carman briefly. he didn't want to talk but there are questions about what happened at sea and what police took here from his home. >> guys, my mother just died. i'm trying to process that. can you please get out of my way? >> reporter: he was once a suspect in the murder of his grandfather. now there's even more controversy surrounding 22-year-old nathan carman after he went on a fishing trip with his 54-year-old mother lindaut presumed dead. while on the trip his boat took on water and sank off the coast of block island. last night we spoke nathan after he got home after spending a week alone on a life raft. >> i would like to thank the public for their prayers and for their concern for both my mother and for myself. and i would like to thank the crew of the ship that rescued me, both for rescuing me and for treating me very well.

according to the warrant, carman did many repairs to his boat and might have left the boat unsafe for operation. and three years ago nathan was considered a suspect in the death of a grandfather who was shot in a home in connecticut cut. police thought he did it but there were no witnesses. prosecutors didn't charge him. >> the past was the past. i wish the press would leave it alone because he was not involved with his grandfather, with his father. it wase >> reporter: carman's father says his son is a victim who needs support, not punishment. >> reporter: very difficult situation. none of us really know what he went through. >> reporter: we reached out to nathan car man again tonight after running into him but he wasn't available. >> and the night team now turns to your chilly forecast, relatively speaking. w'll get more of the same tomorrow. cooler temperatures, clouds,

the alleged victim came forward in june. >> a football coach bunched. his office received allegations of verbal misconduct. the district is placing them seriously. his lawyer says they haven't been given details about the allegations. >> and there's more news tonight. police are piecing togr oflthss say a teenager apparently killed his father before heading to an elementary school and opening fire there. two children and a teacher were shot. one boy is in critical condition. the teenager was taken into custody immediately after the shooting. >> the fbi thinks it has identified two witnesses. authorities say they have identified these two men seen taking a suitcase.

it's a little closer to the east coast on, i do think there will be rain shower activity friday evening but most of it should hold off until after midnight friday 23450i9 and through the day on saturday. but the storm begins to weaken and fall apart. so in terms of any beneficial rain for the drought, not in the cards. clouds, yes. a few isolated showers but no significant rain out of that weather system. and what that weather system will do is lock down the cool air. temps only in the upper 50s to low 60s. >> updating in weymouth let's get to kelly live with the story. >> reporter: out of a very intense crime scene that has been here on the side of route 18 all night long. what we can tell you is that a woman called 911 stranded on the side of the highway, deep in these woods, asking for help. police have not exactly given us a full description of exactly what happened. we know that that state police crime scene investigators, along

several hours combing these woods. we are told that that woman was taken to the hospital. her condition unknown. so back out here live on the side of route 18 and route 3 we know that a woman called 911 begging for help, asking police for help. they found her stranded in the woods. the details are still unclear but you can be clear we're going to work it of course online the first thing in the morning as soon as we get it.
