walked to school. the student is a student at souh lawrence east educational complex. the suspect will be arraigned tomorrow. we'll continue following this story and get you more information as soon as it becoms available. >> an historic navy ship targetd by thieves. quincy police say four men broke into the uss salem. once on board investigators tell us they took off with some carg. >> now we're learning how they got inside the ship. 7's steve cooper is live with te latest. >> look at the fence they shimmied over. a popular hand mark that's dockd here in quincy. >> it's pretty unusual that someone would break into that particular ship. >> i'm not aware of any recent incidents with that ship. >> police say the break happened earlier this month on the 716-foot long ship nicknamed sea witch which is currently set up as a haunted ghost ship as a

not easy to get even on the shi. there's only way to get in and one way out. >> investigators what the suspects may not have realized s there's surveillance cameras all over the ship. and so police are turning to the public for help now, hoping someone recognizes the four men. >> it's very unfortunate, and obviously we would like the public's help in finding out who these four gentlemen are. >> it turns out the suspects wee on the naval cruiser for nearly two hours before bolting with two-way radios, $1,000 worth of props and handmade halloween costumes ownd by the ghost ship harbor event producers. >> if they thought this was a funny prank, you say -- i mean, it's someone else's stuff. it's not funny to steal from other people. >> now that the suspects' pictures have been made public, police say they're confident tht the suspects will be located and arrested. in quincy, steve cooper, 7news. >> boston police are investigating a late night shooting in roxbury. officers were called to a scene

that's when police say they foud a man who had been shot. he was taken to the hospital wih nonlife-threatening injuries. no arrests have been made. >> a car up in flames on route . officials say the fire started late last night and the road was closed until early morning hour. no word on what caused the fire. >> in chelsea a telephone pole came tumbling down this morning. the pole pulled down several wires. it's unclear why the driver lost control. no one was hurt. >> governor charlieak self-driving vehicles. the decision comes as tesla announces their self-driving cas are ready to roll whenever federal regulations will allow for it. it has the potential to create jobs all across the state. >> a good samaritan in worst dos some heavy lift to go save a lie when he saw a bicyclist pinned under a car, he used his jack to free the plan. the bicyclist is expected to be okay. 7's brand begun has more on the

was riding his bicycle when he was hit by this car pinning him underneath it. it happened on dewy street just before 4:00 in worcester. the driver was exciting a driveway when she hit the bicyclist. >> joseph was driving home from work when he saw the young man completely under the car unable to move. >> he spoke. i say, are you okay? >> and he s that's when joseph and another man started to jack the car up. the bicyclist gasping for breath with the weight of the car on tp of him. >> we had two jack, one in the front and one on the back. it was my idea to jack the car and to raise the car over. that's what we wanted to do. >> firefighters and police were on scene in just a few minutes. police say the young man was under observation at the hospitl

he was in pain. he was in pain. i was scared for his life, because there was a whole car over him and the bicycle, it was under the car too. the bicycle was all under the car. >> brandon gunnoe, 7news. >> a student in wakefield recovering after a frightening fall. police say a bus was leaving a school when it hit a bump. a child on the bus was tossed right out of the last row into the rear door and out the exit n to the scraped up but was alert and responsive when help arrived. students are shocked. >> not really sure how he could have fallen out of the back. i was kind of nervous. i obviously really hope he's oky and that it wasn't a major injury. but it was kind of scary to thik it really could have been anyon. >> the school district is still trying to figure out how that door unlatched. >> also on 7, a portland, orego, firefighter hailed a hero aftera massive natural gas explosion.

throwing debris and people to te ground. 7's sarah french has the full story. >> a lot of debris has been removed from the side of the building. >> battalion chief scott myers was among the first to respond o the scene just minutes before a national gas explosion in orego. he walked up and down the street making sure shops were closed ad employees were out. he then reached this man. >> i just came up to the door to check it and it was locked and this door on the left is the one i was holding on when i heard something happening behind me and all of a sudden te explosion occurred and it just pushed me into the -- right over the top of that door into the center of the room there. >> i didn't feel like i was hurt and i started hearing the mayday call so i got back up and came out here to see what i was going to look at. mayday. >> across the street he saw two firefighters badly hurt after te

50 feet. >> this fence that's pushed dow, that's where the firefighters, s i came out of the building were up against that and that's where they were tending to them. then myers and another firefighter saw something they could hardly believe. a woman standing on top a pile f burning rubble where just secons before a building had stood. >> couldn't wait for the ladder. we just needed to get to her, so we just started climbing up the mile to her and waved her down t the same time. >> three firefight t officers and three other people were injured in the blast, but they're all expected to be okay. in the newsroom, i'm sarah french, 7news. >> caught on camera, a plane force the to land on a highway n georgia. you can see the small plane in the median right there. the plane ran out of fuel and hd no where else to land. no one was hurt. >> in new jersey a plane crashes into someone's backyard. crews worked to pull the plane from the trees. officials say it went down after an unknown mechanical issue.

expected to be okay. >> two thieves in oklahoma drive a truck into a store and steal n atm. they smash the wall. a man hops out and pulses it right into the truck. police found the car on the side of the road 20 minutes after the robbery but are still looking fr the suspects. >> a state trooper comes to the rescue of a bald eagle after the bird was hit by an suv. the bird proved to be quite the wing man swoop into save the injured animal. >> the rolling. >> for some time the trooper decides what to do next. the wings were flapping, but eventually he got a new grip and scurried back to his patrol car with the eagle. >> he's not quite sure how to handle the situation. he eventually picks up the eagl, gives him a bear hug, takes him back to his patrol car and puts

thunderstorms in pennsylvania. this is our next weather system. it's a warm front, the leading edge of warmer more humid air tied to an area of low pressure which really with time becomes a powerhouse storm. this will pass up right over new england late tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night and in doing so, bring humidity into new england. clouds will be with us tomorrow and an increase in chance of showers. temps at this time in the upper 50s. the storm will also bring the 80s into the northeast, but it will not succeed in doing that. here are those higher dewpoints. the dewpoints are in the upper 60s to around 70 that's nearly pure tropical air. for tonight, a lot of clouds, a few sprinkles. mild, humid. 57 to 62. temps actually rise as we head overnight tonight and your morning commute features mostly cloudy size. it's a humid morning. it will feel more like early september with temps in the lowr 60s. 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. a few showers with a lot of clouds. temps up near 70 and i think moe showers around for the evening

up probably about half an inch o an inch of rain, beneficial rain by the time the storm peels out of here. very late tomorrow night and early saturday morning and then the storm will park itself acros southern canada and really intensify. and when you have these storms that just suddenly explode and bomb out, that's what we call bomb-o genesis, something has to fill the atmosphere. we have windy both saturday and sunday, especially saturday afternoon and through the day on sunday, winds will gust ove well with temperatures starting the day on saturday in the low 60s. that will be the warmest part of the day saturday morning and thn the numbers will settle back ino the 50s after lunchtime on saturday with mostly cloudy skies. again, there may be a spot showr before 8:00 a.m. on saturday, bt essentially a dry day. but a lot of clouds. blustery. sunday, mostly sunny skies. it's windy and cool with temps n sundays only in the mid 50s. there could be an isolated showr

kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old while she was walkig to school. it happened in the year of rocksford and phillips streets n lawrence. the victim, a student at the south lawrence east educational complex. >> let's get right to 7's ryan schulteis. he's in the newsroom with more details. >> the suspect grabbed the student from behind, took her to a nearby apartment complex and then sexually assaulted her. sky 7hd over the area. it's not far from the lawrence school police say she was walking to school when the attack happened. the suspect has been identified as 21-year-old angel mateo. police say he lives on nearby phillips street. officers credit the victim forgiving them the information they needed to make the arrest. he will be arraigned tomorrow. >> also breaking news right now out of chelsea. police say they have tracked don the man whose stray bullet hit a 13-year-old boy in his bedroom. 7's kimberly bookman spoke with the family. she joins us live with the
