how about the return of the sunshine for us today? nights to break out of that gloom we had hanging around with us and i think for the rest of the week we get more sunshine to enjoy for us. watching matthew of course but if we get any impact or we feel any of matthew's effects it won't be until next weekend. we'll cover that in more detail. how about current temperatures still holding on to 70. fitchburg, nashua, 62 in boston, 65 norwood right now. warmed up today about the warmest temperatures that we've seen in almost a week so it nice to break out of it all. now we do have some showers that are moving through but they are mainly this central and western mass and we want to take a close are look at some of the cells and vet them. not any lightning showing up with this at this point in the outer route 2 corridor but these cells are popping up and they can drop a lot of rain. i saw a report of one and 3/4 of an inch that fell in warren with just one of those cells that passed through the area. i think if you are inside of 495
5:48 pm
this activity through the overnight hours. that line kind of sliding to the west of us and then into tomorrow we do have to deal with the on shore flow bringing in the clouds, bringing in the mist and drizzle. could be a light shower from time to time. now don't let that get you down because as we get into tuesday afternoon we get the sunshine back with us and as i mention before we keep it around for the better part of the work week. mostly cloudy overnight tonight, patchy fog, 50 to 54 so temperatures not all that cold and then into tomorrow it's a little cooler than it w afternoon to get the sunshine back in here after some early morning fog and drizzle. highs tomorrow as i mentioned just a touch cooler than where we were today in the upper 50's worcester and then into the lower 60's with that on shore wind keeping things cool. it's not a wind, more of a breeze. northeasterly breeze ten to 5 miles per hour at times especially along the coastline. headed to the fair all this week into the weekend looking really good especially as we get into the middle of the week,
5:49 pm
sunshine, warming temperatures, even into the mid 70's and as i mentioned before, if we feel any effects from hurricane matthew it won't be until next weekend. here is where the storm is right now. not moving very quickly, tracking north at about 7 miles per hour. winds 140 miles per hour. it is still a category four storm and if you remember last friday it was a category five hurricane at a point. the strongest we had in the atlantic basin since 2070. that was hurricane felix. now pass cuba as we get into tuesday, then into the bahamas by wednesday, thursday even this is a slow moving storm as i mentioned and then it starts to gape momentum. as it travels north it will encounter cooler ocean water and also more sheer but not a whole lot of land to tear it aare the part so unfortunately there is not a lot that's acting against this storm to get it to weaken. so we're still the a category three which is a major hurricane by the time we make it into the earned of the week at least
5:50 pm
hurricane center and it is looking more likely at least with this more recent update to impact the coastline of the southeastern united states. so we're going to have to tick a very close eye to this storm throughout the next few days, past four or five days out though things become very unclear and you can see how all of these different forecast models we call it a spaghetti getty plot just die like noodles and a lot of them are taking it it out to sea and a some of them are bringing rr timing on that won't be until next weekend. it's a couple hands in a whole deck of cards but it will clear itself up i guess as woe get into later this week. see you in a bit. >> anchor: the boss helps a little boy out of trouble that boy skipped school to see a bruce springsteen concert. >> anchor: the singer went the extra mile trying to make sure he didn't get sent to the principal's office. the boy shared his story with reporter sara small. still alive, okay.
