>> sarah: we begin at noon with breaking news. the f.b.i. investigating a deadly plane crash in east hartford, connecticut. >> there are rts so far, investigators are not confirming that information. one person was killed in the crash. >> kris: according to a "new york times" report, the pilot told investigators this was not an accident. victoria warren is live at the scene with the very latest. we heard from some officials there. >> reporter: that's right, kris. we heard from the east hartford police department. they are very clear they were not going to be confirming what the "new york times" is reporting.

ones who invite in the f.b.i. this crash was dangerously close to a national defense manufacturer. a fiery plane crash in east hartford, connecticut. but now a question about whether this was an accident or deliberate. >> no situation is being ruled out. no circumstances are being ruled out. >> reporter: the "new york times" reporting the surviving pilot told investigators this was no accident. now the feds are involved. >> the f.b.i. was called by us infrastructure surrounding the area. >> we are located next-door to pratt & whitney which is obviously involved in the aerospace industry and things of that nature. report tt crash in the shadow of the defense manufacturer described as critical infrastructure. it wasn't damaged. s if unclear who was in control of the plane. the surviving pilot or the student who didn't make it out alive. >> being a twin-engine aircraft, there is two controllers in such a plane. and either one of the two

as to who was specifically at the controls at the time of impact, i do not have that. >> reporter: the crash survivor was brought to the hospital with burns on his body. police say he is expected to be okay. and he is speaking with the f.b.i. live from east hartford, victoria warren, 7 news. >> sarah: thank you very much. also breaking at this hour. a police chase through several towns coming to an end in randolph. sky 7 over the scene there. jonathan hall is live at randolph police station with the very latest. >> reporter: we just spoke to the police chief here. and we are getting a bit of information. they have a man named james joyce under arrest. he is from halifax, apparently. he may have taken fast car... take an car that he wasn't supposed to use and then took off in it. there was a police chase that ensued. this went through the towns of brockton, halifax and here in randolph. ended with a crash on route 28 with this guy losing a wheel

the car spun out and made contact with a randolph police cruiser who does have some minor damage to the front push bar. james joyce is being treated at a local hospital. apparently no, one else injured. after this pretty crazy chase. at times, reaching moderate speeds. the speeds in randolph were not high, they say. once again, a young man in his 30's named james joyce under arrest. after smashing up his chevy. we are live in randolph, jonathan hall, 7 news. >> kris: a man accused in an attack in the south end appearing in court today. this man climbed through a window and then attacked her and her roommate. nicole oliverio is in boston with the very latest. nicole? >> reporter: well, we can tell you police were able to make such a quick arrest because that suspect allegedly left a medication bottle inside the bedroom of one of the victims. two women tied up. one of them raped. when police say a complete stranger broke into their south end apartment klining in

ronald brown faced charges of home invase, kidnapping and rape. >> charged with breaking into an apartment where two people were. tied both of them up. raped one of them. f >> reporter: brown listened to the charges with his face covered for identification issues. police say the disturbing assault happened tuesday morning around 4:00 in the south end on clarendon street near columbus avenue. chang liu lives in the building where the attacked happened and saw investigators collecting e door. the detective came and talked to me. i told them basically, i didn't hear anything. >> reporter: police found out about the crime nearly 12 hours later. one of the victims was at a nearby hospital. officers arrested brown just before 3:00 this morning. in court, there were few details about what happened, but prosecutors called it an attempted burglary. >> i'm glad the police worked so quickly. they were able to get this guy off the streets.

on-shore wind. the winds are nice and calm fbs. they will stay that way throughout the day today. tomorrow, here are those changes i was talking about, though. more cloud cover. the clouds are going to increase after midnight tonight. and then tomorrow morning, we have the chance to see some drizzle for some of you tomorrow morning. and then we will watch a front pass over late tomorrow evening. tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. that could bring some showers with it. temperatures are going to be warmer. it won't be as pretty of a day. and then the pattern will get back to sunshine on friday. up. back to you guys. >> nancy: two suspects in a virginia court today. joshua hart and his girlfriend britney smith were arrested over the weekend. they are facing murder charges. they are now expected to be arraigned in orange district court on friday. 95-year-old thomas hardy was murdered during a home invasion last week. his wife, 77-year-old joanna fisher was severely injured in the attack.

the deadly attack. police are also looking for the man suspected in an attempted sexual assault in mission hill. the man seen in the surveillance footage tried to sexually assault woman near fitzgerald park in roxbury saturday afternoon. according to police, the man pushed the woman to the frowned before he ran away. >> kris: a high-speed police chase ending with an arrest on i-93 in manchester last night. police say this driver, was speeding through a construction zone in londonderry hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. and he was in a stolen truck. police used spike strips to stop that vehicle. the truck's tire debris scattered all across the road during the chase. and the rim sparks caused several small brush fires. the truck then crashed into the median. he is being held in the merrimack house of corrections. >> nancy: police in medford are looking for the driver who killed a pedestrian in a hit-and-run. this happened in wellington circle back in september.

the wind not blowing too hard. and it is beautiful out. >> nancy: i know. this time of year makes me feel a little bit sad. i know that winter is right around the corner. i'm always thinking ahead. but today, this whole week, actually, this makes me appreciate fall. >> danielle: no. we don't think about that yet. live in the present. enjoy it. 60 outside right now. it is picture-perfect. it was yesterday, too. we will continue that pattern into today. dew points in the upper 40's. those winds are on-shore. because of that, temperatures cooler today. 24-hour temperature change. not huge. if anything, a little bit warmer today. if you like yesterday, you may even like today. a little bit more. so in october, september, october, my brain is going crazy there. average temperatures have been a little bit below where we should be. by the end of the month, average high temperatures are in the upper 50's. we are warmer than that today. by the weekend, we will actually be there. lots of sunshine out there for your wednesday. we had some high clouds over us this morning.

morning temperatures more mild than they were yesterday. we had some changes on the way. lots of sunshine today. heading into the overnight hours, we will start to see the cloud cover increase. then tomorrow morning, a good chance many of you waking up to the low clouds and fog, even some spotty drizzle around the area. as we head into tomorrow evening, right around dinnertime, we will watch this front. that could bring some light showers with it as well. but then that moves out of here. as we head int is cool air behind that front. so it will start to feel cooler out there. but the sunshine returns. and it stays with us as we head into the weekend. so good news there. still watching hurricane nicole. still a category two hurricane. and it is expected to impact we are hue da tomorrow. won't have any impact on us. hurricane warnings in effect for bermuda and then heading into the weekend, the storm will move off to the northeast and out to sea. after tomorrow, our forecast

inboro, an unsupervised child wandered out the door. in bridgewater, allegations of child rape. in dorchester, a two-year-old falls off the roof and dies. when she searched on-line for official inspection info, she found nothing. >> i feel like i was completely in the dark. >> reporter: unlike new hampshire, connecticut, and maine, massachusetts does not provide day care inspection records on-line. experts say in these days of instant access looking for day care history should not be hitting information road-blocks. >> there is something broken in the system. >> reporter: how broken? the state's early education and care web site instructs parents to call the eec regional licensing office for your area. so we did. >> just like a parent. . >> do you have day care inspection reports? >> making inquiries about eight different day cares. three times we were properly given inspection history. >> great. thank you.

the best chance tomorrow afternoon. excuse me. tomorrow morning. then tomorrow evening, as a cold front moves overhead. nonetheless, these showers aren't going to amount to much. not going to put a dent in the drought. as we head into friday and saturday, high pressure is back with us. and the sunshine returns. temperatures a little cooler, though, in the upper 50's. more on the forecast coming up. >> nancy: danielle, thank you. more news today: a deadly crash in natick late last night on speen street. you see the front of the car just smashed in. police the victim from the car and performed cpr before first responders arrived. the man however, was pronounced dead at the hospital. driver of the other car was not injured, though. a rhode island radio station lucky to be on the air this morning. after a driver crashed right through the side of the station. the driver was seriously injured in the crash at news talk radio 1380 in woonsocket. the building was heavily damaged. the station's operations were not interrupted. the driver with a close call in sterling.

through the windshield of the car. the driver was able to walk away with only minor injuries. the police department posting these pictures on facebook yesterday. they say that branch fell just a few more inches to the left, it could have been a much different outcome. >> kris: very lucky. more than a hundred people calling for change. a vigil in porter square for a cyclist who was killed in cambridge. people left candles and flowers around a white bicycle placed where the deadly crash happened last week. from lexington died when he was hit by a track or the-trailer in porter square last wednesday. no charges have been filed. >> nancy: police in dartmouth addressing the recent clown craze sweeping the country. officers say it is no laughing matter. >> hey, you the clown that was scaring the kids back there? >> maybe i was! maybe i wasn't! what are you going to do about it? what are you going to do about it? tough guy. huh?

clown threats and photos. in detroit, a clown was caught clinging to the back of a bus. and an 11-year-old in minnesota says he was chaseled by a clown carrying a butcher knife. three teens were picked up there. >> don't get caught up in this craze with this clown stuff. >> reporter: most of the sightings are copy-cat hoaxes, sigh costs say they are now treating anxiety in children of all ages as a result of them. in dartmouth, police put out this psa. >> remember, if you want to act like a clown, we have no problem treating you like one. >> reporter: a reminder that police are taking every incident seriously in a creepy clown craze that is out of control. i'm kim khazei, 7 news. >> kris: the clown hoaxes have led to dozens of arrests across the country. including two teenagers in massachusetts. >> nancy: the water, meantime, continues rise in north carolina. so does the death toll after hurricane matthew. the situation is far from over.

>> >> reporter: we are here in goldsboro, north carolina. the city is seeing historic flooding. worse than what they say from hurricane floyd back in 1999. now, the water you see behind me here, as far as the eye can see, this is north carolina street. about three feet of water. and this water is coming from the river which is about a mile f away. hundreds of homes have been evacuated. more than 200 waters rescues since saturday. another challenge that is making it difficult for first responders and emergency personnel. to get the help to places where they need it. governor mccrory has been giving daily updates to the media. here is what he had to say this morning. >> if you are anywhere around the three rivers, stay away from the water. whether you are walking or riding, in a car. do not get near the water. it will kill you.

had to leave their flooded homes, there is help. the american red cross has set up more than 60 shelters across eastern north carolina. sheltering 3,000 people. all of this water that is hitting goldsboro from the river. that will move downstream and there are several river communities that could see historic flooding from the aftermath of hurricane matthew. formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of two police officers in california. police say the 26-year-oldion felix shot and killed those officers. >>. jose vega and listens while responding to a domestic disturbance call. >> nancy: an autopsy of the man shot and killed by a police officer last month in tulsa shows he had drugs in his system when he died. the medical examiner say the man's blood tested positive

back to sunshine. just in time for the weekend. good timing there. current temperatures outside, most spots in the low to mid-60's. 60 in boston. 62 in plourt. 62 in beverly. those low 6's out along the cape as well. a pleasant afternoon. the winds are nice and calm. they are on-shore for the most part. that is why it is a little cooler along the coast today. temperatures inland, some will get close to 70 by this afternoon. here is a look at not much to see here. nothing but sunshine today. a lot like yesterday. but we will see those changes tomorrow. so throughout the day today, not much going to change. as i mentioned. but as we head into the overnight hours, midnight tonight, starting to see the cloud cover increase. then tomorrow morning, when you wake up, we will wake up to some patchy fog, low clouds. even some drizzle for some of you. the morning commute, a little icky for tomorrow. and throughout the day, it will stay mostly cloudy.

that we will watch. and this is when we could see the second chance to see some showers, some light showers still for tomorrow. by friday, though, you notice behind that front, we are clearing things out. and the air behind that front is actually cooler. we are going to cool down as well. high pressure staying over us friday into the weekend. and it is looking like a really pleasant weekend. any plans you do have for the weekend should shape up nicely. out in the atlantic, we are watching hurricane nicole. a category two hurricane: bermuda. this is where this hurricane will impact heading into tomorrow. because of the hurricane warnings are in effect. so it will move over bermuda. probably tomorrow morning as a category two storm before it tracks northeast and out to sea. heading into the weekend, looking dry for saturday and friday as well and your sunday. today, 64-68.
