first at 11, breaking news. investigators in washington state say the suspect in a deadly mall shooting is in custody. 5 people were killed. >> anchor: the suspect was on the run for hours. the night team's john cocoa joining us with the breaking details. >> anchor: police say they caught the person that opened fire at the mall in washington state. they say the man in these surveillance pictures killed 5 people in the shooting rampage friday night. city 25 miles away from the mall. it's located in burlington, washington, about an hour outside seattle. they believe the 20?year?old suspect acted alone. police say the man first walked into the mall without a weapon. then about 10 minutes later he came back with a rifle and began shooting in a macy's. 4 women and one man died, then the suspect disappeared into the night taking off towards the highway. witnesses describe the terrifying scene. >> the girl said gun so i

next thing you know, another shot and then after that bang, bang, bang, bang. and i heard 7 or 8 shots and at that point i dropped whatever i had in my hand and started running. >> anchor: and the fbi says there's no evidence at this time. but this attack is ?? time that this attack is tied to terrorism. >> anchor: charlotte police also releasing new videos of the deadly shooting of keith mo scott's wife released her cell phone video. >> anchor: well, the police dash cam and body cam videos do not show the gun police say keith had at the time. nbc's jay gray has the latest. hundreds of protesters back in the streets of uptown charlotte tonight just hours after police released new images and information. >> in the spirit of transparency, you're going to

>> including dash and body cam video of the deadly confrontation between charlotte, police and lamont scott. they say it's not the entire video but does contain all of the images relevant to the shooting and adds the new footage will not answer all of the questions in the case. >> there is no definitive visual evidence that he had a gun in his hand. you can see something in the hand and that he pointed it at an officer. >> police are also sharing details investigation and marijuana and then recovering at the scene and they have fingerprins and dna on the weapon. and then all the officers involved are reacting appropriately and will not face charges in violated from the department. >> and then they continue and as do concerns for scott's family. >> we are left with far more

who batter said damaged his car. the person behind this camera thought the officer was being too rough. this extended clip that they used when deciding the officer wasn't too rough on the man. the commissioner says he wants public trust. >> after we did what i thought was a pretty big investigation there were still doubters and had some bad incidents on video and got it right out and to let decision and we're doing a good job and i think it comes to being very transparent and not having anything to hide. >> anchor: and the commissioner says with everything happening in charlotte and around the country, he wants to be as transparent as possible. and says in this day and age you need to be and the mayor agrees. >> in boston if you have video and for this incident and it happens and happens in the shooting in the city. >> i think people understand

there knowing there is nothing being hidden. >> and as for that officer he is back on the job and the commissioner says he may be receiving some counseling. in boston tonight. kelly o'hara, 7 news night team. >> a woman goes on the dangerous drive through a weymouth wal?mart parking lot. witnesses say the elderly woman was attempting to park her car when this happened. apparently she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and ended up on top of another car. they say this was the end of a wild ride here. a woman hit multiple cars and carriages ended up piling on top of the car. >> the lady was backing up and one ended up underneath her

you'll see, though, normal high for boston for this time of the year. 70?. we'll be below that and haven't had a string of cooler temperatures like that for quite some time. it's already fairly chilly. 42 in norwood and 45 in bedford and 47 in plymouth. the temperatures will be dropping back tonight. we have clear skies. light winds. perfect ingredients for radiational cooling. the heat from the surface escaping back into the atmosphere and the temperatures cool in response. mid to upper question as well as some patchy frost in 92er wood and bedford and if you're worried about those sensitive plants, bring them in and cover them up. more likely to see the widespread fost and that is up for tomorrow morning and expect that to happen for monday morning as well and in for very chilly temperatures for the next couple of nights with mid to upper 30s not out of the question. 48 to the city of boston and 41

tomorrow morning you'll certainly need that extra extra layer and perhaps into the afternoon as it's breezy and also very cool and crisp for us again. i think a couple of degrees cooler than the highs were today and mid60s really across the board and low 60s for cape cod. maybe it inspires you to do some apple picking early in the season. but i still think you can get great apples out of that. the next chance of rain far out to the west and high elevation ? snow to th into the intermountain region and seeing snow out of iowa this evening. that front will make its way in our direction as we get into tuesday. still time to nail down the details on this and i think earlier in the day rather than late in the day and hoping for beneficial rainfall because we need it. and taking a look at that 7 on 7 forecast, it looks like temperatures staying cool through the next several days. really into next weekend. >> reporter: coming up next in 7 sports, the bay state

from there on out and the magic number is now down to 3 games. and now there's this from the fat chance department. pablo sandoval with the red sox this weekend and john farrell said before today's game he hasn't ruled out a return this season. sandoval had surgery on the shoulder back in may. he says he's well ahead of schedule at this point bruins are only 3 days into training camp, but they're bringing a new meaning to playing behind the b. they bit off with one of the top young players about to be docked and tearing ligaments in his left foot during off season training and scheduled for surgery at mass general on monday and sweeney saying the recovery time table is 3 months. playing 39 games with the bruins a year ago scoring 8 goals and 3 assists. he was a revelation down in providence averaging the goal
