there, we do have a hurricane watch for the east coast of florida and a tropical storm watch rounding from miami south out to the keys because we do anticipate that matthew will continue moving north-northwest through the bahamas over the next 2-3 days. this is the brand new forecast track from the hurricane center. moving through the bahamas as a category 4 storm with wind up around 130 miles an hour. then this has been shifted a little closer now to the florida coastline. friday at 2:00 pm w 115, a major hurricane, category 3 hurricane down from the 4 but considered major hurricane. then it does begin to move northeast just south of wilmington, north carolina, sometime saturday afternoon. this is from the hurricane center again they still do believe perhaps we're talking about a category one hurricane south of nantucket. sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm with winds at 80 miles an hour, you notice the gray shading here including the city of boston, that is the cone of uncertainty meaning that five days away it's

so it may end up in albany new york, and it may end up farther south away from new england. both positions would be considered an accurate forecast. we have a cool front raising across the northern tier of the united states and behind that a large area of high pressure. some of the models are advertising be a eastward shift and even a southward shift. this is the american model, the yellow line indicating well out to that would be about it. then the european model which is a vastly superior model especially when handling tropical systems that loops back south to florida. so from north carolina north all weekend up into new england it's nothing but sunshine. very difficult probably. won't have a bert handle on in until thursday. we'll talk more about that potential and the rest of the forecast in a few minutes. >> kim: look forward to that. we can tell i that the storm

across the caribbean rising waters turning roads to river. haiti is trying to recover from the earthquake that hit six years ago. a storm of this magnitude could have a lasting impact. john cuoco continuing the coverage from our control room. john. >> reporter: this is the strongest hurricane to hit haiti since 1964 battering the beaches with downpours, flooding and high winds. hurricane matthew made land fall tuesday morning as a category 4 storm. winds miles an hour. strongestland atlantic hurricane in nearly a decade. now up to 40 inches of rain could fall and could trigger deadly muddslides. the government has been warning people especially in mountain areas to head to emergency shelters but many have not done so. other nations are preparing for the worst. at signs of matthew crash ashore. >> we got water.

that is all fueled up and the vehicle is fueled up and leave the rest to the good man. >> people getting their gas and getting their fuel -- grocery shopping to get the food. >> reporter: it's forecasted path is headed for the u.s. >> hurricane matthew is a category 4 storm. it's deadly. we cannot take the storm liedly. >> reporter: in florida the governor is urging people along the i-9 5 car dorr from the keys -- jacksonville to prepare now. >> if you think you are going to need to evacuate, do it today. >> reporter: president obama cancelled events there and fema is prepositioning resources there now readingy for the storm. >> we're preparing for worst hoping for the best and we're not going to take any chances. >> ryan: coming up at 6:00 we'll speak with people here in the boston area. worried about friends and loved ones in haiti. john cuoco 7 news.

j.r.continues to track hurricane mathsu. s also on the website get the latest. we're following breaking news right now from lawrence. lawrence police are investigating a murder this evening. it happened around 3:00 on boxford street. a man suffered a single gunshot wound. he was rushed to the hospital. he died. police haven't made arrests but we're covering the story and will bring you more this evening on 7:00. >> reporter: search crews wellesley. steve cooper has more. >> reporter: the body was just pulled from morse's pond. you look behind us and you can see wesley firefighters are still on the scene. they're pulling some of the boats out of the water even as we speak. investigators are telling us the man was a landscaper and apparently he decided earlier this afternoon to take a canoe ride when something wept wrong here.

>> it's scary. >> reporter: a short time ago divers recovered the body of a man hours after his canoe overturned. >> landscaper working here on college road, took a canoe out on to the water. and around 1:00 pm. >> reporter: police say the man in his late 20's early 30s was alone and wasn't wearing a life jacket. other members of the crew realized he was in trouble and called 911. >> one of our plains clothes officers along with another officer an attempt to begin a search until fire department personnel were able to respond. >> reporter: with the help of the state police air wing unit several teams scoured the pond trying to locate the victim. >> it's murky and there is lots of weeds. the weeds grow maybe 4 or 5 feet thick. so that is a big problem if you sink down into this. >> reporter: investigators intervied other members of

out why the landscaper took the canoe out in the first place. >> very tragic situation. very sad. you hate to see this thing happen. >> reporter: divers coming out of the water right now after the recovery was made. a short time ago police are not releasing the victim's name. they won't release it until his relatives have been notified. there is no foul play suspected here but we're told the investigation is g.o.p. ongoing. steve cooper, the white house donald trump meeting with energy executives in denver. trump says his energy plan promises u.s. independent from foreign oil by drilling more and regulating less. hillary clinton is in pennsylvania for a town hall in the philadelphia area. family focused event included an appearance from daughter chelsea along with elizabeth banks. >> ryan: tonight a showdown. this will be the first and

first responders started evacuating. >> kim: crews managed to get everyone out before the buildings observation plowed. appear investigation is under way. just before an explosion leveled these two new jersey homes, investigators say they got a call around 9:00 this morning reporting a gas leak. minutes later first responders show up. >> when we got on scene they knew that it wasn't, this could happen at any point. you don't know what it's going to happen and are we quickly as possible. there is no indicator that it's going to happen at time time frame. >> reporter: the aftermath shown of the explosion, a third house damaged. it'll need to be continue down. more than a dozen other peoples affected. nearly 40 people left without a place to stay. no one is badly hurt as a result but authorities say ten firefighters are getting checked for possible ear damage and other minor

>> reporter: right now a mix of cloud and sunshine. in all honesty a nice stretch of weather the next self days which is good because we can focus on matthew. and you can enjoy the nice stretch perhaps matthew bothers up middle of the weekend. right now it does not look like it's going to be directly affecting our weather. we'll get into that in a second. unfortunately it is affecting them. this is a serious issue here. category 4 storm winds of 140 moving north at 9 miles an hour. so this is the 5:00 pm update from the hurricane center. this is their forecast track. the rid line indicating the certainty of the storm but

a line. it's a bowling ball. so on either side of the line you have the effects. moving through the bahamas as a category 4 storm, 130 miles an hour then east of daytona beach it makes land fall in florida but close to florida that we're talking a lot of rain and wind from. there it does curb north to south carolina and 2:00 pm with 100 miles an hour winds. at this point in the becomes challenging. i know i've said this before this summer with hermine. it's a similar setup. blocking high pressure looks like it's going to come out of the great lake states and move into new england. it may not allow matthew or its remnants to move up. the latest thinking has the redline away from north carolina but south of new england. the challenge is how strong that blocking area of high pressure is as well as a cool front.

yellow line indicating that it's offshore too far away to bother us with significant rain or wind. maybe some beneficial rain that comes along a cool front sunday morning. but even this yellow line shift aid way from north carolina since earlier in the day. the nuttest development is the europeon model which is a phenomenal model handling the tropics as it did with hurricane whack ween so it's hinting at a loop completely blocked of moving north because of this area of high pressure. it's within the reelum of possibility that new england walks out of this with nothing more than a gorgeous holiday weekend. right now, it's not too shabby. temperatures upper 50s, the city at 58. norwood at 59. tomorrow we start with a few clouds developing sunshine, cool morning but tomorrow afternoon and thursday and
