apparently me told investigators that he had a fight with a student pilot on this flight. the student pilot disgruntled bit pilot and says he was unable to keep him from bringing the plane down. it was a suicide, not terrorism but local police refuse to >> the circumstance is beyond it being determined if it was intentional. >> reporter: a student pilot died in the crash but the instructor survived. police acknowledge his statements help the investigator describe the crash was intentional. the mayor told me the instructor said the crash was no accident. >> that is what the detective i hear through the sources was told.

told that the pilot said there was no accident. >> reporter: that's correct. >> reporter: the small plane crash approached brain arrested airport and police say the fbi was brought in because it happened right outside the huge pratt and whitney plant which makes jet engines for commercial and military aircraft. police with the ntsb say the fbi continues to be involved despite the report that terrorism was not the cause. >> investigators tell me the body of the pilot has been taken away from the scene but the wreckage is still there. spoon to be taken away. we're live in hausle, 7news. and we understand there were people in a car that almost got his by the plane crashing on a highway. what do we know about the mom and the daughter in the vehicle at this hour, dan. >> a mother and three daughters ranging from 15 to 40 years old.

have any impact on the united states. let's get the latest on the storm's track, here's chief meteorologist jeremy reiner. >> a category ii storm. compo see that black dot right there, unfortunately that is the island of bermuda in the path of nicole, looks like it's going to pass right over the island sometime mid morning tomorrow into tomorrow afternoon, briefly up to a category 3 tonight. that would be a major hurricane but as it passes overnight island of bermuda, likely to be a category ii storm. winds around 100 miles per hour, and from there, looks like it's gonna head atlantic and encounter cold ocean water, which is essentially hurricane cryptonite, and it will fall apart. it's in new england with clouds and a few our showers. we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. a man offering a ride home

police say a ninth grade student was walking to school this morning and a nan in his early 30s driving a white van offered her a ride. when she refused, he drove away. police are investigating. a former new hampshire prep school student convicted of rape has a new legal team that is fighting for a new trial. owen lebri was convicted of sexual assault and using a computer to lure a minor. his new lawyer says emails to a 15-year-old student shouldn't have used as evidence because they never left the school's because of that the felony computer charge can't stand. a high-speed police chase ends in manchester. police say the driver was speeding through a construction zone in londonderry, going 95 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone with a stolen vehicle, and it was pulled over, the truck lost a tire. the rim separated from the truck. police say the bare rim sparked several small brush fires. we have new details on an officer ambush in california.

prosecutors have charged john hernandez felix with 2 counts of first-degree murder for the killing of two police officers. investigators say felix is the one who fired an assault rifle through the screen door of his home on saturday. he killed jose vega and this officer. they were answering a domestic disturbance call. there will be a memorial for those officers next week. >> the new york city bombing suspect will finally be arraigned. ahmad a maul hally wil hospital dead tomorrow. the charges he's facing include attempted murder of a police officer and he's facing federal terror charges connected to the september bombings in new york city and new jersey. dozens of people were hurt in the new york bombing. attorneys for paris bombing suspect announce they had will no longer defend him and he plans to envoab his right to silence and if he won't talk, they can't defend him.

the attacks last november in which 130 people were called. azzam was captured in brussels in march and in solitary confinement near paris. rising water still a major concern in north carolina. at least 19 people have been killed by the flooding following hurricane matthew and now more water is expected. >> i thought i was gonna die. >> as the water in north carolina rises threatening even more communities, rivers reaching historic levels, the governor is issuing warning. >> stay away from the water, whether you're walking or riding in a car. do not get near the water. it will kill you. >> the majority of u.s. deaths related to hurricane matthew have been in north carolina. 19 people so far killed there, nearly all of those due drowning in the subsequent floods. more flooding and even more areas of the state is now expected. >> i cannot emphasize to you more, there are a lot of people that are hurting. >> reporter: thousands have already been evacuated, their

officers using a stunt gun to stop a man who sped away from a robbery scene with police hot on his trail. >> he tries to get them by running across the highway. doesn't get far but an officer keeping him safe from harm. >> the chase started at the kohl's department store in garland texas where police say two men tried to take off with a bundle of clothing worth nearly and the other taking off in his truck leading police on a hey speed chase along the highway. at one point going the wrong way. at speeds close to 90 miles per hour. from the moment i looked down the street, i knew it was a car chase. >> when the man's truck died, he jumped out risking his own life. >> i'm surprised he didn't get ran over on the highway. he actually made in over to the other side of the house. >> i was in shock. like this is a busy highway

cape and islands in the coming days and weeks. high pressure has been with us the last couple of days. this is our next weather system. it is a cool front generating clouds and a narrow stripe of some rainshowers. that's on the move. and that sweeps through new england tomorrow afternoon, more likely tomorrow night. so for tonight, clouds on the increase. not as cold with those clouds. lows between 46 and 52. tomorrow will feature a lot of clouds. i do think there will be pockets midday sun and afternoon sunshine but still predominately cloudy tomorro so in spilt of the clouds it's still made, 64, 69. with a chance of a few showers late in the day with a cool front. tomorrow morning because we'll have a southerly flow coming off the ocean, there will be a lot of clouds during the morning commute and may be a couple of pockets of drizzle and mist. i don't think anything more than that, and i think after 9:00 a.m., that threat fades away. in fact, i notice the holes in the overcast here around 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. that's the sunshine with the clouds. here comes the cool front tomorrow afternoon.

chase across several towns and he wasn't going down quietly. a florida couple face charges after they were found passed in and out their car, their children in the backseat. massachusetts looking at legalizing recreational marijuana. what need to know before voting in november. a bad call, a 911 dispatcher admits to hanging up on callers and is now facing charges. we are following breaking news, first here at 5:30, ntsb officials say yesterday's deadly plane crash in connecticut was investigators say the student pilot on board was killed in the crash and the instructor survived. the associated press is reporting a source says the crash was a suicide but police say they're still investigating what led up to that crash. also on 7, sky 7 hd over the scene in randolph as a police pursuit comes to an end on the side of the road right there. police say the driver sped through several towns before they were able to catch up with them. >> and an investigator said hes

during his arrest. jonathan hall has more. >> it was a relatively slow police pursuit through seven towns that ended in randolph. >> it was about something from the movies. >> reporter: police say 41-year-old james joyce led them through halifax to east bridgewater, hanson, whitman, brockton, holbrooke and randolph where he ended up losing control of his mom's car. >> the person in the vehicle lost a tire and he did make cat with the police cruiser. >> much damage to your cruiser? >> no, very little. actually the cruiser is still out on patrol. he made it to the little brick wall right here and then they all tackled him. >> reporter: police gave this condo complex as joyce's address. joyce's mom lives here. she didn't want to talk on camera but i did speak with her. she says her son took the car without her permission and she called the police. >> reporter: after a brief hospital stay, joyce is headed to court, charges could include driving to endanger, auto theft and assault and battery on a police officer. >> it might have been some pushing and shoving at the end. that's typical.
