>> anchor: first here at 4:30 we're follow breaking news out of gloucester. major has fired the city's police chief following an te administrative leave back in september. mate i don't remember says he erased information on a cell phone during that investigation and intentionally misled investigators. now the attorney for chief campanello released a statement that says in part this investigation has been a witch-hunt from the beginning and the reasons given by the city for terminating the contract had nothing to do with the original inquiry. they were condug there. the chief intends to hold the city of gloucester to its contractual obligations despite the fact throughout this process

care about his contractual rights. >> anchor: also today a man called to court. police say he hit a state trooper with his motorcycle outsight of gillette stadium and they say it all happened after yesterday's patriots game. >> anchor: the trooper was rushed to the hospital with some serious injuries. tim caputo live in the newsroom with more on what happened in court today. the prosecutors say this us p was driving dangerously on the very busy route 1 stretch of road long before that state trooper was even hit. that state police with serious head injuries. 25-year-old jose perez rodriguez was arrested after that incident. he is charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle. prosecutors and witnesses say he was racing at high speeds with another man on a motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic on route 1. an mbta police officer noticed those bikes racing and reported it to other police officers who eventually so you that suspect revving his engines. officers approached them, pulled him over and that is when they

and into oncoming traffic. the trooper then approach the motorcycles. while they were approaching them they comments on whether mo orists stopped in traffic thanking troopers for approaching the motorcycles in reference to the continual revving. when they were approving the motorcycles and motioned for them to pull out of the left-hand lane into break down lane so they could speak with them the mail administrator began to pull his motorcycle into the break as this motorcycle pulled off to the sides, the trooper observed the defendant making the turn and quickly accelerate. after acracing the mo or cycle began thatting southbound and northbound travel lanes. >> anchor: we're told the trooper is is a captain with state police and while they did stay at the hospital overnight because of head injuries he is expected to be okay. live in the newsroom, tim caputo 7 news. >> anchor: a serious car crash in rhode island under investigation. police found that car you can see is just wrapped around a

behind the wheel a pregnant woman thanks to some kind of miracle she manages to walk away without any serious injuries. nicole oliverio reports. a wild ride ends with the mangled crashed car wrapped around a tree. it looked like somebody planted the tree in the car. >> reporter: rhode island fire fighters fearing the worst when they arrived on scene. the passenger side of that car was just literally folded right around the tree. you couldn't see the trunk of the tree at all. >> reporter: despite the damage, the broken nose and fire fighters say she wasn't exact lealone in the car. she was also 15 weeks pregnant and everything was fine. it was amazing. >> reporter: rescuers say the expectant mother hydroplaned, smashed into a jersey barrier then spun out taking out a steel utility pole, sliding down an embankment then slammed into this tree. fortunately she was wearing her

kicking and hitting a california highway patrol car in fresno. now police have made several arrests since then and now they say they are going to crack down on the dangerous sideshows that started it all. dash cam individual shows the scene unfold as a highway patrol officer drives up on a crowd of about 80 people who police say were catching sideshows. the officer wants up doing do nuts and tries to get the driver to turn off the car. but the driver takes off. the officer gets black moo his car and that's when it turns violent. >> reporter: the officers struggles to get away as his doors are kicked and car windows

camera, scary sight in new mexico, one hot air balloons come crashing down right on top of some to power lines. the scene playing out as someone recorded the entire thing and crash not only put people in the balloon at risk but knocked out power to the entire area. sara french has much more. this cell phone video shows the moment this balloon hit power lines in new mexico sunday morning. you can see crews on the e the balloon was draped over the power lines, two people were hurt. i saw the balloon hang off the wire. that man saw another balloon land on power lines on the highway not long after the first incident. fire officials say a woman was injured in that crash but it's unclear how serious her injuries are. we had a reported injury that somebody got bushed maybe by the tank itself. >> anchor: you can see the outside of the basket. crews arrived and say they had

electrical lines to restore power to the surrounding area. the faa is leading the investigation. and new mexico state police also helping. there is no wore yet on how serious the injuries are. for the victims of the first balloon crash. in the newsroom, i'm sara french 7 news. >> anchor: also on 7, a tree yearly boy in wise ton sin found safe and sound. he was lost in a corn field for nearly 24 hours. more than 400 volunteers helping to search for this saturday afternoon.. hundreds of volunteers, hours of searching, acres upon acres of corn fields. it was like finding a needle in a haystack. and almost a full day after the boy went missing the search was over. he is drinking water, he is eating, she doing okay.. it took two and a half, three hours looking in the field and we stumbled upon him. >> reporter: the plan who found him said after spending
