>> anchor: we start with breaking news fought of boston. a bus fire, fire crews have putt out the fire but this is video sent into us from a viewer from earlier. you can see smoke billowing even flames in this video sent to us in front of the south shore plaza right here. iowa isn't to take to you video now to show you what the fire is now out here in the bus. this is we can tell you at this point that the area is still trying to get back to normal from this. we saw from our traffic a little while ago that they have moved that bus. they towed it out of there so no word if there or what the traffic situation is like right down there right now. >> anchor: fire officials investigating after a fire on newbury street in boston damages a building. in fact, investigators are citying there is about a million dollars in damage there. >> anchor: that four story brownstone building went up in flames last night. kris anderson has the latest from boston. >> reporter: a scary scene on one of boston's beth known streets. flames tearing through this newbury street brownstone sunday evening around 6:30 p.m.

newbury street you can see smoke coming out of the budding. i was only about a half black away. i said this is a real tire. >> reporter: steve saw it all unfolding as he and dozens of others stopped to watch the boston fire department battle the blaze and overcome the thick smoke. the smoke billowing is almost as scary as seeing the flame because it seems like something is building in there and you don't know if there will be a blow out. >> reporter: the fire started on the first of this four story building which houses a apartment units. nobody was injured but boston fire officials say the fire caused nearly $1 million in damages. it locked like they got in there pretty quickly. they put the ladder up and broke into that first floor and you can see flames erupt so we weren't sure. they seem to have the situation under control right from the get go of the fire department. now witnesses say one of the big problems was those fire crews trying to get to the scene here. newbury street has parking on both sides as you well know and

which made it tough for fire crews to get back to the building but once they did they were able to put the fire out and save most of the building just some damage there for a couple of floors. that's the very latest live on newbury street. kris anderson, 7 news. >> anchor: we are following more news today. police vetting a deadly shooting in lawrence. the shooting happened on haverill street last night. one man was killed. police have made no arrests in connection with the incident. >> anchor: police are have thing a deadly drive in lakeville. investigators say a 77-year-old man was involving two motor cycles on sunday morning it. happened on highland road. three other people seriously injured and people who live nearby tell us that they believe the way the road is constructed led it a number of crashes like this. i hear the sound of a crash and i knew something had happened because we got a lot of crashes on this corner. i am sorry for the families and everybody involved. i feel bad for them. police have not determined

dangerous drive in halifax. police say in this one two cars collided head on. it was franklin street yesterday afternoon and one of the victims became trapped inside. everybody all three people hurt had to be rushed to the hospital and we're not getting word yet on their conditions. >> anchor: police continue to investigate a deadly amtrak train accident in east greenwich rhode island. train was headed from boston to washington dc when it hit a person attempting to cross the tracks. that person was killed. train service was delayed for several hours while authorities were i heard the train horn and i woke up and i said to myself, i said i think something happened on the track. none of the passengers were hurt in that accident. >> anchor: a memorial dedication delayed. this is to honor the victims of a rhode island nightclub fire you never will forget the one and the sight where the station nightclub once stood was supposed to open this weekend but construction workers say it's not going to be readiment organizers say the victim's

100 people died when the station nightclub caught fire back in 2003. the $2 million memorial will be located in west warwick at the sight of the fire and it's going to feature ray granite monument remembering each of the victims. a 19-year-old student at the university of connecticut has died after being hit about a university fire department vehicle early sunday morning. state police say she was sitting with her back against the building's garage door. the fire department received a call for service and which she was leaning opened, causing her to fall back. the vehicle then exited driving over her and killing hire. >> anchor: terrifying scene moments after a deadly crash in san diego. a truck flew off a bridge and right in a crowd that was gathered below. the highway plunge killed four people, injured several others. police say the truck's driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. four peel are killed, another 9 hurt when this pickup truck

from 60 feet in the air the truck come crashing down into a park where hundreds of people from los angeles are gathered for motorcycle ride. the truck ends up on its side on top of numerous victims, four of whom are killed probably instantly. the suspected cause of the tragedy. the driver of the pickup truck has been placed under arrest for driving under the influence causing injury or death. he was transported to usds hospital. highway patrol identifies the deliver of the truck as ric anthony a 25-year-old navy sailor based out of san diego. because the crowd is so massive there are already san diego police officers on the scene who find themselves entrenched in chaos when the truck flies off the bridge. when the truck came off the overpass, units, officers from san diego pd were moments away, came into the crowd solicited the help of those that were here that were impacted by the horrific event and were able to make way for the fire to get in

officers on scene attempted to proud provide life saving aid to the most critically injured. unfortunately, it did not produce any life saving results. it's horrible. it's horrific. obviously people were down below we have bodies that were, innocent people down here having a good time and now they are gone. it's just not that common for vehicles to come off of freeways and overpasses. we these in the past, not here being and it's just tragic. any vehicle coming off from an elevation like that and landing on peel the outcome is not going to be good. >> anchor: police say people at that event rushed over to turn over that pickup truck to get the victim underneath them and help many give aid to those first responders and people that were hurt. >> anchor: caught on camera, two young surfers come to the rescue of a family after their boat capsizes off ventura beach,

moving recklessly before it tid. the incident is under investigation with the actions of both drivers coming under scrutiny. caught on camera, a scary boating accident reportedly involving a father and two little boys the coast of ventura saturday afternoon. the vessel came dangerously close to surfers and the shore and capsized in a sand trap. it's amazing no one was hurt but the ventura harbor patrol is now investigating what officers say appears to be reckless operation of the video of his friend and another surfer when it happened. he got really close to the surf and he had like a little like child in the boat and they started to tip over. the little kid went overboard first and the dude driving it just completely lost control, almost hit my friend. everything flew off and was pretty scary. >> reporter: the surfers turned into good samaritans during a shocking close call. the dad and one kid kind of came up kind of quick and then the send kid didn't. so i pushed the boat down so

he came out then i put him on my board. another surfer helped the other boy while the dad managed to climb on top of the capsized boat. current was ripping so hard on the boat, everyone wassest going sucked out already. >> anchor: one little boy grabbed on to the leash of surfboard while the surfer paddled him to safety. he was holding on to my leash. ankle deep water he was still like gripped on to my leash. i was like we're on shore and he was like thank you. >> reporter: a harbor patrol officer explains what should have happene the harbor is there is a buoy about a half mile offshore here. the two buoy and would you take that and there is red buoys that would direct you all the way in here. here there were breaking waves here today? with big waves that was a dangerous place to enter. >> anchor: so it does remain under investigation. authorities believe the children were wearing adult life jackets and that the father wasn't wearing one at all.

70's to around 80. tomorrow and wednesday will be the warmest of the week but even with that said as this cool front come through wednesday night and thursday, thursday will feature a lot of clouds with the warm air trying to come back and again if this were july would have no problem but this time of year sometimes warm fronts can get stuck trying to maneuver their way through southern new england and it doesn't happen tonight. that's why we're so warm tomorrow and wednesday. but it does happen thursday. it's stuck. so thursday will feature a lot of clouds. a few isolated showers, temperature on thursday cooler for sure but still that's about where we should be for this time of year. warm front doing its thing. a lot of clouds, scattered showers thursday not widespread about a 40% chance and on friday i think certainly higher chance of some scattered showers, maybe a few tropical downpours if a cool front can scrape moisture off the atlantic then we might be talking tropical rain but we'll keep an eye on that. right now just say scattered showers and for the weekend it does begin to cool off and in fact temperatures next monday
