searched his house and seized several items including a sim card also a letter. all hours before he arrived here in boston. >> this is nathan carmen. >> nathan this is united states coast guard boston. >> reporter: now we're hearing the call between nathan carmen and the coast guard. a week after the 22-year-old went missing with his mother 54-year-old linda the 2 left road island on a fishing trip. >> some people myself and my mom were fishing block canyon and the -- there was a funny noise in the engine compartment. i looked and saw a lot of water. >> reporter: carmen tells the coast guard he heard a funny sound in the engine area aboard their aluminum boat. >> i brought the safety stuff

bags forward dropped out from under my feet. >> reporter: carmen grabbed food and water and got on the life raft. sunday the freighter located carmen. the search for his mother suspended. carmen spent hours at the coast guard in boston in a face to face briefing. something that is protocol when a boat sinks at >> i got to the life raft when i got my barings. i was whistling and calling around and i didn't see her. >> reporter: according to those court document its appears that police are now focussed on the sea worthiness of carmen's boat. they're also focussed on his mother who thought that boat trip was going to be 20 miles not 100 miles. steve cooper 7 news. ; 7 news now focusing on your forecast.

weight off my chest 100 pounds. >> reporter: rod matthews will stay behind bars for 5 years before he iseligible for parole again. >> anchor: the third suspect in a shooting at a stoughton cvs is called to court. marcus pierre lieues on $25,000 bail. police say pierre lewis was involved in a shooting stoughton cvs last week. lewis was arrested last night in dorchester. 2 other suspects are also in custody. investigators say a man in his 40s was shot in the area of center street before 1:00 this morning. boston police say anyone with information should call the homicide unit.

people out there. >> reporter: the fire still ering was discovered by a passer by later sunday morning. the dumpster where residents bring recycled items was charred. the surveillance video shows the individuals walking around the play ground before the fires were set. it shows them running away from the play ground after ward. it looks like 8 or 9 individuals were involved. atea police are releasing the video hoping that someone recognizes the individuals and comes forward. >> they damaged the play ground in a way that made it difficult for our kids to enjoy it. >> reporter: are you glad police are putting surveillance video out there hoping to catch the vandals? >> i'm sure they'll take care of it. find whoever did it. >> reporter: they're asking anyone with information to give them a call.

with a lot of clouds patches of light rain and drizzle. so a good idea to have the rain gear. you might not need it that much. it won't be that heavy significant rain. that rain that moisture that wafts through the air thanks to that northeast win. the gray all over the place those are the clouds in a couple of green blobs focussed along the coastline. the coastal locations have better chances of patches of now as we work toward the end of the week this area of low pressure which will be out there the next couple of days through kentucky and west virginia it slowly begins to move close torp new england. in doing so the chance of rain will go up more so on friday afternoon and into the weekend. saturday will feature on and off rain. you notice also the next several days the temps don't move that much from day to night.
