>> anchor: a toddler shot in roxbury. the little girl's father, the intended target. tonight, both police and community are outraged. >> anchor: plus, the latest on the officers shot in eastie as another one goes in for surgery. >> anchor: donald trump suggesting there should be a drug test before the final debate next week. first at 11:00, a little girl just two years old caught in the crossfire in roxbury. police say she was shot in broad daylight while she was with her father. >> anchor: officers say her dad was the intended target. now police are making a passionate public plea to help find the shooter. kelli o'hara is live in roxbury with the latest. >> reporter: that little girl is okay. she is expected to be okay. she is recovering at the hospital tonight.

sitting in the back seat. and thank god, the baby, again, it's a minor wound butst, you know, everybody should be outraged. >> reporter: williams evans angry and frustrated after a two-year-old baby girl is rushed to the hospital saturday afternoon. after being shot while sitting in the back seat of her father's car in this roxbury neighborhood. the commissioner says the toddler's father was the intended target. >> senseless shooting. and i wish we had more cooperation. obviously, the father here is a known gang kid to us. who also is not telling us the truth of what happened here. it is unfortunate. >> these people are sick. a loft these kids are sick. they don't understand. >> reporter: the shooting happened outside of dorothy fleming's front door. fleming has had her window shot out in the violence. what upsets her, people see

anything. >> babies are getting hurt. how you can sit back and not say nothing, that is sickening. that is crazy. >> reporter: the two-year-old is expected to be okay. many are wondering what is it going to take to prevent this from happening again. >> way too many guns on the street. way too many kids with them. they really don't seem to care. >> absolutely unacceptable. that a young person in broad daylight in their neighborhood can't, can't just be a child. visited that little girl at the hospital tonight. he said she was awake. she was crying. but it appears she is going to heal from her wounds. again, he says if you have any information as to who pulled that trigger, please let them know. he wants them behind bars. >> anchor: donald trump issuing a challenge with election day just 24 days away. >> we should take a drug test prior... because i don't know what's going on withler.

drug test before the final debate in las vegas this week. he made the suggestion as more women come forward claiming he groped and kidsed them without their permission. the night team's dan hausle is in portsmouth, new hampshire with more. >> i have so many great friends in new england. including tom brady and coach belichick. >> reporter: donald trump brings his campaign back to new england with some sporting themes. including the surprising suggestion of drug-testing the candidates before the next debate. >> we should take a drug test prior... because i don't know what's going on with her. at the beginning of her last debate, she was all pumped up at the beginning. and at the end, it was like, oh, take me down. she could barely reach her car. i think we should take a drug test. anyway, i'm willing to do it. >> reporter: trump generally stayed on the issues. he did find time to respond to continuing allegation that is he groped various women.

it. dan hausle, 7 news night team. >> anchor: tim kaine in florida today slamming trump for recent comments. trump recently said he would be beating hillary by 20% if the media wasn't so corrupt. kaine dismissed these allegations, calling trump a bully and telling voters the only way to beat a bully is to stand up to them. stay withp news... 7 news for coverage of the race for the white house. dan hausle will be in las ve reports on the final debate. >> anchor: a woman saved by strangers after accidentally driving her s.u.v. into a pond. her car was finally pulled from spy pond in arlington earlier today. the 68-year-old was trying to back into a parking spot yesterday when she went over the curb and into the pond. the s.u.v., as you can see right there, slowly began to sink. well, that is when three men jumped into action, diving into the cold water, making a miraculous save.

>> as the car started to go down, i could see a woman inside in the driver's seat, leaning over, slamming on the passenger window. trying to get out. she just let me pull her. she was floating on her back. >> anchor: we learned tonight, she will not be charged for the accident. overwhelming support continues for the two officers shot in eastie this week. tonight, we learned officer matt after undergoing another operation this morning. both he and officer richard cintolo are in critical but stable condition. john cuoco is live at massachusetts general hospital where the officers are recovering. >> reporter: commissioner evans visited mgh this morning. it is here that both officers are still in critical but stable condition. after putting their lives on the line, boston police officers, richard cintolo, and

hospital. the department says officer morris had surgery on saturday. he severed a major artery when police say kirk figueroa opened fire wednesday night. officer cintolo is on the mend after having surgery on friday. 7 news spoke with mayor walsh about the two officers and the community's overwhelming response. . >> really, it's been incredible. outpouring of support and love for these officers. >> reporter: right now, the investigation continues into what happened on gladstone street in east boston. will find out more about the suspect. >> reporter: the pair responded to a call about a man threatening his roommate with a knife. when they went inside, police say figueroa started shooting. he was allegedly armed with a tactical shotgun and wearing body armor. wounding officers morris and cintolo. the suffolk county district attorney's office will be conducting their own independent investigation. mayor walsh spoke about the risk these officers and others like them take every day. >> any time a police officer gets called to a domestic

caught on camera at a car-wash in florida. a woman was trying to vacuum her car. you can see her here. suddenly, the nearby canister explodes. the fire kept burning until a worker rushed over to help. >> anchor: well, tonight, firefighters know why that canister exploded. the woman was vacuuming up gasoline. caught on camera: fast woman is vacuuming out the trunk of her car at a florida car-wash. all of a sudden, the vacuum canister bursts into flames. >> it was a heck of an

>> reporter: the owner caught it on video earlier this week. >> if you seen it, it scared the heck out of her. >> reporter: you see the woman drop the hose. the flames pour from the equipment. eventually, a car wash employee comes over with a fire extinguisher and puts it out. >> thank god nobody was standing over there. you know what i mean? >> reporter: the woman was trying to vacuum spilled gasoline from her trunk. customers w didn't know she couldn't do that. >> that is not good. jeez louise, you are kidding me. >> reporter: once the fire was out, the driver took off. well, if you didn't know before now, gasoline and vacuums don't mix. luckily that, woman wasn't hurt. the vacuum, though, out of order. >> anchor: coming up, 80 degrees in the forecast. that is not a typo.
