reloading in intensity overnight tonight and through the day tomorrow, hurricane warnings in affect for the bahamas as well as much of the east coast of florida, miami north, up through daytona beach and the north of there, it's a hurricane watch. on the other side of florida, it's a tropical storm watch, many that conditions are possible, tropical-storm force conditions are possible tampa and fort myers, but again the brunt of the storm will be in the east coast of florida. here's the latest track from the hurricane center. it does move through the bahamas late tonight through the day here, the 3s and 94s indicating the cat -- 3s and 4s, category strength. up to a 4 late tomorrow night and early friday morning as it does approach the east coast of florida, perhaps coming in near titusville, vero beach. right there will be the brunt of the storm along the 95 corridor just north of miami up toward daytona beach and jacksonville. from there it moves northeast, along the georgia and south carolina coastline, weakening somewhat, but still

south carolina, and this right here, again, if this is your first newscast in a few days, this is a looping back south. so it's never moving north of north carolina, it takes new england off the table in terms of bothering us this weekend. we will talk more about your holiday weekend forecast in a few minutes. >> well, people in florida are stocking up on supplies, their governor told them to have at least three days of food and water on hand. matthew, a very deadly storm already that could blow ashore here in the next couple of days. brandon gunnoe has more on that and a look at the damage the the caribbean. >> hate me has been pummeled, more than 10,000 people have been forced from their homes, and the number of those killed in this monster storm continues to rise. >> reporter: it's been called a total disaster in southern haiti. homes destroyed, at least five dead, 11 total in the caribbean. roads cut off from the rest of the country. and as bad as this is, matthew isn't done yet. the bahamas are next in the monster storm's path, florida's governor says there are less than 24 hours to prepare for a direct hit.

sought a gonzalez dorchester are the ones that tried to sell guns to undercover officers. police say when they showed the men the badges, cologne is the one they say started shooting. rasato took off, leading to a massive manhunt throughout roslindale yesterday. but police caught up with him last night. an officer had to be taken to the hospital after the shoot-out. minor injuries there, and now both of those men face several charges. a car apartment early this morning. it happened on the north -- on northshore road, just before 1:30. the driver and four people in the building had to go to the hospital with the cause of the crash under investigation. now to the patriots. tom brady's back on the practice field for the first time since the end ofs had deflate-gate suspension and the team is ready to put all that behind them. >> getting ready to take on the cleveland browns this weekend. we have team 7 coverage of the patriots. let's get started with 7sports

of. it's a medical miracle for a war hero. thanks to science and technology, this retired marine sergeant is getting a new start. 31 years old, his name is john peck, he lost his arms and his legs in 2010.

use of the new arms will tampa bay time. at a press conference john had a chance to thank the doctors and a special message for the family of the donor. >> your loved one's death will not be for nothing. every day that i look down at our new arms, i will draw a bond through the pain and i will never give up. i will remember his selflessness and his gift till the day i die. >> reporter: and he's newly engaged. three weeks ago john proposed to his girlfriend jessica here at boston at the new england aquarium. penguins are so he surprised had her and popped the question right in the middle of the penguin exhibit. jessica says one of the things she loves most about john is his attitude. >> he's always positive. he makes it very easy. a lot of people may think it's hard but he makes it very easy to be around and to go through this with. >> reporter: john says he's enjoying the discovery of new sensation such as holding jessica's hand. at first he didn't feel anything, but it's improving. >> now i can feel deep pressure, so she kind of has to squeeze a little bit harder, like you're

a few isolated showers possible saturday evening. hurricane matthew no threat to new england, but a serious threat to the bawmentz later on tonight through the day tomorrow, and then florida tomorrow night, here's the forecast track from the hurricane center, likely to intensify late tonight through the day tomorrow. back to a category iv storm. 130 mile-an-hour winds. looks like perhaps very close to vero beach, titusville, basically along the 95 corridor, late tomorrow night through tomorrow night, will be a tough devastation with this tra right here. then as it moves north through georgia and south carolina, still a category ii storm through charles, south carolina and bends back south away perhaps it goes all the way around and comes through florida a second time. certainly we do know that the bahamas tonight and florida tomorrow night and through the day on friday. for us here in new england high pressure setting up a good chunk of weather here the next few

worcester at 60 degrees with partly cloudy skies. still a lot of lingering clouds down in the cape and islands but they will break apart and we have dry air to sweep into the rest of new england and out on the cape and southshore tonight. temps in the upper 30s to upper 40s for your morning commute, and also like today, tomorrow we are back into the sunshine. it is a pleasant day. temps 66 to 72. the southshore, city of boston, mid- and upper 60s, north of town, upper 60s, mid-60s on cape ann, upper 60s to the low 70s worcester hills, lower 70s. fitchburg at 74. out on to the cape, you'll have more sun tomorrow. mashby at 65. a pleasant day, a little warmer on friday. temps on friday in the low 70s, and out on the holiday weekend, high pressure we're going to start saturday morning with sunshine. clouds take over saturday night and only a few showers saturday night with this cool front. and some of this moisture along the cool front actually being dragged out of the hurricane. >> here's the hurricane right here, again, southeast of wilmington, north carolina.
