during his arrest. jonathan hall has more. >> it was a relatively slow police pursuit through seven towns that ended in randolph. >> it was about something from the movies. >> reporter: police say 41-year-old james joyce led them through halifax to east bridgewater, hanson, whitman, brockton, holbrooke and randolph where he ended up losing control of his mom's car. >> the person in the vehicle lost a tire and he did make cat with the police cruiser. >> much damage to your cruiser? >> no, very little. actually the cruiser is still out on patrol. he made it to the little brick wall right here and then they all tackled him. >> reporter: police gave this condo complex as joyce's address. joyce's mom lives here. she didn't want to talk on camera but i did speak with her. she says her son took the car without her permission and she called the police. >> reporter: after a brief hospital stay, joyce is headed to court, charges could include driving to endanger, auto theft and assault and battery on a police officer. >> it might have been some pushing and shoving at the end. that's typical.

seventh avenue, and in a moving lane of traffic. i mean, as you can see behind me, hundreds of cars go through this avenue on a daily basis, and they were just passed out like they were at home sleeping. >> reporter: police say the initial call came in as a possible drug overdose, but it's unclear if that's exactly what happened. paramedics did not administer any drug antidotes and no other medical treatment was given. the car was towed away and those two adults were taken into custody. >> it's a very sad case and it's something that we've been seeing a little frequently tgh to make sure that we don't see cases like this here in south florida. the couple now facing charges of child neglect. the woman also facing charges of illegally operating a vehicle. a close call for a driver in virginia. officials say a 50-pound metal rod flew off of a truck impaling this car's windshield, barely missing him. the driver not hurt. he pulled over to call police and then took these photos to show how close the 2 foot-long piece of metal came to him.

a california man is talking about a wild thing that happened to him. he says he was attacked by a bear, and he was released from the hospital less than 24 hours after he says he was attacked by that bear while he was out jogging. he says he encountered a bear and while he was backing away from it, that's when it attacked -- he was attacked by another one, he says. he was able to break free and run away, but not after suffering some gashes to his head and his body. >> it actually put its jaws around the back of all i could think of right then is, okay, the only chance i have is to just be as still as possible. >> after a few seconds, he says the bear just walked away. wildlife officials have searched the trail but have not found any bears. more than a dozen police officers in san antonio, texas are facing discipline after a video wearing donald trump hats. trump tweeted the video showing some of the officers who

now that former 911 operator is admitting to hanging up on multiple callers. her excuse, she says she didn't feel like talking. now she's facing criminal charges. imagine you're in a life or death situation but the 911 operator won't take your call. >> i heard actually at least 5, boom, boom, boom. last march lee was buying lottery tickets at a convenience store when a man with a gun tried to rob it. leean 911 but didn't get through. >> they said this is 911 how can i help you. and i was trying to finish my sentence and then -- you know, with he got disconnected. >> reporter: according to police, williams answered that call and hung up on lee. lee called the second time and got through to another operator but by the time the police arrived the store's own her been shot to death. >> 911 is not there for you, nobody's gonna help you. you're on your own. >> the next day williams allegedly hung up on another caller who was trying to report a couple of reckless drivers.
