ferocious firefight. take a look behind us tonight. you can see the area, the crime scene remains sealed off right now with police officers, standing watch. neighbors tonight still rattled by what they heard and what they saw. gunfire filling the street. cell phone video captures the frantic scene where neighbors say it was like a scene out of a movie here on gladstone street in east boston late last night. we have shots fired. i need every officer available. boston police responding to by a man saying his roommate was threatening him with a knifed. officers entering the house are shot by 33-year-old kirk figueroa who is armed with an assault rifle and wearing a bulletproof vest. insane. you only see this on "cops," shows like that. you don't think this is going to happen in your gliebd richard 16u cintolo and matt morris dragged to safe bry by officers

got to kind of care that they needed at mass general. boston's top cops including superintendent and chief william grasse visited the two officers. when he visit twd the families he spoke to one of the doctors who treated his men. >> he said, you're very fortunate that the patron saint of st. michael was looking down on these two officers. >> identified as matt morris and richard cintolo. and morris suffered the serious wound. officer morris was hit in one of his main arteries in his leg. the officers were quick to put their hands as well as apply a tourniquet which doctors later say probably saved his life. >> in boston this is another example of our police officers doing the right thing and doing their job. >> at least one of the officers had a blood transfusion, which apparently helped save his life. boston police do say they're going to work with the

make sure the word gets out that we need blood for donations. we're live in boston, jonathan hall, 7 news. we're learning more about the gunman who opened fire on officers. we know he was a boston constable and a former member of a u.s. army reserve military police unit. he claims on a web site that he spent time as a bounty hunter in california and a former corrections officer. he also said he was trained in mixed martial arts. we also know that he made some troubling posts on social media. let's she's uncovered. >> 7 news has learned he had an alias on social media where he posted dozens of videos on facebook that investigators say are now looking closely at. this is kokoa xengo, the man they say opened fire on boston police officers wednesday night. 7 news learned figueroa uses the

accounts including videos. they carried away a cop on a stretcher. >> figueroa was a wanna-be police officer interested in guns and knives. recently posted 16 videos of police-involved shootings of black men. that look lose ache bad dude, too. they don't believe figueroa targeted the officers. detectives are looking at his social media presence which they say at this . doesn't indicate he was radicalized or part of any movement. >> ion an issue where the officers were drawn to the scene with the sole purpose of attacking the officers. no, i think it was -- what it always is, a domestic call that is always unpredictable. >> adding to the confusion and mixed with photo and video on figueroa's facebook page, kim kardashian, qanye west, elvis presley and hail satan's

office is investigating. >> in the newsroom. >> so if this shooter was approved by the city to serve as a constable in boston sometimes referred to as a peace officer. dan hausle is digging deeper into the man's background gee we found out figueroa lied on his background and despite a background check by boston pd, he did have legal trouble out of when kirk figueroa's car was taken from the crime scene you can see it plastered with elite policing.org. the on-line connection leading you to the code blue protection company, listed as the company founder offering services from bail running to armored car training. records at city hall show a few months ago, figueroa was sworn in as a boston city constable, able to serve legal papers, wear a constables badge and in some

appointment by the mayor and city council after police did a background check. beston's police commissioner never knew what we found out that he was arrested in georgia in 2009 for impersonating a private investigator and arson for possibly setting fire a car. sentenced to a year behind bars and released on time served. commissioner evans says the out of state record wouldn't have been considered for a constable application. >> nothing that would have prohibit us from issuing constable license here. and again, we didn't have the legal right to check on the constable license because again, that only serves civil process, he did have a record, but from what i understand, nothing in massachusetts. figueroa's bioand protection service web site shows he worked as a private investigator in florida and a prison guard in west virginia have. we verified he was a prison guard but only a week before quitting for another job.

to have big holes. we found his application to become a private investigator in florida was denied and application to run a security agency there also denied. records show figueroa did have gun licenses in florida at various times but they expired in 2009 and more recently in february of this year. late this afternoon i got word from the pentagon that figueroa inflated his military service as well. that web site, figueroa says he was in the the pentagon says he enlisted in 2003 but never got around to basic training and granted a hardship discharge months later. >> police swarm the east boston neighborhood after shots were fired. people living there ordered to sheltner place and this is what they heard outside. [ gunfire ] the firefight echoed through homes. now we're hearing from those who live in the neighborhood who experience this.
