 2012. the sentencing. in the newsroom, i'm kim khazei, 7news. and we're following breaking news in wilmington where police say a pedestrian was hit and killed. the crash happening in the parking lot of the rite aid pharmacy. witnesses say a driver ran a red light, causing the crash. we have a crew there and will bring you the lightest coming up at 6:00. also on 7, a disappearing act in quincy where police say a man vanished after pulling off a major ponzi scheme. police say he stole more than a

girlfriend says some of that money was hers. she spoke to just one station. jonathan hall live in quincy with what she had to say. >> adam, this was a landmark waterfront night spot in quincy until it was closed last year when the owner decided to sell the property. a real estate broker put together a deal to buy the place and turn it into a condoplex. well, police say it turned out to be a scam, and the man who's on the run, his own girlfriend is feeling the >> i'm totally destroyed. destroyed my life. financially i'm at 0. >> reporter: this quincy real estate agent says her boyfriend of 15 years, a man she knew for 15 years, whom she met online. built her over $250,000. >> he lures people in, he shows them he's going to give them a good return and then does it again or a few more times and pulls more people into the circle. friends of friends.

>> and these investments are small and ramps it up and gets you for the big number. >> reporter: police say this is actually 67-year-old scott wollis, but police say he's had at least six aliases. robert mcdowall, alan hangst. frank hamolsh, frank and eugene woll ition. he entered a contract to buy the beach comber bar site on quincy shore drive but never showed up at the closing after months delay and hasn't been seen since croft dropped him off at the jfk t stop last week. quincy police are counting up his alleged victims. 16 so far. >> it's a ponzi type scheme. he has taken in money for real estate ventures and also something to do with japanese import of net ski, anything sounds like he can get his hands on. >> what do you think -- where do you think scott is? i have no clue. but i hope somebody out there

>> the question is where is all the money. the home is humble, they never went on trips and wollis never owned a car. the fbi joining the investigation. according to quincy police, this man is also wanted in alabama and new york. jonathan hall, 7news. and now to another story you'll see on just one station. a prom nabt northshore plastic surgeon arrested. he's accused of possessing cocaine. 7's victoria warren has the story from lynn. he is a internationally recognized plastic surgeon but police say dr. sheldon sevenor was in possession of crask cocaine in lynn sunday. >> he's a very powerful person in this town. i'm pretty shocked. had no idea. >> reporter: according to the police report, a lynn detective, who was watching a suspected drug dealer, says he and another officer believed they witnessed dr. sevnenor buying crack. the detective goes on to say

plastic surgeon's car, he made a throwing motion towards the ground and we both observed several twists of suspected narcotics fall out of sevenor's hand, dr. sevenor has a private practice at northshore medical building union hospital in lynn. union hospital is also where he performed surgery. dr. sevenor has been on the nfc medical staff for 39 years and the hospital released this statement... the doctor's southern released this statement. dr. sevenor has been a respected surgeon for 40 years. he has never been accused of any type of inappropriate behavior. that said, i respectfully decline to make any additional comment. we're in the process of reviewing the allegations and

time. the doctor's attorney was in lynn district court yesterday setting an arraignment date for next month. in lynn, victoria warren, 7news. a ground breaking case being heard by the nut hamp supreme court. the court deciding if rape shield protections should still apply on appeal. the case involves murdered college student liz ya mar ya. details of her sexual past could heal. the details of her sexual history were sealed during the trial and victims advocates believe that should remain the case for the appeal. >> if these protections are stripped away, new hampshire will stand alone and not protect the privacy and dignity of rape victims when their case is appealed. >> every state in the country has a rape shield law. lizzi marriott was a sophomore at the university of new hampshire when she was killed.

worker in court today. the crash happened back in june on route 93 in medford. police say the worker was picking up traffic cones when a car hit and killed him. state police believe the driver was drunk. 21-year-old james faced a judge in somerville accused of drunk driving and his mother has said in the past she believes he fell asleep at the wheel. he was previously held on bail but walked freely out of the courthouse today. the highway worker 52-year-old thomas odai was a husband and father of justice for his death. an morning error in barnstable after a transit line called for help. barnstable police got a call in 911 about a minor accident. when the caller tried to explain what happened there was some minor confusion. she was called a town called barnstapol in england. >> where did this happen? i'm not -- i'm not -- >> yes, muddyford. yes, between barnstable and -- >> you called the barnstable police department. >> yes. >> in massachusetts. >> massachusetts? >> so if you're wondering how she could have made that mistake. she used her smartphone assistant to make the call. and an unusual school brawl caught on camera. a video shows punches being thrown between a student and his high school english teacher in i'm phil. at one point it looks like the teacher even put the a headlock. the 16 -year-old is now facing charges and it all started because he was late for class. 7's nancy chen has more. >> reporter: police say the fight between a high school student and a teacher stem from an argument in the classroom. when first period ended, witnesses say fists were raised. the unidentified 16-year-old reportedly threw the first punch. the video appears to show both then participating in the fight. austin augustine, a senior says he was there.

punches. >> reporter: a crowd of about two dozen people seems to have watched. the video was posted to social media late monday afternoon. >> you have a quick minute to look at it? no. >> reporter: the superintendent of 5 phil schools said before he commented he wanted to watch the video on his terms. the student was charged with aggravated assault. the teacher was not charged. outside the high school sharp opinions of what's seen on that video. >> you don't fight your teacher. i came from old school. we did not fight our teacher. we listened to the teacher and did what we had to do, we did what we was told to do. >> these cowardly acts of behavior need to stop in all these schools. not just here, but around the city. >> reporter: the teacher apparently tried to call security from his classroom but

and again confronted in the hallway. the teacher ended up getting stitches, and the teachers union has not yet issued a statement. in the newsroom, nancy chen, 7news. now to a hair-raising confrontation inside a texas walmart when a shopper sees a guy pulling his daughter by her hair. the witness snapped a few photos that appeared to show the father grabbing the little girl's hair and holding it to the shopping cart as punishment. she says the patient went up and down the aisles like that. the daughter screaming the whole she called 911. police did show up but did not make an arrest. texas child protective services is now investigating. a teacher suspended after a flag foul. he says he was demonstrating the meaning of free speech by stomping on the american flag. but parents are demanding his job and it was all caught on camera. >> reporter: the picture taken by a student shows history teacher lee francis giving a lesson on the first amendment after holding up an american

lighter or scissors. >> i put the flag on the ground and take two steps with my right foot, and i said this is an example of freedom of speech. as soon as the flag hits the ground, and i step on it, two students got up and left immediately, with no word, no disruption at all. got up and left. happened. one student came to where i am and took the flag from me. >> reporter: transition, who has relatives in the military, says he didn't intend to offend students but rather the supreme court's definition of free speech as noted in the case texas versus johnson. >> this case says speech is something other than what is spoken. >> i was just appalled. >> reporter: melissa ramos, who has a daughter at the school and a son stationed at fort bragg was among the many parents furious over the demonstration demanding francis be fired. >> just personally as a military family, it's hard. to have someone do that. thank goodness that she wasn't they that class, because of her

roxbury, the intact so strong the suv ended up on its side and debris all over the place and several people injured. >> witnesses tell us that police put at least one person in handcuffs. byron barnett has the latest for us from where the accident happened. byron. police say three people have been hospitalized. one with life-threatening injuries hanging on. one person was treated and released. police are still working the en you can see they say this car on the far right, the suv flipped on its side, was stolen. police say the driver lost control before he slammed into other vehicles. >> witnesses say this suv came flying around the corner of mlk boulevard in warren street and roxbury, flipped and slammed into at least two other cars. the police were on the scene quickly but not ready to call it a police chase. >> at this point in time we're still trying to determine
